More code geass copypasta (battle quite remind first Lelouch battle with Oumas brute power+ ability instead Kallen and geass). And how blonde guy knew he would be protected by weapon taken from crazy pilot. If Ouma got rocket launcher or other offensive weapon instead of shield generator, that guy would be killed

CGCGCGCGCGCGCGCGCGCGCGC written all over

anyway, how the hell did Shu know how to use the weapon he extracted from that guy?

and the enemies are too retarded to be taken seriously, Aizen from Bleach is much more enjoyable

and the OP is good, but fails in comparison w/ Fate/zero's, Chihayarafuru's and P4A's in giving excitement for the episode.
Simplistic beauty can't be appreciated by someone who looks for something grand in everything he watch.

The only thing I can say for an explanation to the weapon that Shuu pulled out is that Gai called that blondie "Kaleidoscope", hence the laser reflector thingy. Around 10:02 of the episode. Gai said that the weapons are based on the person. So yeah.
Pretty hax and convenient.

Why some people always complain and comparing guilty crown and code geass. I think it's ok as long as it's enjoyable and if some still insist to compare them, just give it more time ( it's just only 2 ep, too early to make conclusion) if I'm the director I will make the anime more salable by making it more like CG. Btw, 2nd episode is good, but feel a bit disappointing. Maybe my expectation too high

Who cares if there're CG similarities? Can't we just accept that they're both enjoyable?

Anyway, I liked it. :) I also agree that Shuu dismissing Gai's offer was quite refreshing.

Lots of love for Gai. Nothing beats a yong handsome kickass genius authoritative rebel. Omnomnom.

So many haters, I'm impressed.

I liked this episode. I didn't mind the fanservice, maybe because I'm used to it or maybe people are overacting.

About the Kaleidoscope thing, during the briefing it's after hearing that the kaleidoscope guy will be here that Gai decides to do the operation saying it's a "divine intervention" (in Commie version at least) meaning he already knows about this weapon.
It's not explained why he knows about it yet, but it's only the second episode! Maybe they met before and he saw how the weapon is working? We don't know but that doesn't mean it's a plothole, stop being stupid.

I'm more concerned about why the neko-operator was playing bejeweled during the operation than that.

It's really fun to see how the haters come out of their holes.

Only 2 episodes and you say the story is crap. Oh yeah. I FORGOT. You can look in the future, so that you can say in 20 episodes, their won't be any very good plot :3

And Tsugumi is 14. Maybe it explains why she is not so serious like the others. But I see how her mood changed, when the hostage get killed.

And about the ecchi fanservice thing: It's redjuice. You know redjuice? (: He like nudity and ecchi scene. So inform yourself before you watch an anime, where he is the original character designer. You can't expect long clothes and no breasts, when he is this genial character designer *-*
<3

I love the anime. And I'm sure: If the anime has finished airing, you'll come back with: "Oh my. I thought so wrong >.< It's so amazing!"

By the way: I wanna see how you destory other animes, because of the first episodes. I know Animes, where NOTHING happens in the 2 episodes. Only things like: School here, School there.

And the storywriter is the storywriter from Code Geass. It is his right to add very good ideas from his other Animes to his new one.

OH AND ABOUT THE BIG BIG Plot Hole you clever guys saw:
Gai knew Daryl from before. Maybe he knew his power? The shield? Come on, guys. THINK about it and don't say: OH MY GOD, they don't answered our stupid questions. SUCH A BIG PLOT HOLE )))))):"

What, you don't want to join our terrorist group? TOO BAD.

Ugh. I'm usually pretty good at ignoring fanservice, and I understand that the target audience of most anime is young men, but for some reason, most of it here rubbed me the wrong way.
'I'm in pain, LOOK MY BOOBS ARE JIGGLING.'
'We're in a serious battle, SO I'M GOING TO HIT THIS WITH MY BUTT.'
The girls who were pretty much just staying in one place have skintight (and inexplicably transparent in places) suits, and yet the one who is running around the battlefield has a getup with dangling stuff that could be grabbed or get caught on stuff and a top half that a) I'm surprised even stays on, and b) seems to offer no breast support. I feel sympathy for her.

Screw it, I'm going to stop before I start feeling a need to smash my head against a desk.
If any of my posts seem odd, it's probably because I'm tired. Sorry. I have sleeping issues.

lol yeah it is kinda funny.

I could care less about the ecchi, but the story is very good so far. Although I wasn't surprised when Inori transferred in his school.

I have a feeling that blond haired psycho is still alive somehow and I kinda hope he is I love psychotic characters especially male ones.

I'm far from being a hater of this show. I'm actually really enjoying it so far and I think it has potential to turn out something quite good indeed. However, your comment annoyed the hell out of me so I couldn't help but answer it. While I think some of the hating isn't justified, you're just bashing on them while, ironically, having the same attitude, even if in the opposite end of the spectrum.

Sure thing. It's not plausible to call the plot bad at this point. But... can YOU look into the future? Because you can't tell if it's gonna be good either when you're only 2 episodes in. Yet you even have it as 2nd in your favorites... Strange thing, hum? If you have the right to judge it as great by the first 2 episodes, so do others to call it bad.

It's too early to deem that a plot hole (and I believe it isn't and will eventually be explained, since it'd take really awful writing to center an entire plan in knowledge that the characters shouldn't have). BUT, it's not a stupid question. And your "maybes" make no sense. The Kaleidoscope (that shield) is a weapon that can only be extracted by the King's Power. Therefore, you can't call it "Daryl's power", nor would Gai be able to know that without having seen it be extracted. Unless of course, there is another way of knowing the hidden properties of human "introns" that can be read by that Void thing. Which is info we don't yet have, thus it's logical to ask ourselves about it. The questions are not stupid, and if it isn't explained, then it will be a plot hole.

That still does not explain how he knew Daryl had that weapon, how he knew what the new power would aquire that weapon and how he even knows all this.

The Void Genome was top secret and was never revealed till it was through Gai's group stealing it. So all in all really, he knew it all by knowing the person? Really? Bullshit! It's a freaking plot hole and it's a bad sign less there is no more of them and things get explained. Looks like someone is not learning their shit from CG last I heard of its problems and someone is not learning from HOTD's way of being more serious if not for the fan service.

End of the deal goes back to $$$ for this anime and as such fan service. Nothing else aprt from the attracting of males to boost viewer's numbers.

I love Gai. He's just..amazing.

And god dammit it's only the second episode and I'm like getting emotionally attached to this series and the plot.

..and by god, as soon as Daryl first showed his mug, I knew I hated him. There was always something wrong with him, and then he started acting like a psycho and I knew he was the bitch of the series. I'm already disgusted with him. Well, these types of series need a fucker like him I guess...

As far as CG goes, he's worse than Suzaku x10..good. I can't have another Suzaku running around..ugh.

Epic episode is epic. 5/5.

You do know that opinions should be backed with facts, unless you want to look like a retard.

If you want facts to back it up, look at the images other people have posted. I win.

ANYWAYS.

As others have already pointed out, the problem isn't the fact that the fanservice exists. The problem is the lack of tact in implimenting it. They have no style whatsoever.

AND, it's not like they needed more of it anyway. Their outfits alone provide more than enough. That suit the one chick who plays with holograms wears? You can see half of her ass. That's more than enough; I don't need it getting shoved into my face. "Yeah okay I see your slut suit." And her bouncing boobs aren't even done with a bit of tact. At least the pilot chick's similar scene had a bit of purpose behind it.

These unnecessary fanservices sound like this: "Oh by the way, here's an ass in your face. Oh and in this serious scene? Another ass in your face. And some extraneous bouncing boobs for good measure."

Come on... at least TRY to look subtle...

Okay I'm done.

is a simple solution all...if u don't like the anime don't watch it ...i do that with many
i check 1-2 episodes i see i don't like and drop looking for another but i don't come here commenting each minutes of it

i one i like this anime
i don't mind a bit of 'ecchi"
i only hate the animes in which the characters have huge breats which i find very disturbing lol

this days almost any anime has some kind of fanservice and do not compare animes between them
each have their own story even if for few might look similar

oh ya i kinda dislike the opening song
The spider is watching

I'm NOT a Hater. I like the animation and music (Supercell) of this show. But let's say this straight. Guilty Crown is copy-paste of Code Geass: with Shinji Ikari instead of Lelouch as main character.
Then let's talk about plot. Gai's plan was pretty stupid: The ostages may have die for the missiles Gai have launched . And what if the soldier have called for reinforcements ? There was no real stategy, just a wild assault . If they have invisible cloath, why they did't give them to Shinji(Shou)-Inari?
Gai's speech lacked any strong emotion : no wonder Shinji was't motivated to join their ranks.

From what I've been reading, there seems to be many people dissatisfied with this anime due to the ecchi and transfer student scene. Yes, trasnfer student scene was overdone and stupid however I am a bit puzzled as to why so many people think the ecchi scenes will ruin the anime. For an anime with such quality animation, it would be a waste not to provide some service. Besides, the important scenes are kept serious so there really shouldn't be too much of a problem overlooking some service if you really can't stand it.

Now, I wonder why Yan, Daryl is the only antagonist to appear in the opening- at the end, with the rest of the protagonists, no less... Perhaps he'll eventually become one of the main cast? I've seen more "antagonisticy" characters eventually stray from "the dark side"- Accelerator from TOMNI, for example...

Shu even managed to pull a powerful weapon from him...

Let's see:

1. GC = CG/NGE lolololololol
2. 2 episodes in and i've already spoted "plot holes" everywere. i'm so smart hurrrrrrrr durr
3. fanservice: totally didn't see that coming from the mostly naked female main.

The problem is that all the complaints so far have been, to put it lightly, fucking retarded. I don't even like anything about GC other than the sexy animation, and I can still see how hard the majority of this thread is trying to hate on it.

Too early to make a Shinji comparison. It's been only 2 out of 22 episodes that have shown, so there's more room for development for our 'wimpy' protagonist

As for the fanservice. It doesn't seem to ruin the series in its entirety. It's just a small part of the show and I know it does seem shallow and out of place, butt as long as the series focuses more on the important aspects like the story, plot, character development and so on, and it stays that way I'm fine with it.

I honestly don't think you remember how BAD Shinji Ikari was, so the comparison is a bit off don't you think? i mean we are episode 2...people can claim they aren't hating all they like but what do you prefer than? nitpicking? because its not that i care so much but if i went to look at any of the favorite anime's of the people who already hate this show than I'm sure there would be plenty to "nitpick" about also, is everyone entitled to their opinion ya, like i saw before you need facts to support opinions no?, well less than a minute of total fanservice isn't real a 'fact" that supports all the hating... people are making WAY to big of a deal of the ecchi scenes, EVERY show has some of them, (well almost, but even serious shows is what i'm getting at). Shu as i have mentioned before was staying true to his original character, people don't change in a couple of hours, it just doesn't happen, for those who like Gurren Lagann, wasn't Simon a bit the same way, lame in the start, breakdown in the middle, and then got going? I'm also positive there are SO many other examples and yet they aren't hated (generally) because in the end their development was complete and they actually did something and changed. Also to compare Gai to Lelouch is reallly really off, i mean if you rewatch the episode you will notice his plan wasn't really all that complicated, it was really easy to follow unlike some of Lelouch's plans in CG, and also he waited till AFTER a bunch of people were shot to actually do anything... and lastly that wimply Shu was the reason Gai ain't charcoal now so to rely on the wimpy guy isn't really all that genius, because he himself just stood there looking like a badass, but literally just stood there... but anyway i don't want people to get the wrong idea; I'm all for opinion which is why I'm stating mine, and i don't like or hate any of the characters yet which is my point that it is WAY to early; you get assume all you like on how they will turn out based on past shows but point is this show hasn't reached the point of being generic... not until you see the repetition of old themes continue, because many shows take major twists after slow starts one being a recent show (Steins Gate anyone?) Well hopefully people will chill with all the hating, its getting kind of old, if you really think I'm wrong than at least give me a better example than Shinji Ikari of all people.

Quite a few things I dislike about this episode, which may already be mentioned.

1. Gai knew about the Kaleidoscope.
2. How the hell would Gai predict that the Kaleidoscope dude is synced with his robot in the open without defense? What sort of lieutenant does that?
3. Why does Gai have to wait until the people die to launch the attack? They were ready.
4. Gai predicted everything. Exactly what is that? People would fire at the leader if he's in the open? What is the enemy commander doing driving around in the open? If the undertakers had limited firearms as per the tactician guy, why did the commander's guy say there were too many missiles to intercept? Couldn't they just have blown them up to start with?

After rewatching a bit, the plan made more sense. This also means that the representation was damn poor, as the plan had no explanation what so ever. We were expected to somehow know what the little robots were for even though they didn't explicitly show them shining lasers. Because they really did lack weapons, Gai provokes the enemy commander to fire, making Kaleidoscope an essential part in the plan.

5. I have no clue why there was such significance in that battle it being a "critical" moment as
the tactician guy said that "wouldn't it be too soon?" and we were left without reason. Surely, given the plan, the could have won, but how would they acquire enough fire arms for the future as circumstances allowed them to win this one, not their resources. It is apparent that Gai needs Shu's power to continue. Since he has openly shown himself without ensuring Shu's allegiance, he is vulnerable to attack.

6. From episode 1, Gai was in direct contact with Shu. He could have taken the Vial back. He knew it was a vial as per episode 2. It was in his pocket, direct line of sight. No way could he have missed it. He blames Inori for this? Come on.

As for how Gai knew that Yan's weapon would be the Kaleidoscope... Perhaps there's a way to determine what a person's weapon will be by analyzing there DNA? That's what the OP seemed to be making reference too... And, I imagine it wouldn't be that hard to get the DNA of a soldier.

That's actually a really good hypothesis, I'd be inclined to agree. Either that, or because Gai was originally supposed to be the one to receive the power, maybe he knows more about it, and how it works?

Either that, or his side (Undertaker) has technology to do that, considering they had attained the genome, I'd assume they had technology already to use it with.

I liked the fanservice in the show, the animation is gorgeous and the action is awesome. i was a little annoyed at the cliche in the ending tho. How many times has the hero finished his first mission, tried to retire to his school life, only to have "... We have a new transfer student!" And the chaos follows him into the school. I was really hoping to have a series that wasn't set in a frikkin' high school for once ...

Lots of good stuff but some stuff I'm annoyed or disappointed with too. STill, I liked it ... 4/5

Haha as much as agree with this i would find it very hard for anyone to get DNA from that guy Little own Touch him with that personality :P, I honestly think at this point to many people are Overreacting or trying there best to be nitpicky about every little thing The show isn't perfect~.

No show is perfect.

Even the classics or Steins Gate had issues. In S;G's case it'd be that the only two characters you really care about would end up being Okabe and Kurisu. The other characters would be, just that, other characters.

Anyway, back to Guilty Crown, I liked the episode, hopefully it keeps getting better.

Great. Assholes on all sides. If only the animation would be closer to the artwork I could've liked this episode.

Ok i looked around a bit and i actually found this on another forum

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/convention/2011/new-york-comic-con/22

When asked how Shu knew what sort of weapon he'd draw from a stranger in the second episode, Oyama responded “Another good question. That'll be explained in episode three.”

So just like i said previously in this forum people are nitpicking WAY to much, i even guessed than it would be said in a few episodes, so people need to calm down really... In any case i hope they give a satisfying reason as to why they knew or all these haters will just multiply by the loads lol, all though about the DNA i gotta agree with that theory also since after watching the OP again it doesn't seem so far fetched, what i'm a bit more curious about though is the two other vials since if i remember they said there were 3, so i wonder if all the vials contain the same power or is it different per person, etc. It has a lot of potential, hopefully it uses it properly and keeps getting better.
