I can't. Those are just dvd-sales. BD-sales are usually AT LEAST twice. This would mean IS sold at least 15k BD's. omfg

edit: If that's true: Hello second season. That's a damn lot. I mean 7k dvd's in week1 are already enough to make a second season reasonable. I can't believe this.

I thought Infinite Stratos was decent, pure otaku bait, but good pure otaku bait.

Did not expect those sales numbers though.

i for one will be glad if they have a season 2 of IS. i have said so many bad things about the show but this has a lot of potential. the mechs are original and the animation is pretty good. i felt a 12 episode series is too short and too rushed. I'll be naive and HOPE that they do a better job on character development and plot creation IF they green light a second season.

Why is everyone so surprised about Infinite Stratos?

Infinite Stratos has had at least FIVE entires in the light novel charts in recent weeks. Something like Infinite Stratos v1, Infinite Stratos v7, Infinit Stratos v6, Infinite Stratos v2 etc. Moshidora, which has over 1 million sales of its one and only volume in total, is basically the only light novel that has rivaled its success in recent weeks.

That's pretty normal actually. (LN in charts) It selling "good" is one thing, but THAT good is another. (Durarara was more insane and sold quite a bit less, at least most likely... but the BD-sales would have to be quite shitty to not surpass Durarara)

On another note Dragon Crisis doesn't sell at all. It's a shame for its OST really. Should've been used for something... good.

IS sold 22k BDs (rounded).

http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20110406-00000000-mantan-ent

So it sold at least 29,234 total.

Um, that's an exaggeration. IS' volumes were just ranking a lot because the anime was airing and popular. The same thing happened with Oreimo, BakaTest, and Durarara. In the end they were just enough to push all the volumes into the 150,000~ area.

Yep, quite insane. 30k combined sales for IS... that's a damn lot. Also, if sales are still a bit lower because of the earthquake, that number becomes even more impressive. (I have no idea if it still has a big effect..)

^ Earthquake impact is almost non-existence for popular series. The one that is affected is mostly unpopular ones.

That said, IS marks 6th animation series to get 1st place for BD oricon chart, followed by Macross F, K-On, Bakemonogatari, Code Geass and Angel Beats. 7th one will be, obviously, Madoka Magica with no doubt.

Because it is shit, which Kugimin powah and kawaii design can't cover. Japanese aren't as stupid as you think.

But that's his point. Because of the anime the light novels were selling well and over the last 13 weeks the only thing to sell as well in that period was Moshidora. That's why he's astounded that people are surprised.

IS has also outsold Ore No and DRR quite easily... and lets not mention how much of a failure Baka Test was as an anime.

People are surprised cuz it wasn't that good of a show in the eyes of MANY people. Congrats to it but its a overrated. I can't wait to see when the DVDs with Charlotte come out. Wait how many eps does it hold?
