Ok maybe it's just me but I love the feel of having an actual manga in my hands. I know most manga's are online but I like buying the first few volume's in stores or online.

What about you guys???

I am pretty sure that another thread like this exists somewhere... but whatever...

Yeah, I definitely prefer a book. I prefer to turn pages then to have to click next... eventually my fingers get sore... :) On the other hand, anime is just as good if not better on a computer than with official released DVDs. I don't own any anime (well, maybe one or two... but not much)... but I got like over a thousand books of manga. This illustrates well my stance on what is worth owning a physical copy of.

Having the manga physically is best. However, I'm used to reading it electronically.

I don't really mind reading online manga, but I prefer having the physical manga. Sure, they're more expensive than online reading, but I still like them more. It's faster for me to go through pages, especially if I flip back and forth or want to reread something, and in the actual volumes, usually there are small extras between chapters or at the end. Those are fun.

There's also just a nice feeling to having legit manga in your hands... ^_^=

Yeah. I agree on this. Eyes get strained from staring at the screen for too long and I tend to get headaches if I read continuously for more than 2 hours.

Unfortunately, I don't have the chance to lay my hands on a 'live' manga. Bookstores here don't sell manga and even if they do, their prices are exorbitantly high, and in online stores I don't find the manga I'm looking for. It's always the popular series like 'Bleach' and 'One Piece' that are stocked in the online stores. So I read manga online. It has become a habit now.

In hand. Reading online doesn't give you the same joy as looking at a shiny book cover in your hand or turning the fresh pages!
Plus, reading online doesn't always have the chapters you want anyway. 99.9% of the time the translations are by every day people, so when you read it online it's completely different than the bought version. Which is why I prefer buying it as it is translated properly. I read a manga I owned online and the translation was COMPLETELY different. :|. I totally respect the people who take the time to translate hundreds of pages though!

To the above person, Manga isn't available here to read either. I think the only place you can buy manga in new zealand is the big cities. I went to a manga shop in Auckland on Queen Street years ago. That was the first store I even went to. I unfortunately live far away from Auckland in a place people call a 'city', but unfortunately just not a big enough one
.

This.

Since I have the chance of borrowing a lot of manga from my library I always go with this option. In extreme cases I go online.

I prefer softcopy.

I also bought the hardcopy of manga that I like then I just put the book on the bookshelf without even opening the plastic cover. I mostly read the hardcopy only when I can't read on my computer because of electricity problem or something.

ok i am a collector by nature so I love having a physical copy of things. But I am not going to spend money on anything that I don't like. So I read online then decide what is worthy of me buying and adding to my collection

I (mostly) only read printed manga.
I rarely read scans, unless the manga hasn't been licensed, or I just can't seem to find a copy of a certain book somewhere.
Honestly, I don't know anyone who prefers scans over physical copies. So, without a doubt, physical copies for me.

so i often have to stick with reading online.. i own 60manga (i just counted them yesterday, haha:D) and of course, it's way better to actually being able to hold them physically.. if i'd just have that much money to buy everything i want *sigh

I almost always first check out a scanlation before deciding to put down the money on hard copies. The only exception is Gantz vol 1.

There's nothing better than either reading a new volume or reading a hard copy, but reading a new volume on hard copy can (but not always) be a worthwhile experience.

Also, when I really like a series, I feel sort of guilty when I don't buy the hard copies even though I'm aware of how many times I'm going to reread it. It's always good to support the ones who've made such amazing storyline/characters.

The real deal is better in general, but online is better for exploration. It's not really worth spending lots of money on something that you don't even enjoy. It's also quite nice to stay up late by the computer and read some manga!

Reading online. With my tablet it feels as if I'm holding a huge library of manga right in the palms of my hand. It also comes in handy when I'm on a long vacation so I don't have to take a stack of volumes with me. But I'm planning on buying manga I really liked though.

Online.
Simply because you basically have any manga you want, don't have to carry volumes of manga around, bigger on screen, screen is bright so I can read it easily day or night without having to worry about lighting, I can just go to the next page with a click of a button instead of having to keep on flipping and holding onto the book to make sure the book doesn't close on me, and I save myself some cash.

It's nice to have the real thing as well but to be honest I can probably only see myself buying it just to have it. Since after all it takes awhile for the physical copy to come out rather then just going online and reading it right as the next chapter has been translated.

Finding the actual manga i want to read in book stores is usually difficult so i look up the online versions or i simply find some manga in the library that spark my interest and are taken out to read later on, so i side a little more on online since it's availability compared to the actual manga which may be hard to come across.

Unless it's soemthing I really want (eva manga) Almost always online. If manga was over here what it was in japan ($1/$2 a volume) i'd buy it no problem, but $13-20 dollars for 300 ish pages is way too much. That, and the industry is contracting...

Well and i'm a cheap bastard. Though I do spend around $50 dollars a week for two six packs worth of craft beer.
