Subbed, sometimes english dubs just sound ridiculous.
Although there are some good dubs, for example, i really liked the dub of the Haruhi series.

I think the more important question is Turkish dub or Romanian dub?

I prefer dubbed but I won't wait for it, so most of the anime I watch is subtitled.

I think he makes some pretty good points but I do have a slight counterpoint to AZ.

Now, before I begin, I would say that I prefer the subs to the dubs, although, there are a few animes where I think the dub is far better than the sub.

I think there are two counterpoints and they both somewhat coincide. One being that the Japanese voice with the animation is more authentic. The Japanese voice feels more natural due to the setting of the anime. I know AZ touched on it but that's the feeling I get when I watch a dub compared to a sub (sometimes). An anime like Steins;Gate, Katanagatari, Sengoku Basara feels more natural in Japanese because of the setting being primarily in Japan. An anime like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann or Spice + Wolf would have an easier time with an English dub due to the anonymity of the setting.

Secondly, one thing, and I can't say all dubs do this, is change the source material to appeal more to a Western audience. For example, changing the context of a joke that a Japanese person would have an easier time understanding due to the cultural differences between Japan and the United States (or England). A majority of the time, the context change feels so deliberate and unnatural that they should've just stayed with the source material, even if a Western audience wouldn't necessarily understand the joke.

I grew up with dubbed anime and watch mostly subbed anime now. I don't watch many dubbed anime but if someone recommends a good dub, I'll usually watch it.

I prefer Subs because its original and they have emotion when voice acting compared to dub it just does no feel right in my opinion. I have will Only watch Subbed for ever

The only show that I liked the dub more than the sub was Black Lagoon, but that wasn't because of the "exceptional" english voice actors but because the dubbed version focused a lot more on funny swearing moments.

I hated English dubbed anime. I hated them so much (except for maybe Pokemon because I grow up watching them in English. But now I'm watching Pokemon B&W in Japanese).

I think Japanese version is so much fun to watch because of their expression and voice (cute and sexy in kinda way).

Ehh it's a tossup for me. I couldn't care less if i watch sub or dub. I prefer subtitles though because it gives me the opportunity to learn some Japanese words and phrases. Now and then, I can pick up on a few on them. Hell, I'm even considering taking a Japanese class sometime in the future.

Generally prefer subtitles but there are some dubs that I find really good like Cowboy Bebop and Death Note.

French subs (it's my native language) definitively (or English subs if I don't find french ones).

Of course I began with dubs when I didn't know that Pokemon was actually a Japanese anime at that time xP I even watched the first 40 or so episodes of Naruto with french dubs, thanks to that, it brought me to the wonderful world of Japanese animes.

But after, I began watching Naruto with original Japanese voices. At first it seemed strange to me and I had difficult to both watch animation and read subtitles at the same time. However I'm now used to Japanese language and subtitles and I can't watch one ep of Naruto dubbed anymore ! That voices are so annoying in comparison to Japanese ones >_<
The same goes for other french dubbed animes like Death Note or even Bleach.
The only good french dubs I watched were Nana and Cardcaptor Sakura (but I didn't like the fact they "frenchified" all the characters' names apart from Sakura ...)

Furthermore I learned some Japanese words thanks to subs. And it led me to take Japanese course this year. I can say that my experience watching animes with original voices help me a lot in this course !

I prefer subs because i think charachter are more suited to their original japanese voices

I grew up watching Knights of the Zodiac and Dragon Ball Z spanish dubbed because that was all i knew. Eventually I watched English dubbed on toonami/adult swim. Some of the dubs pissed me off so much, even though the show wasn't too bad. For example, in the dubbed version of Naruto, Naruto kept on saying "BELIEVE IT!" and it made me want to rip my hair out. I eventually watched it in sub and i felt it was much better. I enjoy the visuals equally in both.

There are a few subs where the voices do annoy me, like DBZ Goku, but it's rare. I've also grown so accustomed to hearing female the tone that Female Japanese VAs use that whenever I hear an American Female VA it just seems to ruin it for me instantly.

There are a few good dubs though, like Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop. I just default go to the English subs because most of the time it sounds better and don't really mind reading, in fact, i prefer it. I've done it for so long that if I'm not reading subs while watching anime it feels extremely weird.

I don't have anything against subbed.

But personally, I like dubbed better. It get's a little boring trying to read every single line that a character says + if I'm not extremely interested in the anime then I'll zone out. lol.

Absolutely Subbed.
this is one of the few things i'm really strict about.
I wanna see anime in their original language.
Of couse there's some exceptions, like childhood anime.
Or anime i'm unable to find Subbed..(quite rare)
