The anime jumped over the bullying he went through in elementary school when a rumor got out that he liked dressing as a girl. I doubt the anime will go into it but (light spoilers)

For some reason, I wrinkled my nose when Chiba mentioned surgery. That's not cool.
It's all fine and dandy when you have an identity crisis at a tender age. Not so great when you're a grown-up.

this isn't particularly a subject that i'm comfortable with, but even then i love how far they go to do what they truly feel is "normal", it's sweet :3

This show really gets me emotional. It's incredibly sweet and the characters feel authentic imo :)

Very good episode IMO. TBH I loved all the minor things - the strap for one XD
Anyways, had some nice Takatsuki (or w/e) moments and Chiba ones as well I guess. The whole name swapping thing was pretty sweet, but the questions remain like the surgery thing. I like that he wants to do this for himself and not for anyone else

I disagree.
She's in love with the guy, so it's natural she wants to understand him.
There's a difference between a guy who just likes to crossdress, or a guy who feels like he's a girl trapped in the wrong body.
Up to now she's fine with him crossdressing and thinks he looks cute that way.
But if he's seriously considering surgery, it becomes a different story.
So yeah, I can see why knowing his thoughts about that are important for her.

I really need to actually start reading the manga. Every episode I watch I keep thinking about how there's more background info for this.

I wonder if he will actually try to take legal action to become a female.

I would be seriously surprised if he didn't.

Indeed. Basically she was prodding, trying to see how serious he is in this. After all, if he feels he's a woman then he will have to act against his own body and that does mean surgery.

As for my take in this triangle, I can't symphatize with Takatsuki here. Both Chiba and Nitori have been open about their feelings yet Takatsuki rejected Nitori while at the same time constantly giving him a false sense of hope. I'm not saying she's doing it on purpose but just how the closeness of their friendship and the ambiguous reason of her refusal are enough to keep a spark of hope in his heart. To tell the truth, regardless of how nasty Chiba's reactions are, if things were just she'd be the one who gets Nitori. Too bad love is not so simple.

Yup it's interesting to watch but feels awkward at the same time.

The character interaction is also quite complex. Like
what his sisters friend gave to Nitor.

I like the concept of this show, it's just... for such a topic, overwhelmingly bright and idealistic. Maybe it's the age? I know that after puberty the topic is a lot more painful to people with that transgender characteristic. I could go on; it's a decent series, but lacks realism, which may not always be necessary in anime, but if it's going to cover a serious topic like this, it should be a little more realistic.

Maybe by bringing a lighter perspective to this topic it would make people more comfortable talking about it? I may be overthinking this, but really; this isn't the kind of topic one goes over lightly unless it's for comedy, and this show isn't really a comedy, either.

Meh. Maybe that's a show I'll find later. This isn't bad per se, just... meh. I'll keep watching it anyways.

This has to be the cutest thing ever. I actually like Chiba.

The last scene was really well done. Finally people are actually talking, instead of avoiding the subject.

Decent episode the ending was rather nice!

I do find it a bit unrealistic how all of the friends know about Nitori and Takatsuki and are all OK with it. Still, the confessions from Takatsuki and Chiba were really nice. I actually feel pretty sorry for Chiba now.
