I'm enjoying Aishiteruze Baby. It's not so serious that I have trouble getting through it, and not so silly that there's no tension pulling me forward through the series.

Aww. It's starting to be a bit too Hallmark after the halfway mark ... Hope it returns to form, soon.

Every time Hayate no Gotoku is mentioned, I'm reminded about how the third season needs to hurry up and be put out already...

Some thoughts on other stuff I went through recently:

Spice and Wolf could use another season. Love the chemistry of Holo and Lawrence and their hustling tactics. A must-see for romance fans.

Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora brought something different to the table, at least for me. It's a shame that the story felt rushed and the production was lackluster, but it was still fairly entertaining.

Sora no Woto seems to be quite underrated, at least according to MAL. I think any of you who liked K-On! will like this one. Seems to have more story and drama to it, although it retains a good amount of moe and lightheartedness to balance things out.

Does anyone feel that Saber becomes a bit too Mary Sue-ish in Fate/Zero?

"Why, yes, I'm blonde, beautiful, proud, good, I have an invisible sword, I can manipulate air, I'm super strong, I regenerate the health of anyone that holds my sword's scabbard, I regenerate my armour, I perform crazy acrobatics ... and guess what? I walk on water, too."

Fate/Zero2 has some making up to do.

Hell yeah, glad to see there are people who like Sora no Woto. It is my favourite anime from winter 2010 season.

I think I'm somewhere in the 5+, 10- span. Which is odd, for me. I almost never rewatch anything. This and BtVS (the series, not the movie) are some of the few things I've bothered to rewatch occasionally. Also Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Love it.

Yeah, 5th Element was great and I was old enough to actually have seen it in the theater.

So I finally finished Fate/Stay Night, which was harder than expected. Started out pretty nice. After a few episodes I felt like finishing the whole series in one go. It got pretty good and I was happy, but then .... no. What the fucking hell.

The last 5-8 episodes were one of the hardest episodes to finish. It got worse and worse. There appeared arbitrary things all over the place, random bullshit which were stitched together to make it look as if it all fit together in the end ... but it didn't at all.
As a whole I felt like fapping to a very high quality porn and right before you jerk off, the camera switches from the hot lady to the fat old background actor behind the scene.

I somehow compare it to Chrno Crusade. I shed a small man-tear at the end of that. But here, I was more like pissed than anything else.

Probably the perfect TL;DR: Saber, so pretty !!! Fate/Stay Night not quite :-(

bb, I suggest Hajime no Ippo. I've only seen the first episode yet, but it looks like its going to be a decent watch.

I reached my 20th real-time day of watching anime with the last episode of Kill Me Baby!

Episode 13 was the funniest, too, which makes this achievement all the sweeter. ^^ If any of you haven't seen Kill Me Baby yet, you should, if just for the art and the VOs.

20 days ... I finally feel like I'm no longer an anime noob. ;P

Niice! Feels good, doesn't it?

I just crossed the 30-day mark not too long ago. Personally, I'm probably going for 45-50 days by the end of the year without the help of any series with a triple-digit episode count (with the exception of Shugo Chara, which I watched when I was just starting out with anime). After I'm more caught up, I'll probably ease off the gas and watch casually.

Ya. Mostly because I can kind of sort of contribute to anime discussions now, even if I haven't seen a lot of the really popular stuff, like Shippuuden or Bleach or One Piece. (I'll get to those eventually, but I just don't feel like watching tomes now. [So, I understand where bb is.])

The number's got me hesitant about venturing any further than episode 1, too. XD

From the shorter series on your list, I suggest

  • Chrno Crusade
  • Fate/StayNight
  • Zegapain ;P

Furuabes, very cute.

Kiss x Sis.

I love awkward humour, so this is totally my kind of thing. The premise is awkward, the plot is awkward, the characters are awkward ... : The whole thing is so awkward it's hilarious.

Imagine the cheesiest porno "plots", realise them in the Japanese cartoon style, and you have yourself a Kiss x Sis.

For the most part, the anime is self-aware (it knows that, for people to enjoy it, it has to make fun of itself), but sometimes it'll play an idea straight, resulting in a punchline, characterisation or plot point falling flat. Even then, you get some enjoyment out of it, because you get to laugh at something the anime didn't intend to be funny.

It's so bad it's good; and that's intentional.

This is what I thought Great Teacher Onizuka would be, but (far) more graphic.

Edit: Erm, some episodes take a turn for the gross. :/ Which makes me feel awkward, which saves the experience and makes it all funny again. Does that make any sense? Enjoying the show (for anything other than the etchi) requires some meta-appreciation.

P.S. A Certain Magical Index. Jesus Christ. If Square Enix funds something, prepare for it to make little to no sense. Also expect lots of A Wizard Did It. X( Dropped.

P.P.S. Now and Then, Here and There. Finished! Really, really good. I've found my second 9. :)

I've decided to watch Yu Yu Hakusho for a 4th time. I was trying to find the episode where Yusuke shoots a Spirit Gun in the air and it goes for miles and couldn't find it. Watched a few looking for it and remembered what a freaking great show it is and decided to watch it again. ^_^

I remember dropping Index after six episodes. After some time, I moved it to on-hold, thinking I might give it another try someday, but I'm not sure if that'll ever happen.

Last night, I watched Renaissance. The story is just OK, not particularly original, but there is something very interesting about this movie - its unique look. It's entirely in high-contrast black and white, constantly playing with shadow and light, like so. A very interesting visual experience.

Whenever I watch a new episodes of Uchuu Kyoudai, I get the feeling that I should really be doing things I've always wanted to do, but haven't done yet, due to lame excuses :-D

I wouldn't recommend Fate Stay Night as a must-watch show, but Chrno Crusade is kind of nice.

Trinity Blood is a good show, but the ending is kind of weak

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me. Personally, I found UN-GO to be better than that other 2011 Bones mystery production, Gosick.

I can't believe I waited this long to start on Kobato. Only went through the first episode and I'm sold already. Kobato Hanato favorited after one episode.

NP.
Same here (as one could guess from my avatar). Actually, I really didn't like Gosick so it wasn't a tough competition.
If I'm not mistaken, last year Bones produced No.6 as well but I skipped on it after seeing not so good reviews.

Going through some old stuff on my PC (good God, I really need to do some sorting out), I dug up an interesting list/chart I once found on the net.
It's called List of Worthwhile Anime and although it's a bit dated (thus doesn't include titles from the last two years), it's still very much relevant and I would recommend anyone checking out the anime from this list.
Some of the anime from the list are my favourite anime; also, out of the anime I've seen there are only two I disliked which is, for me, totally unusual.
Some may have already seen it, but for anyone who's interested, here's the list (it's too big to hotlink, so click on the link below):

And here's how I found the anime on the chart (should anyone care):

Since it's been... quite a while since a certain subgroup released an episode of Major I finally decided to go with another one and finish it up. Watched the final episodes (OVAs) yesterday. What an amazing show it is. Over 150 episodes and I still want more, why did it have to end? D:
