That, unfortunately, is also true. Then again, everybody has a bit of hypocrisy in themself.

On other note, I too am shocked by the amount of sexism and hate towards the teacher, particularly her affair with pupil's father. That in no way labels her as a slut. If anything, her reputation as teacher was at risk, nothing else. Regarding Aki, I do think it was rape and it was obviously very wrong, but I do understand why she did this. Monad explained it quite well.

Sorry but i fail to see the rape here. How can you possibly call that a rape? She didn't violently forced him to sleep with her. He could easily have pushed her away so where exactly to you see the rape?
If you are simply calling it a rape because of his age then sorry but i think is ridiculous. The guy was 15 not 7. He might not have been a sex expert but he knew very well what was going on. And is not like she used some special trick or blackmail and lies to get him in bed.
All i saw was consensual sex.

Okay, maybe rape is too strong a word. Still, I don't think it was fully consensual. Just look at his face! He's so blank, he doesn't react at all. Just because he doesn't protest doesn't mean that he wants it. It's like when boyfriend forces himself on girlfriend who's not ready for sex. She doesn't protest because she likes him, she doesn't want to lose him, but does she really want sex so early/now? Of course not.
In Aki's case, he might have not even known how to react. He likely viewed the teacher as a fellow tortured soul, not as sexual object. Sensei might have seeked comfort in physical touch, but Aki was too young to feel that way about sex. Given his relationship with the villagers, it wouldn't surprise me if it was his very first time with a woman. Virgins don't treat it in the same way as people who already have experience.

Aki's age was a factor in that he wasn't ready yet, not in legal sense. In my country 15 is already the legal age to have sex, so no problems here. It's just that Aki's expression and lack of any reaction shocked me to reach the conclusion.

That was the explanation of everything, but now there's nothing to explain anymore about anything. Hibino looks really ugly at that little part at the end. And that insert song was pretty nice.

And in japan its 13. Aki has been 2 years above that already.

Anyway one looks at it its NOT rape its not pedophilia and its nothing illegal.

If she noticed his lack of reaction, she should have stopped. She did not because it was only for her own satisfaction and needs, not his.
Do you mean that you would just go ahead if your partner just lay under you still like a log? I wouldn't. It's supposed to be mutual.

And I never bashed the teacher in a way you imply. I'm not one of her avid defenders, but I'm definitely not a hater either. I do understand her and I don't hate her for what she did. She's not either good or bad, she's a shade of gray.

Seriously WTF are you even talking about? Ignoring the personal beliefs on his reactions or not we didn't even see anything so WTF are you going on about? Did you get some magical 45 minute version of the episode with more content? You are pulling conclusions out of thin air. Did you had a dream or something? Because i saw nothing of how they proceeded on making sex.

*shrug* Let's just leave it as that. They made it intentionally vague to leave it open for interpretation. It stirs more debate this way. :p

Edit: No need to get hostile. I just threw another interpretation into the mix, though I guess the atmosphere isn't too inviting. Bye.

I would just like to say I have no problem with the sexual act itself, just the decision to do that within the context of what's going on.

Also, what they were doing is a little taboo. Some people say there's nothing wrong with what they did, but in reality there is something wrong. I know most schools wouldn't allow a student and a teacher to engage in sexual activities. There are details as to why that is but I don't feel like looking it up right now. There might be a problem with their ages but since I don't know for sure what their ages are I can't say anything about that.

Meh, correct me if I am wrong, but whether consensual or not, to have sex with someone under the age of 16 is considered statutory rape by law in a lot of places. Though I have no clue how old Aki was at the time.

Just ignore the rape comments. The school had pictures of Aki and Chihaya, and their problem was obviously that Aki had a bad reputation.

This attempt to make Chihaya out as a sexual predator is merely the "Chihaya is a slut" crowd grasping at straws.

I AM NOW A HAPPY AKI FAN!
until the special is out

I loved this episode. the direction was amazing. and the insert song fit so well~
I thought the background story would be more exciting, But I was satisfied with it.

I still don't get why Kyohei is so angry at Aki. He knew he didn't kill the teacher, so why all the hate?
I feel pretty bad for Aki not having anyone sympathizing with him. I'm not forgetting all the people he murdered . But with the way the village treated him, I'm not that surprised.

I don't think it's simple misogyny but more like a hate pattern against any character that is actually human. Maybe they hate them because they remind them of their own weakness. Take for example the hate against a character like Shinji from Evangelion and the crazy love against a completely unrealistic overoptimistic fool like Kamina from TTGL.
I think one reason is that most are teenagers with relatively easy lives that just can't empathize with the suffering and emotions characters might have and they just want to see everyone acting like bad-asses. They never really came face to face with there own weaknesses so they have no feelings of empathy against characters that do. They just want to see even more awesome characters than themselves on the screen to idolize instead of a human soul to empathize with.

This contains so much truth.

We had people crying over how "stupid and whiny and weak Saya was in blood+"
We had people complaining over characters with psychological problems and insecurities like the lead of soukou no strain.
We had the whole Katsushiro incident in the ending parts of Samurai7 and fanbase started hating him for that with outrageous intensity.

I don't think what the teacher did was right, But I do agree that made her more human. Having an actual flaw and weakness.

and despite it all, I think she genuinely cared for Aki.

Not really if you think that this village does not have cops at all even. So unless the villagers do anything to me, my glorious 32 years old means sweet fuck all with being with a girl like Utao. If there is not sex I could freely walk around the village holding her hand and no one would mind. Compared to Tokyo where suspicions and arrest are sure to come. Things like that did happen in the past.

Point being is the law was too relaxed in the village IMO. Less Aki's family would do something then I don't see who would do in that village. Everyone is just like chicken shit of those 2 families TBH.

totally turned me away from the series, probably won't pick it up again until i watch enough cute romantic comedies.

i don't mind the teacher sleeping with the dad at all, but the fact that everyone is trolling her pisses me off. in fact the entire village pisses me off. dude made the right choice of leaving the village. i assume kyohei doesn't know that his crush raped aki, but considering how much he hates him it's a possibility.

and most of the character in the village seem to go into rage over very trivial things.

I don't really get it, what did Aki try to tell Kyouhei? To come over to the dark side? But well I liked it, poor Kyouhei and Aki though. I didn't liked the slutty teacher at all but nvm her, she's not gonna show up again...

It's just that I don't understand what Aki wants from Kyouhei, what is the reason he escaped prison and came after him in Tokyo? Does he want to team up with him? Kill him (but why, he's the one who killed slutty sensei)?...

And I kinda expected that Kyouhei would've taken part in the killing, based on the previous hints/short flashbacks it looked like they both killed them but I guess that's not really in his nature. Makes me wonder how the serie will end though

The teacher was not a slut. Aki was probably 15 (maximum16) years old since in Japan students go to college at age 18/19, and Kyohei and Hibino are on first year college, and the events of this episode happened 3 years ago.

As stated in wikipedia about Japan consent law:
"The national age of consent in Japan is 13 years old as specified by the Japanese Penal Code Articles 176 and 177. However, prefectures can have ordinances that prohibit sexual activities with any minor under 18 years old."

This seems like teenagers dont have sex. Wrong. Just think at the crazy night parties where people under 18 go, to drink and "have fun" and i think you´ll change your mind about the teacher being a slut.

There so much debate in this episode, mostly because of the young teacher having intercourse w/ Aki. I apparently didn't mind her having sex w/ that unmarried man and the child being traumatize was sad, but seriously, the father could of lock the door lol

The character of the young teacher wasn't what I predicted beforehand in episode 6, I'm sure everyone thought she be a young virgin teacher, who is perfect and the village is full of douche bags.

4/5 for this episode.

Shame the animation goes down on an epic episode like this o_O
If I wasn't sure I hated Senou well I sure know I hate her now. At first I was like good for you slapping Atsushi like that, and I thought the blackboard writing was a classic make up a random rumour so she gets fired. THEN IT WAS TRUE O_O WOW GOOD JOB THERE. Then WTF with Aki?! (Oh and lol censor) Just ... so, so wrong >_< Oh and then her implied rape ... yep o_O I'm glad she died though but ... ugh ... I dunno, it was just weird D;
I have to say that the scene with Aki killing everyone (in the red) was actually really well done. It seems like he has a special type of connection with his doll. I'm wondering how this controlling thing works? It seems like more than one person can control a doll. I wonder if this will be explained :O
So, Aki was really quite awesome (I think I love his seiyuu now lol). Moyako likes / liked Aki. Kyohei obviously liked the sensei. I wonder why he still hates Aki though? I mean he knows he didn't kill her ... well ... let's see what happens next episode :P
Oh and the ED was quite nice (but why no subs? Lol >_<)

poor aki, his first love should've been utao or something (i know, know that's impossible, but admit it would be way better than that teacher!)

^ My thoughts summed up nicely. Best episode in the series; one of my favourite in any series, actually. Unlike the rest of the show, which lacked direction, this ep had a set goal, with shocks along the way, and that was that.

Really is embarrassing just how immature most posters are on MAL. The teacher did nothing wrong by having sex with an unmarried father--she couldn't find any work because her student freaked out and got himself killed; creating a scandal. After that, the only place she could find work was in the middle of nowhere, and just because the local rapist couldn't get between her legs the nice way, she became a hated outcast of the village. The anime did a FANTASTIC job of making me feel sorry for her as her psychological state deterioarated over a very short amount of time, episode-wise.

As for her sleeping with Aki: she was left completely isolated other than two people and one of them was there when she needed to cling to SOMETHING for support, after being attacked. Her explanation over how Aki's eyes reminded her of her former pupil -> sex was odd, but with her post-sex "Take me away, please..." line, it was OBVIOUS she slept with him more out of how desperate her situation was than anything.

Also: Kyohei was a pussy. He had the power of his doll yet did NOTHING to protect the teacher he cared for. Aki is much more likable as a character and had more of a 'lost, lonely souls' connection with the teacher.

I could not stop rolling my eyes at the ridiculous drama. And for such an emotionally packed episode the only thing that got to me was the dog's death. Kind of hate the teacher mostly because of Kyohei's adoration of her (and after reading a few comments it annoys me that so many MAL users dubbed her a slut. Her choices may be questionable but what day and age do you people live in?). Aki's relationship with her was creepy but Kyohei's just seems nonsensical. I have to assume a lot about Kyohei's character to make sense of it because otherwise he truly loves this random lady despite barely knowing her. I'll give the series some credit if Kyohei becomes a more rounded character by the end of the series. So far he's two different people in my eyes and I don't like either of them.

And she was raped, so the ones who think its an enjoyable experience and that it was her fault , should go think twice and think about the ridiculous things that are saying. spare us with those comments, its because of people like you that the world is a mess.
She was raped? By the kid's father? Sounds the me the slut term around even to me is because she did nothing to say no to sex. Things leading to each other is not a excuse to say OK to sex from a father that has a son and that son gets traumatized. I would not have accepted or lead things to something sexual like that neither would I stay in the village after it containing a fucker like Atsushi. I could understand no jobs around makes you want to keep this job but if it means being a fuck machine for guys in the village because they never saw a women like Chihaya then fuck it obviously.

Not trying to defend Sensei or anything. But she did fling her body in front of Aki and saved him. She truly did have feelings for Aki to sacrifice her life for him. I'm not sure where all this hate is coming from.
That's the only thing I accept and respect her for the hatred is from before she did that.

I know this is late, I'm just watching it now....but... I mean come on... she is sooooo disgusting it's crazyyyyy.... There is no respect.... If it was a adult man trying to dick an underage girl then there would be no respect no matter what.
