It might be hard to imagine, but Madoka Magica isn't the only anime that can provide major food for thought this season.

This thread is dedicated to all things related to the Winter 2011 noitaminA anime known as Fractale and the issues raised by it., such as is it OK to brainwash people as long as they are happy, amongst other things.

It's an old theme. People live in a world where they are "free". They don't need to work and have almost no responsabilities. This has some effects in the relationships. Since you don't need to care for your children, you don't need to live with them. And since you don't need to work to survive, you don't need to have your stuff and thus you don't have ties to any place or anyone.

It also uses the concept of avatars and using a network to keep people connected.

But as we see, this kid of world is a lie. Avatars aren't substitutes for real people and the system makes the people unable to survive for themselves. Like htey are children that never experienced the real world.

That's the anime's message IMO.

We should face reality for what it is. It can work as long as we don't abuse the benefits of such technology. We should live for the future, not the present.
Code Geass used that concept in the last arc of its second season.

Its religious aspect takes into account the effect of religion as the central aspect of a government. It is a reminder of the world history when Christianity was at its highest position.

How old is this theme?
The threat is stronger than the execution.
