I'd rather see more Hidan no Aria than more Denpa Onna to be honest. At least Aria is somewhat entertaining.

This !!!
seriously , denpa onna has one of the best character design but that's it !!!!!! just showing off how cute is ario or whatever !! on the other hand aria is more enjoyable & actually has a story !!!!!!!

wish for a sequel for aria :3

No, Denpa has Meme-san. Meme-san is enough reason for a second season, who cares about Erio.

Hidan no Aria does not have Meme-san, it has Riko, but she just isn't Meme-san.

one episode for 4,200 yen? that's not really enticing if they're looking for sufficient sales.

Excellent points, but I still think Denpa is a waste of an interesting studio.

One ep for 53 US dollars, they lost it.

I will be picking up Denpa Onna once three volumes are available then pick up the other 3 in December. Second Season is something I want from this anime.

i prefer denpa anyways, it was a far more interesting anime. although it seems to be slightly misleading, but interesting none the less.

what i find to be sad is that sales are everything now. understandably, but some really good anime may never get second seasons simply because of bad sales. and in the coming years you will probably see less and less sales. especially now with the recession i am not sure that even the more hardcore anime lovers have that much cash going around.

Anime that are just good products are starting to sell more and more. Putting out mediocre shows will almost always give you the same in return.
not true, highschool of the dead is god awful and it sold like hotcakes

ref. the Blu-ray + DVD sales of the first volume
Hidan no Aria: 6,356 copies (one episode, 4,200 yen)
Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko: 6,628 copies (two episodes, 7,350 yen)

So... to buy one episode of Hidan no Aria was $52 and to buy two episodes of Denpa Onna is $90.

Aria is being too expensive with each episode.

Hidan no Aria was a mediocre anime at best, but I'm definitely not surprised there are not enough sales for Aria to make a second season.

EDIT:

I can actually agree with you and I think the only reason why it was sold very quickly was, I guess the ecchi factor in it.

One word: Overrated.

Lol, fail. Why am I not surprised? Hidan no Aria sucked so bad a certain fansub group gave it troll subs for half the season (which was hilariously justified). I never watched that Denpa Onna one, though, but from what I have seen on this forum it didn't do too well either.

Eh, it was expected. Hidan no Aria was bad, no way to doubt it. I’m actually relieved they didn’t get as much profit to be able to make a second season.

… And regarding Denpa Onna, if a second season is possible, bring it on SHAFT. I’ll gladly watch it. It’s much better than Aria, IMHO.

Hidan is a very bad adaptation of the LN... and for Denpa, it's sometimes good(first episodes), sometimes too boring because Shaft wants to do too much and fails...

Oh thank God. I'm happy I dropped this show around episode 4.

I am laughing, for several reasons.

One, I find the idea of selling a single episode on DVD/Blu-Ray for that price to be absolutely ridiculous. Two, Hidan no Aria is terrible. I am finishing it to the end despite its suckage, but only because I'm a completionist and hate dropping titles. Three, while I am not sure Denpa Onna needs a second season, I'm amused that it's getting consideration for it over Hidan no Aria. Wasn't HnA one of the highest anticipated series for this season? Hah.

It tells you one thing Rie tsundere=bad sales

Lets see

Dragon Crisis (Flopped in Sales selling only 580 in it's first volume)
Astarotte no Omocha (Did terribly in sales and this was the better series)
Hidan no Aria (Didn't make enough for S2, so close though)

Idolm@ster will be the exception, since the fanbase is insane in Japan, I'm planning on getting it myself and it hasn't even been out yet.

Highschool of the Dead is great and it sold decently. Shows like Tiger and Bunny and Steins;gate are selling very well. Neither of the shows have super large fanbases and weren't build to be runaway hits (Madoka).

Denpa onna would do better if they hadn't blurred Erio's panties in episode one. They should have paid more attention to the detail.

Honestly, that is slightly surprising about Hidan no Aria, because 6k+ in the first week is usually reasonably comfortable sequel territory. However as others noted, the subsequent volumes could drop a lot because the first volume was cheaper.

It also depends a lot on the budget, and the value of doing more of that property versus other more lucrative properties. So while 6k+ might be great for other shows, for JC Staff it might not be considered the best way to spend their time. Especially given how much better Infinite Stratos did in that same time slot.

I never got past episode one of Aria however, so I'm not overly invested in it either negatively or positively. Unfortunate for the fans of it though.

Denpa on the other and is an utterly amazing show (definitely watching the last two episodes tonight), and I will be extremely happy if it gets a second season. Shaft loves doing sequels anyway, so with better than expected sales (rankings indicated it would be more like 4-5k) it seems to have quite good chances. Certainly I'm doing my part, and already have the first BD in hand with more preordered.

That censor was pure ass, also there is no other fanservice in this anime so it was unnecessary.
