It's not mecha though, it's an Idolm@ster clone except it could do 20x better in sales, it has the same international popularity as well multiply by ten.

It's a good idea to side with caution but you never know, however I do agree this will be seriously merchandise driven regardless. I wonder why Dengeki G's didn't give Love Live an anime adaptation especially when you got Sakurako Kimino in this who could whip up a story for it easy. They need to either stop the project, get her to make a story for the anime or get Kimino back to finishing up Baby Princess.

I don't think it'll hit 100k or anything, but a good 25-30k is what I'm expecting, which is still a major hit. There are otakus who buy like 100 of the same AKB48 CD. They're really obsessed with this group, so it'll do really good in sales

I get the feeling only the younger members will be selected for VA roles to please the Otaku. I want some adult characters in the lineup maybe 2 or 3 as well. Women can be moe look at Azusa Miura.

I'm not a AKB48 fan but I know that the anime producer is the one that wanted to "cash-in" on AKB48. I bet the idols that will be included in the anime is determined by the number of singles sold. So this show is already making a profit even though it hasn't started yet LOL!!!!

BTW~ the comments and prejudice here piss me off....just cuz i'm an akb fan.

1. don't even know if it will be like IdolMaster which i doubt it considering their producers and script writer who worked on Ano Hana
2. I doubt most of you listened to Beginner, River, Kaze wa fuiteiru, Mokugekisha, ALIVE, Sakura no shior, Keibetsui or their 421 songs ranging from cute love songs to songs about suicide to actually make judgement about them
3. AKB have fanbase among girls as well as males, not just otakus, proof by their promotions in ViVi, CuTIE magazines with members like Itano Tomomi, Shinoda Mariko, Maeda Atsuko, Kojima Haruna which is why they got good people working on this because they want to cash in on AKB popularity.
4. AKB don't portray the "moe" or cute image as other idols. They play games like Shoujiki Shougi on AKBINGO where they're hooked to lie detectors and asked personal question about themselves like if they fake being cute for TV or eat bug sushi on Muchaburi dodgeball as punishment. They are cute but the members joke about stuffs like farting, who have dirty houses, being flat chest etc. They don't act like they're pure, they act like normal girls who wear ugly colorful sweats and no make up to dress rehearsal even when they're being filmed.

ANYWAY I WANT AN ANIME PERFORMANCE OF BEGINNER!!!
It's the thing that make me their fan, especially the scene where acchan ripped off her arm.
BTW~ the members doing the voicing are decided by their voice acting skills by actual judges and tests

9 members will be doing the main voice acting but the other 9 supporting roles will be played by these experience seiyuus. these 9 girls were chosen out of 200 girls from AKB, SKE, NMB etc in a competition with only 2 of them are popular members while the rest have never ranked in election or ranked at low position, Mayuyu in AKB and Yagami from SKE are the popular ones so I think it's safe to say they were chosen out of their skills. so i don't think they're that bad. with the experienced seiyuus around could further help them.

not going to argue the casting is full of lolis lookers even tho the youngest is probably Mayuyu at 17 going 18 the end of this month. Tho I think they just look lolis because of they downgrade their looks to make them more girl next door.

Any way I meant the actual AKB48 as a whole isn't really lolis like Maeda Atsuko, Shinoda Mariko, Akimoto Sayaka, Miyazawa Sae. The only lolis in that group come from Team B, which is where most of the voice actresses doing this anime come from.
but anyway yeah as an anime, it look moe...kinda disappointed since the designer did Macross Frontier. I hate the moe style..

beside their fanbase is really diverse. They're not supported just by otakus bro. right now it's the teens and the adults who are supporting them and I doubt the majority of these adults are otakus.
Beside wtf is with people mis using the word otaku? Otakus aren't interested in 3D girls. the term of idol fans are wotas but not every fans are hardcore enough to be consider wotas. just like how not every anime nerd is hardcore enough to be consider otakus. stop misusing the term~

There is a such thing as an idol otaku and those variety of folks can be far more obsessive than anime/manga/LN otakus, but pale in comparison to VN/Eroge otaku.

That's what the main male character in the official manga AKB49: Rules Against Love had in mind initially, until him following his crush to an AKB concert changed his mind.

Read that manga first, as it's clear you have little idea how the system works.

OP and ED have been announced. Both songs will be performed by the new sub-unit NO NAME, which consists of the 9 members chosen for the lead roles: Watanabe Mayu, Nakaya Sayaka, Sato Amina, Ishida Haruka, Sato Sumire, Iwata Karen, Yagami Kumi, Sawako Hata, and Mita Mao. The opening theme is "Kibou ni Tsuite" and ending theme is "Yume wa Nandomo Umarekawaru".

I'm not impressed with the character designs. I think Idolmaster and LoveLive have better character designs than this one. I was actually expecting a somewhat realistic proportion for the characters(kinda like Amagami characters) since this show is somewhat based on real people. And what's with the story? Sci-fi+Idols? Wouldn't it be better if its set in the modern world so people can easily relate to the characters? And I was hoping they would tackle the issue about gross handshaking practices of some idol otakus during meet and greet events that the real AKB48 idols experienced.

Anyway I guess I will still watch this show...

I actually don't mind the series, I watched season 1 in 2 nights, it was ok - not exceptional, but better then I thought I would be. The second season isn't bad either, it's a good time killer
