| Taichi was really getting on my nerves for a while there... fortunately, it looks like he straightens himself out as he gets older. And I totally love Wataya~ His is a great character. Edit : I can kinda relate to Chihaya's sister. I'm not exactly defending her, but you've gotta take into account the entire family dynamic. Everything seems to revolve around her, so it's only natural that the parents are more interested in her. And until recently, Chihaya didn't have any interests of her own anyway. The way the sister wrote her off may come off as extremely rude, but that's kind of the way families are. You say things to each other that aren't meant to hurt, but there's a level of intimacy that allows for complete honesty. I'm sure it will straighten itself out. |

| Pretty great episode. We got to see how a game really looks like. And childhood memories like those are surely worth treasuring. :D |
| They did a good job of trying to make me hate Taichi. Damn, what was he annoying/mean as a kid. Luckily his attitude improved a bit at the end of the episode. Good episode either way. Sad to see Chihaya gets no real attention from her mother whatsoever, as her big sister takes it all. Her sis doesn't seem like a particularly nice person either. Looking forward to the next episode. |
| Good show... I just can't wait one week for a new episode! I have little problems understanding the rules of karuta: it doesn't make much sense to me to be allowed to touch as many cards as you want without drawbacks. I really want to see what are the family relationships in Chihaya's family in the 'now'. They should have changed for several years. |

| The atmosphere and the natural flow of character interactions. The music! Arrgh. So good! Whether the show will continue to be this good when it returns to the present time is yet to be seen, but so far it's a real treat. Glad I decided to watch this. |

| Seriously what are the parents teaching these kids? Make fun of people who are poor and dont lose to girls in a card game. Japan is still very sexist I see. It was funny seeing Taichi's mom belittle her own sex. |

| So glad Chihayafuru got an anime! The animation is wonderful! I never get the bullying thing, makes me mad but w/e I like the story regardless. Who'd think an anime about a card game could be so interesting. I'm sitting crouched on the edge of my seat like "L" watching Wataya murder the cards lol. |
| this episode shwps that some kids can be so cruel, but it was great that taichi gave wataya back his glasses. Hopefully theyll become friends :D (No i have no read the manga) |

| Man I had low expectations when I read the summary of it. Now I want episode 3, and damn Taichi is a fucken brat. |
| Well at least Taichi redeemed himself and felt sorry for what he did. But Chihaya's sister and mother are selfish cunts, totally irritating people. Excellent episode though. Got a real good feeling about this one. |

| its been a long time since i've seen a shojo anime! haha.. anyway... had to look up karuta in wikipedia to actually understand what this is! hahaha... i'm just wanting because of the romance and shojo stuff.. don't really care about the karuta! hahaha.. (certified shojo addict! hahaha) anyway... dont like taichi.. and the sister.. and the mother.. dont like them hahaha... |
| The first episode was an okay introduction, but this one was pretty good. Very detailed info on everyone's background and a very touching one at that. |

| They really must have thought about this. I mean, I hate it when childhood flashbacks appear in the middle of the story, cutting of the plot, but now it's really well done. We have a bit of an idea where they're coming from, and we can start to sympathize with the characters a bit more. Once again, the scenery and characters really took my breath away. So looking forward to this anime. |

I feel bad for Taichi though - his mother, and so obviously crushing on Chihaya ... ♥ I like what he did at the end though, that was nice I thought :P Haha Arata I think likes her too at the end (first name FTW? Lol) Kind of sad how her sister and her mom both were like "whatever" to her success though ... Seriously loving this, can't wait to catch up lol XD |
