According to Hatena Bookmark News, Matsudo city has made a poster featuring a Mahou Shoujo to publicize the Crime Prevention Week. The poster has been displayed at police stations, train stations and public facilities in the city from June 15th. Matsudo City asked a dojin illustrator to draw specifically a Mahou Shoujo to catch attentions of young people.

Why waste precious money on publicising crime prevention?

Don't you know that you can prevent all crime simply by making a contract with me? Plus, you can become a real-life mahou shoujo just like the one in the poster^ while you are at it!

/人 ‿‿ 人\

*end result may not be exactly the same as advertised. We don't take any responsibility if you find that being a mahou shoujo is a life that is full of despair with little reward.

This doesn't fight crime at all, this will make the poster a target for thieves.

LOL at all the Madoka references ... I suppose if this was the 90s it'd be Sailor Moon jokes ...

Taser-tan is cute but I'm not sure if Mahou Shoujo should be advocating 'riding the lightning'. The Japanese police seem much more restrained than the gung-ho thugs we have here tho, I think a lot of them don't even carry guns. They can probably think of better ways to talk down a bedridden grandmother than electrocuting her.

Granted, I base that on the fact that I never hear about police brutality cases in Japan, so it's possible I'm just being ignorant of international facts.

I think the fact that Japanese civilians are not permitted to carry firearms has something to do with that (from what I've heard, mind you)~ ;o

~~

As for "Taser-tan": absolutely loving her.

I would SO steal one of those postersXD Maybe this was the plan all along, just narrow all crime down to the poster stealing variety?

And yes, I too thought of Madoka when I saw the news headline.

i don't know how magical girls could stop crime in Japan... but if such a strategy can indeed do good in crime prevention, then how about replacing that mahou shoujo with Homura.. bet that'll scare the hell out of potential criminals...

but anyways, nice moe police there... XD
