Problem #1: most people don't know they can discuss something here because they in past saw that this section was empty Problem #2: We lack a topic for discussion Problem #3: The series is finished more or less and most discussions happen in on-going series... on New Testament in this case... To solve Problem #1, some kind of advertising is required I think. |

To solve Problem #1, some kind of advertising is required I think. Solution#1- Ask your friends from other sites to join here. As you can see Index went from #36 to #26 in Rank of Top Manga. I have been asking around. Advertise? Raildex is well known in /a/ and other sites like mangafox and narutoforums OBD. Also BestMADsOfAllTime a well known AMV account in the anime community on youtube is a fan of the series. The Last Fight MAD brought a lot of views and attention. Solution #2- Not true. People new to the books can ask questions and give answers. I made this thread for those kinds of people. Solution #3- Since many people are new to reading these novels and js06 is translating , new discussions can come up. Well, I'm sure most Index LN readers go to /a/ since there is a "Raildex Generals" every day. |

Thats why its better if new readers ask or discuss since people who are reading it already discussed whatever has happened. I remember when there was pages for Volume 22 on animesuki. Just on Touma himself. Wanna read the"To aru majutsu no index" Light novels in English? Go here. http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=To_Aru_Majutsu_no_Index ![]() |

I've been debating on reading the series now that I have a lot of time on my hands with no job. I take it from the high scores that most people like it, but does anyone want to give a go at giving it some kind of review? I'm curious to see how it compares to the anime and just how good it is overall. |

I take it from the high scores that most people like it, but does anyone want to give a go at giving it some kind of review? I'm curious to see how it compares to the anime and just how good it is overall. How it compares to the anime? Season 1 did a great job as an adaptation. Toumas monologues are key for his character so he doesn't seem like a hot headed shounen boy. Season 2 failed at that and of course rushed the ending. The first two season of the anime are basically the meh parts of the whole series. The index novels 12-22 are the best part of the series by a huge margin since there is an overarching plot. Railgun anime/manga had the advantage in a good intro because it has only some relevance to the main plot but it's just another story( though the manga is very good) You will probably get a review soon since the translation with all of the Main novels are almost done only missing season 1 material. But I'll give it a go w/o a lot of spoiling. Story- 10/10- The story changes dramatically since the Academy City Invasion Arc. Accelerator and Shiage are introduced are new MCs to the story so it's not all about Touma but also about the dark side of Academy City.So a fresh change of MC point of views. The series also has religion and science references from our world included in the series which brings more interest in the different cultures and science. Index novels also bring in a large cast of characters and their stories. Different locations also from Italy, France,Japan, United Kingdom, and Russia also liven it up a bit (imo). The ending( or this part of the series since it has a continuation called New Testament) also brings a What the Fuck feel but the good kind that has you speculating on whats to come. Not sure if this matters though but also if this bugged you in the anime volumes14-19 Touma doesn't give any speeches. Characters-9/10- As I said before the characters are vast and all have unique personalities each one. Funny thing is that Touma is a static character and so is Index. Anyway most characters get their development and connect well with other characters. Writing-7/10- Kinda weird right? I give story 10/10 but writing 7/10. Kamachi has those moments where you think he lost some logic or coincidences happen. A few times he gets some science and some religion wrong. I would question the way it's written sometimes because it hilarious how he puts it. Art-10/10- You have to see the improvement that Haimura has done over time. True that there are some big-headed characters but whatever. All in all-10/10 As you can see this review is crap and I am trying to get someone to write one soon but basically it's an awesome series. Not a masterpiece but definitely nothing short of Amazing or Excellent. Modified by JoJo10, 06-28-11, 10:48 PM Wanna read the"To aru majutsu no index" Light novels in English? anyone know how they came up with 161 chapters from the novels? it says 24 volumes so i assume the 22 main volumes and both SS volumes the only way to stop a gamer from playing is either: beat them, or wait until they get bored (though 2% percent suffer seizures |

It's probably counting prologues and afterwords and some war reports. Also SS2 has 22 chapters but they are short. Wanna read the"To aru majutsu no index" Light novels in English? Go here. http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=To_Aru_Majutsu_no_Index ![]() |

Anyone feel like doing a recount? ┐(;゚ー゚)┌ |

If you want to, sure. I think the idea of keeping track how far you get through the light novels by chapters is silly though, more convenient to use volumes. I'm still working on getting through the novels, so I can't really count them myself (Just finished 17, and I know things really pick up and get even more epic 19+). |

I have a question... well...I watched the two seasons and still recalls how they work, so I really need to read the LNs from 1 to 13 or can I jump these parts? you see, I don't like very much of sit down and read books... and I really prefer much more to read manga or watch anime than to read in the web! if there's many difference I would try to read them all...but well, I'm still near of finish chapter 1 yet...so it's a really long road to end this! >_> but if jumping/rushing things I don't lose anything important, them I'll give it a try! :D |

You may want to read some parts of Volume 12 (it has some mini-stories that were not animated) and maybe SS1 but other than that you can jump into Volume 14. |
