Gundam Rise of the Titans
"If you tremble with indignation at every injustice, then you are a comrade of mine"

When the union's inspiration through the workers' blood shall run
There can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun
Yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one
For the Union makes us strong

If you want to read manga, Mudazumo Naki Kaikaku, it has an anime but you get to see Hitler and other historical political figures if you read the manga.

On the political side:

The 110 episodes + the 52 episodes of the side stories for Legend of the Galactic Heroes should keep you going for a while.

Try Rose of Versailles aswell, brilliant historical show showing the politics leading up to the French Revolution.

Some parts of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex delves into politics, among many other subjects

For the mindgames:

Code Geass as said before, it's silly but its alot of fun even with the mecha

There's also "The Gambling Trilogy" (as I call it) of Akagi (Mahjong) One Outs (Baseball) and Kaiji (Various) where the main outwits in a sporting context

Seconding LoGH, you've got 109 more episodes of exactly what you're asking for.
Also finish Juuni Kokki, not quite as much battle of wits storyline, but political intrigue? Oho yes! It's most clear in the third story arc. It's there by the end of the first arc too, though the first arc starts off rather slowly.
Mugen no Ryvius would be another good one to finish

for a couple of manga: Banana Fish and seconding Sanctuary

This can be seen as a weird sugestion, but you might want to check out Hishoka (Secretarial Section) Drop (manga): a story about a guy who gets into a fortune 500 company despite graduating from a third-rate university. It turns out to be a mistake by personnel, but instead of admitting it, they hide him in the second secretarial section, who are considered "dropouts." Though categorized as "hentai," there is an actual plot that slowly develops, and more mysteries are revealed in time.

I'd have to say Log Horizon and No Game No Life. Both have characters brought into an new world where they have to to use there wit and intelligence in order to survive.

Log Horizon focuses on more politics because, well, they're forming an entire government from scratch.

No Game No Life focuses on mind games a lot but could also be said to implement politics when they compete with the different "clans" (forgot the term they use for them).

Both are awesome anime, in my opinion, anyway. Definitely continue these series.

I guess not many people here have watched Hyouge Mono. it's all about political intrigue during the Sengoku period.

Oh! Edo Rocket is a satire about political repression in the 1840s from the author of Kill la Kill. It's often hilariously funny as well. Surprisingly AKB0048 touches on some of the same issues.

I think Saiunkoku Monogatari is more political than caninesrock does.

Gatchaman Crowds has a rather unique mix of story lines that include politics and social media dressed up as a show about superheroes.

No Japanese anime I've ever watched has anything like the pointed satire of American political comedy. The deferential political culture of Japan discourages anything deeper.

Which leaves only Kingdom for me to suggest. Although 80% of the setting is on the battlefields of ancient China, the approach to war is entirely strategic and political
