Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou

The ones that are airing now are a series of 5 minute shorts that were extracted from what is planned to be the main series. Note there are already 4 of these aired for 2 weeks each on nicovideo, and there is probably going to be a few more.

The duration of each episode in the main airing is planned to be 30 minutes each, as stated in the official twitter account.

Therefore, this pre-aired version should be differentiated from the main airing, sort of like how there's a separate entry for Working!! 2 Announcement Specials.

Galaxy Angel Z

Unlike the first series which has an OP and ED for every 12 minutes, each episode in Z is defined by an OP and ED for every 24 minutes involving two short stories.

In addition, there's always a little something in between the two short stories as a part of that episode, which would be neglected if the episode number counted each short story separately.

Therefore, the episode number for this is 9 instead of 18, and the duration is 24 minutes instead of 12 minutes.

Otherwise, animes like Dantalian no Shoka should have an episode number of 14 instead of 12.

I'm going to be watching a rerun of Galaxy Angel 3 starting next week, so I may make another post for that too.

Also, if there's a mistake in the detail text, you can just resubmit and it'll overwrite the wrong info. Anyway, fixed things up, I hope.

We won't be able to know that until the main airing starts in January. One sure thing is, they won't have those telops on both sides saying this anime starts airing in January.

Another thing is, the current OP/ED (20 seconds each) is rather short if this project is intended to be your average 24-minutes-per-episode anime.

In any case, I think "pre-airings" is fine. It says 先行配信ver. (Pre-Airing Version) on the nicovideo title anyway.

Galaxy Angel 3

For the same reasons as Galaxy Angel Z, this should be 26 episodes of 24 minutes each.

-aired as 24-minute episodes
-OP/ED every 2 12-minute short stories
-next episode preview encompasses 2 short stories
-always a little something in between the short stories that would be neglected if individual stories were treated as episodes

Galaxy Angel 3 Specials

There are 4 13-minute or so short stories concerning this.
1 is in the DVD 1~3 special package.
2 is in the DVD 4~6 special package.
3 and 4 are in a separate DVD called Galaxy Angel S.

The current episode number is 3, but I'm not sure if this is accurate.
There definitely are 4 short stories not aired on TV, but according to Wikipedia, only 3 and 4 are considered a part of the Special (SP), also known and sold as Galaxy Angel S. The other two are just labeled as un-aired episodes.

Options:
-Change the episode number to 4 and add Galaxy Angel S as an alternative title.
-Create a separate entry for Galaxy Angel S (2 eps) and change the ep number for Galaxy Angel 3 Specials to 2.

I would recommend the former, because Galaxy Angel S is treated as a part of Galaxy Angel 3.

It's exactly as you stated.

Galaxy Angel 3 Specials: 2 episodes, 13 minutes each (not aired on TV)
Galaxy Angel S: 1 episode, 24 minutes (aired on TV)

I haven't watched Galaxy Angel 3 Specials or Galaxy Angel S, nor do I know if I will be able to. I just watched Galaxy Angel 3 episode 1 before my initial post. I'm not sure if there any alternative titles used in Specials/S. On the table of episodes, the un-aired Specials are left blank while Galaxy Angel S is labeled SP. I'm not exactly sure whether this just means generic specials, or if it says SP somewhere in the actual video.

I apologize for my carelessness. I'll be more careful next time.

I recently had my submission denied.

Manyuu Hikenchou Picture Drama

These are NOT the same as the Manyuu Hikenchou Specials

These Picture Dramas are just that. Still images with dialogue (like the Code Geass Picture Dramas). The specials (link above) are short anime segments (with movement).

The denied message I received said that the Picture Dramas were included with the Specials.

This is only true if you see the forum posts...

If they were included the total episode count would be 8 and not 4.

Also the anime specials are 2 minutes each, the Picture Dramas are 4 minutes each.

Official Site (the title on the "tab/window" (not the image on the site), it says 映画プリキュアオールスターズNS (ニューステージ) みらいのともだち. Also when it was approved, it got one more "みらいのともだち" added in Japanese title.)

And I just checked More Info. of Magic Kaito, the change is not done.

Seems like just one series - Manga Nihon Mukashi Banashi. The movie doesn't even have a synopsis. As for the 2005 version, isn't this just the other versions digitized from the original show? For the rest, they're DVDs from the original TV series, Manga Nihon Mukashi Banashi. Their cover pictures even say 'compiled by Sayumi Kawauchi.'

Worth checking out?

@nextday: No thanks, it's not a stylisation when it's all caps, it's an all caps font choice that's extremely common for musical artists and so I won't edit it. It's another matter when it's all lower-case, as it's much closer to the title case. Anyway, short answer: No, sorry.

@TsukikageRan: I looked it over and I figure that if the 2005 version is a digitised, it was probably completely redrawn? It's kind of hard to tell though without actually having access to these series and that's a pretty impossible task. The movie is on allcinema so I figure it's legit. I'll have to look a bit more at the other entries but I don't have time now but I'll make a note of doing that soonish.

According to ANN - "2005-10-19 (Digitally-remastered rebroadcast)" which is like taking your LPs/cassettes and turning them into mp3s. It would be the same drawings/animation just turned into 0s and 1s and then probably tweaked for a brighter, more contemporary look. The 2005 synopsis is the one for the original Manga Nihon Mukashibanashi (1975-1994).
The movie has the same duration as the regular episode, that's why I thought it's another solo episode DVD release. Three of the entries even share the same cover.

Anyway, thanks again for everything.

BTW, when I submit a new title for the DB and I forgot to include the synopsis, MAL complains and does not allow it; yet I keep seeing "No synopsis has been added for this series yet. Click here to update this information." How do they do that? Just curious...

Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor

I suggest that the episode number be changed from 25 to 26.

On the initial airing, episodes 25 and 26 were aired together as a one-hour special, under one subtitle, within one OP and ED.

In the DVD, as well as the nicovideo re-airings going on now, episodes 25 and 26 are separated, with an additional next episode preview after episode 25 and each episode having its own subtitle.

Given that no one should be watching the initial airing now, I believe it is more relevant to have the episode number be 26.

It was announced during the pre-airing at the Yuurakuchou Asahi Hall on December 1st. I suggest we wait for more information before we decide whether this series is complete with one episode or not.

Either way, there's no doubting that this is an ONA though.

Also, I don't know how MAL decides on airing dates, but the one on nicovideo was a pre-airing. The actual airing on the HP/Bandai doesn't begin until Saturday, December 10th, 12:00PM Tokyo Time.

@TsukikageRan: Yeah, you're probably right. I still need to look further into it though. As for the synopsis thing, I manually add the relevant text + link myself. There's a slight bug there if I remove the synopsis entirely, MAL fills in the exact same message but with a moderator link, so people can't actually submit anything. Just one of those lovely MAL bugs...

@ap19: We go by the number of airings, not episodes. This is also the reason why for example Princess Tutu is 38 episodes. There are other examples (most of the time it's when there are 2 episodes in 1 airing) but I'm too lazy to think of them now and I think you understand my point.

@nextday: Set to ONA and fixed Rinne. I thought the Kyousougiga preview was going to be in a proper theater but apparently it was just some convention center or something.
If you've see some all caps people names, please let me know :) We haven't gone over everything and don't really plan to any time soon so we deal with them on a case-by-case basis. But mostly I try to remove all caps whenever I can.

@ap19 & nextday: As for the TV series of Kyousougiga, it's not off-topic here :) But I'd prefer some more concrete proof, I think. In any case, there's no immediate rush here. We use the earliest official date, pre-airings or not, JST ignoring 24+ hour days. We ignore leaks though, which is why we didn't set the IS OVA to 05 December.

2. "Getsumen To Heiki Mina" can be marked as a spin-off of "Train Man (Novel)". Although the "Getsumen To Heiki Mina" is directly related to the tv drama, the tv drama is an adaption of "Train Man (Novel)".

@zanetu: I feel the Genshiken relations are fine. The TV series wasn't really a spin-off of Genshiken, it was a spin-off of the OVA, which in turn was a spin-off of Genshiken. In any case, there are relations that lead from Genshiken to the TV series of Kujian so I don't see the point.

We can't link manga/novels and anime with a spin-off relation. I'd suggest posting here: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=60876 for a manga relations fix instead.

Im just wondering is there a specific reason why this letter を is transcripted in to English as "wo" when its read and pronounced as "o" ?

The title confused me for a second as I was trying to translate.
Listen to things your father says!....but then I stopped, thinking, what the hell is this wo here.

Its just confusing in romaji...Im not making a big deal here, I just want to know is this a general rule of romaji or smth?

The correct pronunciation to を is wo, (and I think before WWII, it was pronounced as "wo"), but because of the current time Japan reading "o", we hear them as "o" instead of "wo" (It's really hard to explain this). And wo is just a particle(?) that connects "パパのいうこと" and "聞きなさい". It would be weird without that particle in Japanese.

This kind of question actually relates to Japanese grammar and the History behind the changes of Japanese language.

Edit: I just saw your profile and learned you are actually Japanese. I guess you already know all about what I said before? I'll just add one more thing. We learn romaji of "を" as wo, even if it's pronounced as "o" nowadays.

As tsubasalover says, the particle を can be read as wo or o. We use wo on MAL because of tradition and because most people use wo. Similarly but different, we use e and not he for へ and we use wa for は and not ha because of tradition.

In other words, we do 2 out of 3 correctly. There is some internal discussion about switching wo over to o but it probably won't happen.

I think I brought some confusion here. Im neither a Japanese, or have English as my mother tongue. Im of a third kind. Something more Eastern Europe.

を is read as "o" and I think only reason why transcript it to "wo" is to avoid confusion with お. Which is kinda unnecessary as を is always a particle, never a letter in a word.
That being said when へ and は play the role of particle for place/direction and subject connection, its not because of the tradition that you use e and wa, but because they are read that way. Read them as "he" and "ha" while they signify a particle and you made a big mistake.

I understand that its hard, and now that I know, I wont be confused. I think I get what rules MAL is following now.
