I don't mind the whole semen succubus thing...Thats sort of what a succubus is.
But it was a ten year old girl and that's just beyond me. By a friggen lot.

If it's actually a good story and such....well fuck. How am I supposed to know?
The producers and distributes completely and utterly failed in trying to harness another market after the lolo and ecchi markets failed.

Yeah, T&B selling well is a mystery. It's all about westernization, japs seem to love that shit.

Probably what the show needed to sell more, was actually more fanservice. I'm not saying that would've made it better, I'm just saying it would've probably sold a lot more that way.

Oh how I love the inconsistency.

MAL Poster's Guide to Pissing on Shows:
1) If a show you don't like sells well, say "Of course it sold, Japan has no taste and buys mediocre/shit shows!"
2) If a show you don't like sells poorly, say "Of course it didn't sell, it was mediocre/shit!"
3) If a show you like sells well, say "Oh I guess Japan finally discovered taste!", because clearly your personal preferences are universal truth and everyone was wrong until they started agreeing with you.

Now you have all your bases covered! It may be completely self-contradictory, but this is the internet, that's never stopped anyone!

one can always wait for Comiket(or the next less important doujin event). For sure Lotte's doujins will sell more than its BDs.

Is doujin really the right word when someone is doing a manga of their own IP?

I don't think she herself has money issues seeing as she bought five copies of the show. She expressed disatisfaction at the fact the Anime studio and all the investors took a loss on the show. She herself makes her main income on manga anyway.

It said she wanted to pay off a huge debt, though

Yes, so is Watashiya Kaworu, creator of Kodomo no Jikan. Tends to surprise people.

The wording is a bit misleading - the "debt" isn't her debt, it's the debt incurred by the production committee that financed the anime (and even that I doubt is monstrously huge - it's a good looking show but unlikely to have a massive budget behind it). By buying copies of the BD/DVD she is making a token gesture saying "I can't plug the financial gap myself but I'm buying this in support".

There is nothing in the article to address her own financial standing, but it is unlikely to be seriously affected by the success or failure of the Lotte anime. Original creators are generally not involved in a deep financial sense with adaptations, and wouldn't have the money to be anyway. Otherwise nobody would ever want their work to be adapted because they could be hosed if it failed badly.

Personally, it's not her job to feel responsible for it, if you ask me... shows sell poorly all the time, and the line between a sub-Manabi Line series and a solid 5-7k hit can be as thin as one great episode or one really popular character. Lotte just didn't make it, unfortunately.

You'll be surprised at some of these loli anime even Mitsudomoe was created by a woman. There are women who like and write about cute little girls, lolicon is not just a man's fantasy anymore.
