Nanatsuiro Drops was very average, it ended up a poor quality version of Nanoha

Putting aside whether it was good or not (I thought it was okay, nothing amazing), how in the... Nanoha? That is definitely not the first show I'd compare the average magical girl show to. Would make more sense to compare it to all the other more traditional magical girl shows, not the second-most genre-atypical magical girl show ever (behind Madoka of course).

I agree. Yamamoto needs to either learn how to direct or stfu. If he's in denial that's fine, but he can't go interfering other people's work just because "omg, they couldn't understand my greatness !". Seriously wtf.

I'll bite. The first comment about it being the worst show needs to watch more shows and/or get better taste.

Anyway, without spoiling too much, what I really liked about Nanatsuiro Drops was the romance aspect, not the mahou shoujo part (which didn't really get cool until Sumomo gets her resolve, and even then, it's dropped in the last few episodes in favor of the drama anyway). So comparing it to Nanoha is not only completely off, but even comparing it to other traditional mahou shoujo isn't right, since the couples in those typically only get established at the end, whereas this anime goes further than that and settles things in the middle.

Sure, every show has something it does at least a little differently than other shows. That's why I tend not to agree with "X is totally just a rehash of Y" comments. I think fans are much too quick to dwell on similarities and disregard differences, and this promotes the vast, sweeping generalizations western fans so often make when bitching about how everything is the same nowadays, when that's kind of an absurd claim.

Still, Nanatsuiro Drops has much more in common with traditional magical girl archetypes (a couple being established early doesn't invalidate that) than Nanoha, which is why I replied to the idea that it could be a poor man's Nanoha, or an anything's Nanoha really. Nanatsuiro is a magical girl show aimed at males (it's an eroge adaptation after all), yes, but that alone doesn't make them similar. That's basically all I was getting at.

I guess that rules out a season 2 or OVA? :p

Seriously tho, disappointing to hear, loved the anime, not really sure what every ones problem with it was, other than being a bit shorter than it should have probably been.

DURR~AAAMMMAAAAAA!!!! Especially in the anime x manga industry is srs bsnz.

I don't understand how he thinks he has DA POWA to terminate the manga when this bane of his existence is an adaptation of it.

I may be misreading your comment, but although the manga started first, Fractale was originally conceived as an anime, as far as I've ever heard. Or I guess it's more accurately described as a deliberately mixed-media franchise, like Angel Beats! A light novel and manga slightly preceded the Angel Beats! anime, but Angel Beats! is not "an adaptation" of a manga or light novel. It's all part of the same project, with the anime as the centerpiece.

Either way, you're undoubtedly correct that he has no formal authority whatsoever over the fate of the manga. But I don't think he thinks he does - he's just being Yamakan. And Yamakan unfortunately cannot go a month without doing something controversial.

Wait, hang on. Is the anime covering he same story as the manga, or is the manga gonna go continue farther than it? Does it have more story behind it?

The only reason I can see him trying to cancel the manga is if the manga had the same exact story within it with no further continuation on development, in which case the anime would ruin the manga anyway.

I hope this isn't the case, cause I would like to read the manga as well and draw my own conclusions about it. To have it canceled mid-story for some arbitrary reason isn't going to go over well.

I hate Fractale. The first two episodes were kind of interesting, but then the show just falls completely apart. The animation is sloppy, the characters - with the exception of Nessa - are either bland, hateful, or cruel, plot holes are frequent and giant, the humor is awful (Enri saying ecchi over and over again !=funny), and the attempts at romance between Clain and Phryne are so forced and contrived it borders on hilarious. And, as mentioned earlier, the character design changes stink and ruin one of the biggest plot points in the entire series.

Yamamoto is a joke, and he hasn't directed anything noteworthy in five years. (No, not even Kannagi.)
