Kizumonogatari is quite short so movie format is a good decision. It should be much better than Bakemonogatari but I don't expect anything form shaft anymore.

I can't wait to see what Shaft will do with a movie budget.

Though since it's a movie the wait will be much longer. I don't expect to see this anytime soon.

Not interested, I would prefer if they did Maniwagatari.

Sounds good! It's interesting that they went reverse and made a prequel instead of a sequel.

So, instead of about 240 min (12x20min) will get about 120 min? Great...

Kizumonogatari means focusing on Araragi and Shinobu.
That means no Hitagi D :
At least there will be Hanekawa.
I think it's going to be like an episode of Katanagatari, lots of talking, only longer since it's movie.
And I remember a news related to this. Otakus don't want Aya Hirano to play Shinobu.
Just saying.

I was also expecting a series. A movie is not bad either, but it's much shorter than a series, that's why I preferred a series. I don't think this will be the last time we'll see an new anime from the Bakemonogatari series.
I hope they make another movie/OVA for the other prequel (Nekomonogatari) and Kabukimonogatari and a series for the sequel (Nisemonogatari), and maybe something for the other upcoming light novels and the just released Hanamonogatari, or something like that. I want to be able to read Japanese...

Movie? Thought about 3-4 eps long OVA, but movie might be better. On the other side, shaftish movie might be strange, but they've pulled one already ( http://myanimelist.net/anime/2175/Kino_no_Tabi:_The_Beautiful_World_-_Byouki_no_Kuni:_For_You ) even with decent reviews. So who knows? Maybe this will work?

For all people mongering about Kizumonogatari not being a series - read it up, compare it's size to Bakemonogatari. And then think: how much you would have to stretch it to make it into a series.
Answer is simple: too much.

It's simply not long enough for a TV series... and you're severely underestimating the length of movies in comparison to TV anime.
If you do the math the original series comes out to around 5 hours, and it covered 2 novels. Kizumonogatari is only 1 novel, and honestly far less time is needed... so it actually all depends on how long SHAFT wants to the movie to be.

Anyway, this isn't a good thing at all. I don't feel like waiting an entire year after it gets shown in theatres for the BD to come out.

A movie? Damnit, I wanted an anime. Also, they'll probably take forever to do it.
