Sankarea Chapter 17 is out in the May 2011 issue of Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. It’s on pages 592 – 625. There are no color pages this time.

The chapter title in Japanese is “Kou iu no wa…dou…kashira…”

The English sub-title is “Ground: The Night of Terror”, which again doesn’t have much of anything to do with the chapter.

I’m going to put some comments in a spoiler space below. This was another interesting chapter…

So Rea did rip open Chihiro’s neck. As she starts to return to normal at first she doesn’t realize what she has done. At that moment Wanko and Mero show up and see Chihiro bleeding like crazy from the neck. Rea tells them to call an ambulance, and then she disappears into the fog.

Chihiro wakes up a couple of days later. As he is waking up he has a dream of his mother’s departure years before, and how she told him and Mero that she couldn’t stay with them any more.

Darleen patched up Chihiro and tells him that, lucky for him, Rea didn’t reach the carotid artery, and also that the zombie venom is wearing off slowly.

Wanko and a bunch of Chihiro’s friend come by to see how he is and they tell them that they have been searching for Rea since that evening, but she hasn’t been seen. Wanko tells Chihiro that she even called Rea’s house and spoke with the maids, but couldn’t speak with Rea’s mother.

Chihiro decides to go and speak with Rea’s mother directly. When he gets to the estate the Maids and Security guards won’t let him in but he jumps the fence and runs into the house where Rea’s mother finally allows him to speak with her in private.

Rea’s mother tells him that she isn’t Rea’s real mom, but that she is interested that he is being so chivalrous about Rea. She then sits down in a lounge chair, opens up her gown, shows her substantial cleavage, and asks Chihiro – “Kou iu no wa dou kashira?”.

So it looks like we’ve got a zombie version of "The Graduate" here… <LOL>

oh damn... i was hoping he would become a zombie...

Assuming that he has enough of the poison in him, if he dies, he ought to.

Oh fuck ...
She really tried to eat him.
And the end ... Dont really understand why the mother do that.

Either her mother is a slut or maybe she want to test him ? Will he go after her body or is he faithful to her daughter or smth like that.
I just hope they're gonna find her soon, and I hope she's eating those weeds/herbs.
It already seemed to me, that his mother was also a zombie, and now that dream... if that's really his mother, then maybe she left because of the same reason, just not to eat her family.

Yea definitely a test. No way she'd go for him... or would she haha

so she really did bite him. ouch, he almost died...

the mother doesn't care but with her husband being a creepy old fuck she seems to want some manly attention from our protagonist.

Oh right, I'd totally forgotten that Furuya's mom was a zombie as well.
And how can they take a break now, now we'll have to extra long for the continuation D:

Now that is one messed up parent. Not only does she not care but she's even going so far as to negotiate to look for her own child.

I love this manga from the beginning, with its new focus on the zombies and convincing and attractive way of treating history. Rea is adorable, hope you can stabilize the new situation.

Did not expect and do not want.

I love reading the new chapters of Sankarea that come out, they always get me so interested in seeing what happens next.

I don't like the mother way too much, I wonder what Chihiro will end up doing next chapter :o

Ohh Damnn?! I just read the whole series up to date today, and I must say, Its Terrific!

Wow So Sanka, Rea did really bite Furuya, Chihiro hmm quite the development. That explains the urges that zombies will get after a time. It has been 10 days.

and woah end the chapter wtf? What is Rea's mom gonna test Furuya to do?

Nope, 2 month. It was at the last page, they're taking a break for the next issue (aka next month). :(

DAMN THAT IS TOO LONG !!

I know! I was thinking "You have got to be kidding me" when I read that. It already feels like a long time with just the one month.

Anyways, this chapter got me excited.

I'd give up on Rea right about now and just take the milf.

LOL

Gotta wait two months for the next chapter? DAMN IT!!!!!

I'm gonna leave more of a comment to the entire series so far than to this specific charpter.

Don't get me wrong, i'm interested enough to keep reading this manga. It's just that some little things about it annoy me a bit. Many of those things sadly are true for a lot of harem mangas.

• Nobody in this manga has any common sense. Who in his right mind would let a scientist that openly anounces she is gonna use ypur friend as a test subject in his house? They even treat her friendly at times.
  Why is not only Reas family not carrying about her death (at least one butler witnessed it), but also all her servants? You would think there would be at least one that despises them for it?
  
  
• Someone tells me something about my best friend/love interest and i'm gonna listen to them instead of talking to him-syndrome.
  
  
• The characters are a bit too stereotyped to really let me feel any interest in them. The slightly perverted best friend, the shy and silent sister, the childhoodfriend/love interest, the evil scientist who is really a normal little girl.
  
  
• How come the cat has to deal with neither of the issues Rea is facing? Even though it's smaller and got resurrected first it doesn't seem to have any signs of rotting or going on a rampage.
