Liked the movie. 9/10 Few questions: 1. What was that right at the end (literally the last frame) where it was some sort of grave with a twig or something? 2. Why were people calling her Lestel and why did she call that woman her mother? |

I have a question too - WHY DOESN'T NAUSICAA WEAR PANTIES?! FFS,I could only stare at her naked butt whenever she was flying,climbing,etc...Would showing her panties make the film like 13+ or something? lol Anyway, very good film and *thumb up* for no-panties Nausicaa! ![]() "Only the dead have seen the end of war". ~Plato~ |

(; did teo look like the coolest / cutest pokemon ever or what!?! |

I really liked it I think it was an excellent movie, but it's the first time I didn't wish for a "happily ever after" end. For me it feels better if Nausicaa would've remain dead to give it more impact :l |

Why has no one commented on the setting and culture of this film? Fucking AMAZING how Miyazaki can build a world and make it ridiculously believable, yet fantastical at the same time. The face masks, the clothing, the damn aircraft, the amazing creature design, the temperature, the land (mountains, valleys, forests...). I think a lot of people take for granted how difficult it can be to craft a world of such intricate detail, and this sort of creativity is something I wish was more prevalent in anime and games. Aside from that, I've always loved the music and chemistry between the different... factions? And the relationships between the Valley of the Wind's villagers, of course. It was thanks to this movie and Castle in the Sky that I fell in love with anime, but I still think this movie's one of the better Ghibli films, and that's saying something. |

It was a good watch, though I'm not completely satisfied with the story and character development to be honest. 7.5/10. |

Sick_Bastard said: Up until the final thirty minuets I was thinking the movie was just so-so, but then after that it just bowled me over. The ending was incredible. Agree with the first part, but especially the ending left me like "come on....". For instance, what are the Ohms to be able to resurrect Nausicaä? Anyway, I never really liked the ending of any Miyazaki films (except, maybe, Spirited Away) - although his films are great otherwise. Jio-Freed said: However parts of the soundtrack seemed a little old, even for this movie. Agreed, although I loved the openig. It's just very few action scenes that have a bad sounding, unfitting or abruptly starting soundtrack - it's not too bad after all. What really blew me away was the art, it almost looked no worse than later Ghibli movies (yeah I know Ghibli has been founded in 1985..), and Nausicaa looks very similar to Tehanu from Gedo Senki, somehow. Story is basically very good, the message is clear, but it suffers from the very same problems as Princess Mononoke. Both their main characters (Nausicaa, Ashitaka) seem to think and act perfectly correctly almost all the time and therefore don't even feel like actual characters. They have too little depth, both of them. Modified by elytSmangnaG, 09-08-12, 11:31 AM |

Some creatures like the Ohms remind me of the enemies in the game Chrono Trigger |

Not Miyazaki's greatest production but good nonetheless. In keeping with Ghibli tradition, there were environmentalist and feminist themes as well as a lot of aircraft which I've always liked seeing in their works. ![]() |

one of the most disappointing movies I've seen in a long time. great visuals regarding the insects and so on, but beside that I feel like I really wasted my time. It also took me around 4 attempts to finally finish it. I assume the manga is (a lot) better - will definitely read it someday. movie gets a 6/10 for me, I did like the scene with the baby ohm but other than that.... nope |

It was a nice movie but I don't see how it's a masterpiece. There was very little character development and I felt almost no tension during except when the village was about to be stampeded. Still it was a nice story and worth watching. The music was well done. 7/10 "Someone who will walk alongside me, someone who will hold my hand, someone who won't mind that it's me" |

Not quite what I expected tbh, but a pretty good movie nonetheless. Joe Hisaishi did a great job with the music, and the animation was nice as well. 7/10 “If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. Beatnik said: Anything following in Miyazaki's vision's footsteps will automatically be underwhelming I guess, no matter what medium. This movie made me cry, but Miyazaki almost always makes me cry. It's just the way his vision weaves and unfolds...it's so beautiful and intricate. I also love how Miyazaki brings how humans are pollutants and need to respect nature more, which I think a lot of people should become aware of. One flaw I noticed in Nausicaa was the fact that said Nausicaa had NO FLAWS. It always irks me when characters are "perfect" and I felt that a lot while watching this. Nevertheless, amazing. |
