Mikansen is a mistaken interpretation and shouldn't be a synonym and Mikanbun I assume is a typo because that doesn't mean anything. Maybe add Mikanbune as a synonym unless there's an established standard about where hyphens go in romanization (I don't think they're supposed to be used at all actually...) Correct me if i am wrong. 馬具田城 means Baghdad castle, not Baghdad. 馬具田 is written all in kanji, it's not a 'loanword', romanizing based on foreign spelling is only done for loanwords written in katakana, such as the modern spelling of Baghdad which is バグダード, and is actually pronounced more like Baghdad (Bagudaado), while 馬具田 is pronounced Baguta and associates a meaning to the name. Here you're just switching out one random word for arbitrary reasons (because the 'authority' of AniDB deems it so). But put it in Google Translate and it won't even give you Baghdad, it will give you the meaning of the kanji. Hell, the Wikipedia page for Baghdad in Japanese has no mention of 馬具田. I'm starting to doubt it means Baghdad at all. Either way it's clearly not a common reading, let alone a loanword. Finally, there's no associated reading in the movie, the title card is only written in kanji. What you wrote is hiragana, not katakana. The pronunciation is based on the kanji readings (and confirmed by the narrator of the film). If you see the reading on AniDB or something it's because they wrote it themselves. Can you see my point of view that this is just translating a random word for no reason? It happens to mean Baghdad here, but it's not a loanword, and it's not pronounced like even the Japanese pronunciation of Baghdad. It's just AniDB fucking up on a film that nobody watched. That's not an issue to romanization, it can/should be written as it's pronounced. Mikansen is perpetrated by people who only know the title and read it wrong, and Mikanbun doesn't mean anything and isn't a valid reading of みかん船. Anyway, for both of these titles, why would you trust AniDB over IMDB? Just because it's more specialized doesn't mean it's more authoritative, actually quite the opposite. Since it's not uploaded online or anything (and it's public domain if you don't like me saying that) I doubt anyone verified the titles at AniDB. Might have to be Baguda-jou instead of Bagudajou because of the jou being a separate word (but connected) but other than that I'm confident. And I submitted creqs for those titles to AniDB too. What was the reason for the Princess Resurrection rejection? The Japanese sites list 怪物王女as the title with かいぶつおうじょ under it to indicate pronunciation. Then Princess Resurrection in addition to the side as the English title--with no hiragana/furigana at all to show how Japanese people should pronounce it like unlike other pure-English titles ex. Princess Tutu, Guilty Crown, Death Note, etc. which do have it. | 2cool4fun, Toei Video which is credited for producing/releasing Teito Monogatari is a subsidiari of Toei Animation, they are not the same thing, also Madhouse did the animation work. | I submitted a change the synopsis to say between eps 11-12 instead of 12-13 because the announcer says 'instead of ep.12'/'before ep.12' (i think) during it but online sources claim otherwise (jp wikipedia). but it is a new year special and if you search for the air date of ep 12 i believe it says january 7, which would make it fall in line with that. please let me know if that makes sense |
