I did think this was funny when I first saw the screenshot, but really it isn't. It's interesting how fictional comedy and dire reality evoke the opposite reaction. As any comedian would say, timing is everything.

I never understood this... why not air it? I think it actually does more harm to announce it's cancelation, since nobody was really going to watch it, except people who don't care about the Tsunami. The people who would be rightfully offended by this, would not have seen it anyway. Maybe I just don't get it...

It makes sense considering what has happened over there, even though it's only like 30 seconds of the episode. It's a case of really bad timing of it airing right after this disaster.

It's going to be confusing for the people that miss it. Since episode 11 continues the story of what happened in episode 10 with the twins.

I don't really get Kore wa Zombie desu ka's case, but yeah, pretty bad timing for Onii-chan no Koto. Jokes about tsunami/earthquakes aren't rare, so nobody was at fault, but that was a wise decision nevertheless.

How Kore wa Zombie desu ka? was postponed to "violent content" is right against me...

But anyway, this was just bad timing, so I don't blame anyone here.

If it's on the streaming sites it has already aired on at least one channel in Japan, since the streaming sites in Japan have it 30 minutes to 1 hour after it showed.

This! Exactly what I though although Kimi ni Todoke should be aired as it brings a nice calm to be people watching, they should also air Clannad on bir screens for moral support and other animes that would help in such situation such as Kanon2006.

Because it would create bad mental imagery. Same reason of School Days episode 12 except they played it even more safe with a only DVD version uncensored.

well given the fact that tsunami related disasters are something that exists within the psyche of the Japanese people, it would not be wise to air an episode like this this close to the disaster. having said that, i hope they don't spend the next 20 years being sensitive to tsunami related content simply to be sensitive.

The title of the episode: 'My brother saves the world' is also a bit misplaced after the almost apocalypse like thing happened in the north of Japan. I've got a feeling that could also be a reason they skipped it on the most channels.
Is there a reason why it did actually air on one channel?

I also fear (it's actually no good term to use now) that many series of the next season will begin airing later and that we will even have to wait longer for a next episode than a week if those power shortages will continue.

those screenshots...ouch. It would be really inappropriate if they aired it.

I'm not particularly disappointed about the delays. I'm surprised anyone is, really, because honestly, it's nothing. So many people's lives have been destroyed, but oh no, we can't watch our anime for a week or so, oh dear. I know no-one's thinking like that or means any harm in saying it, but I just don't understand how someone can care about something so small when there's much, much bigger things going on.

Sorry. That was a bit rant-y. This whole thing just upsets me so much. >n<

I respect people who loves watching animes but getting annoyed because of cancellations and postponed episodes, mainly because of the current situation in japan, i hate those kind. You are either an idiot or an idiot.

You can consider what is going on in Japan and be upset that no new anime is coming out. Keep in mind for many people here, anime is a good part of their daily routine. This is a shock. People are upset, that doesn't mean they are heartless or not understanding. A lot of stuff airing was wrapping up with really good conclusions and its all being cut off at the tip. It's disheartening to many.

Please, please do not operate under the assumption that because we are upset that there is no new anime coming out of Japan, for what may very well be a while, that we are not compassionate and unfeeling for the plight of Japan.

That said, I'm just waiting at this point for the other foot to fall on Madoka. Whatever direction that was going in is definitely going to be blocked off at this point.

Look, there are rolling backouts planned in East Japan right now. Three of the nuclear stations essentially exploded. There are food shortages and the effect are well felt even in Tokyo. If your country just entered the worst disaster since WW2, who on the right mind would air a really really misplaced and mistimed episode of anime (the irony of the title and the content).

Extremely stressful and dire situation since they have to constantly worry about the nuclear stations. Being on the other side of the planet doesn't really help reduce the stress for me neither...

Not really, they were partial core meltdowns which meant that the core just started to overheat but didn't get past the main barriers (Another example: Three Mile Island. The meltdowns were secured and the power stations shut off before anything actually exploded. The Japanese have good reactors with good workers and if they 'essentially exploded' there would be radiation around the perimeter for decades. This isn't like Chernobyl which actually did exploded. Again, Partial Core Meltdown = mostly harmless (if the workers are good, which the Japanese are)

As far as I'm concerned, given the situation over there, we should just be thankful that some of the anime are being aired at all. Is a week-long delay really that big of a deal? Hourou Musuko and Fractale were delayed a couple of weeks ago for something far less important. Were people complaining about that? Not really, no.

The people who are complaining about delays simply disgust me. Thousands upon thousand of people just lost their homes, their workplaces, and even their family members to a catastrophe. All you're losing is a few 20~ minute animations, and you dare to complain about it?

I can guarantee 100% if your country faced the same disaster, all your local TV stations would be covering it, and not airing all your regular programming. It's the same for Japan. The anime isn't disappearing, just being aired later. Have some patience.

My two cents.

The production studios have to postpone these because they don't have the means or the resources currently to air them as usual due to the situation in Japan.

This kinda reminds me of that one Pokemon episode they refused to air in America after 9/11 (though it DID air before the event, they just skipped it on rerun sessions) because it had scenes of giant Tentacruels destroying tall buildings. They still won't air that episode over a decade after the event for some unknown reason.

Anime is an entertainment business, and if a country has a destructive event like an 8.9 earthquake, entertainment fields suffer delays and cancelations due to the fact that people would care more for their families/country's well-being instead of watching TV. Anime shows will get back on track, but it's understandable if it might take a couple of weeks.
