That's a shame, I really was looking forward to this. If done correctly, the movie could of been very good, considering some of the content that it was covering.

I haven't seen it yet, but I'll still end up watching it despite the criticism it's received.

This. I mean, I wasn't really expecting much out of this movie, and was going to watch anyway since I am a fan of the manga... but that news doesn't make me feel any better.

Well that's certainly a way to kill your series' rep, a week after the movie came out...

K-ON Movie>this

The last article stated that this movie will be a disappointment. The bad publicity was bound to happen with that kind of article. Akamatsu may have learned a valuable lesson, keep your stuff under wraps and no spoiler articles unless it's extremely vague.

I haven't watched it (yet), but that sounds like mangaka actually have a say in the anime production :O I always thought that was a separate thing...

It varies. Some authors want to be involved, some don't, some production committees want them to be involved, some don't. The author of the ZnT novels for example will be working more closely with the anime production committee for season four, per one of his tweets. They must have wanted him on board and he wanted to be on too.

Akamatsu almost certainly has the clout to get more involved if he wants to, particularly with something of Negima's stature.

The two studios are near Manglobe, so I knew the situation to some extent

What does this even mean?

Manglobe is Hayate no Gotoku! Heaven Is a Place on Earth's animation studio. As much as I like ken's work. I do think he should have kept quiet for a few weeks after the premiere. This is causing bad publicity and lost of profit for all sides.
Iunno I think the consumers are profiting.. penny saved = penny earned (except you don't have to pay tax!)

At the end of the day, if you are a Negima fan, I think you should just go on and watch this with an open mind. If you just listen to all the criticism, I personally don't think you will enjoy it as much.
So maybe Shaft once again fudged things up a bit and Ken didn't contribute as much as we all would have liked (quite frankly, I think the mangaka of a series should have the majority of the say when it's made into an anime since...you know...they CREATED it, but that's not always the way the world works)
But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy watching it. A not-so-good movie is better than no movie at all.
Sigh...I'm rambling. But, yeah. Despite all that's been said, I'm still really looking forward to it >.<
Stay hopeful guys.

As long as the Negi/Kotarou Vs. Rakan/Shadow guy (Forgot name) battle is in it and done right I'll be happy.
