The Japanese fans that I follow are all saying that they're hopeful. The wording of the translation is kind of rough and is conveying a different voice. If the Japanese fans that watched the stream are saying they have hope, then I'm right there with them. ^^ (I watched the stream too, but kept spacing out, so I kinda missed the exact wording during that part. Caught plenty of Gatoh leering at 'Lina though >.> Perv. Drunken perv. XD) ![]() |

Wow, guys, calm down a bit - it's a translation so latching onto the very subtle distinction between "when it is canceled" and "if it is canceled" and "when and if it is canceled" can be dangerous. I'm sure he's not implying that it is definitely going to be canceled and that it's only a matter of time. It makes more sense to assume he is simply saying that he won't say anything else on the matter until and unless it gets canceled, because if it really does get produced the announcement won't come from him, but from PR from the production committee/broadcaster. And it's hardly his fault either way, he's a mangaka not a broadcast exec or financial investor making the decision to front the required cash for production. I'm sure he would want it to be adapted. This. (and *ahem* pet peeve... Gatoh isn't a mangaka. He's an author, plain and simple. All the art in the novels is done by a different person, all of the manga are done by other people. He's not an artist, he doesn't draw. He just writes some awesomely epic words ^^) But, yes, honestly. It's a rough translation, and if the series was definitely getting cancelled, it would have been, and he would have been saying something much different. I know it's been a long time, but c'mon FMP fans, hang in awhile longer. ^^ Busy yourself with other stuff until that announcement comes. Me, I'm gonna be polishing off my Japanese by reading the new novel series! Woo, enthusiasm!! I has it! (And no life! Wooo!) I was watching the stream, none of the comments were crying about a lack of anime. They were intrigued. There was a ton of "OOOOOOOOO" floating across the screen at that point. The Japanese fans have hope and are intrigued! So stop being so glum over a rough translation! XD Modified by CrystalOkamino, 08-03-11, 5:28 PM ![]() |

What's the big deal? Isn't this the very first time Gatoh ever mentioned a fourth season being in the works? I'm not sure what you are worried about. Nothing has changed to yesterday. But now we know they really are planning on doing one. There is a project for a new season. It just needs to be greenlit. Still even when it does one day it will still take a certain amount of time until it is ready to be broadcasted. And if the project for a new season gets canceled (which it never will) he will tell you. Sounds good to me. |

In a more ideal anime world, Kyoani would continue FMP and put out a season of Haruhi at least once a year. But I doubt either is likely to happen. |

Why bother with all those spin off if none are ever gonna get animated? I hope the translation is off xD |

Oh, crap. Didn't even know there was three seasons of it. I must watch this show, sooner or later, since it's an apparent masterpiece. ZELDUH |

Radzeer said: Blame KyoAni for spewing out nothing but SoL stuff like crazy lately... Sora wo Miageru Shoujo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai, Clannad, and Haruhi Shoushitsu don't qualify as Slice of Life in any meaningful sense. It's like people use that term to mean "the characters are alive!" K-ON! fits, absolutely, Nichijou if we allow for the lives to be a bit surreal, but it's not like that's all they've done since FMP. It's closer to half and half really. More importantly, animation studios generally don't instigate animation projects. Production committees (i.e. the people with the money) do. As a major and successful studio KyoAni will have likely more leeway over what projects they take than most other studios, but they're still just a studio and don't call the shots. Someone hires a studio to do work. And last but not least, KyoAni isn't the only anime studio. I'd love for them to handle season four but there are a number of other studios I would feel confident seeing handle it. If there are interested financial backers who want to make another season a reality, I doubt very much that they are required to wait until KyoAni decides to do it.
