THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Even though they kept showing Reinhard as being ill it never crossed my mind that what he had was incurable. After all that fighting it's a less than 'glorious' way to have to go. I don't think he's even seen his son yet.

Reinhard mentioned at one point about being cursed from the Goldenbaum Dynasty. Considering his illeness became most severe during the anniversary of Yang's death he might want to change that around.

So many people lost their lives. Merkatz, Schenkopp, and even Mashengo. After all those deaths I thought they'd axe Poplan but it looks like he'll survive to womanize another day. Still it's sad how so many more died in that bloodbath ;_;

By far one of the most epic episodes in the whole series. Very sad and emotional too, even though he didn't seem to get a lot of development and screen time, I got kind of teary when Merkatz went. The narrator pointing out his battley history being twice Reinhard's and Yang's combined was incredible. I suspected Schenkopp was going to die at some point ... what a way to go, he was a beast. Felt bad for Mashengo, that guy was one hell of a bodyguard, and I was really worried they'd axe Poplan myself ... phew (am I watching Gundam? heh..)

I assume things will quiet down from here, but I fear the worst for Reinhard ... and he hasn't even seen his son yet.

Damn, so many great characters dead in just one episode, it shows just how desperate the battle was, even Schenkopp died, I was completely surprised, such a pity, I really wanted him to live on and make up with his daughter and besides I honestly thought this guy was invulnerable... well, at least he had one of the most awesome deaths in the series, up there with Reuenthal's.

What happened to Linz though... did he die too? It wasn't all that clear wether the ceasefire orders came in time to save his life... after Schenkopp's death he was the last of the important Rosenritter left... and since the regiment was decimated it would be so nice if he at least got out alive.

Holy crap, everyone is just dying. Thats one of the things I like with this series though, noone is immune to death in a boring and predictable way.

Goddammit, Schenkopp was such a beast, why did he have to die?!! After Reuenthal died, he was the last character that was overflowing with epic manliness...such a shame. Oh well, at leased his death was just as epic and manly as his character.

man, the Alliance's heroes suffered major losses in this episode....Schenkopp, Merkatz, Mashengo.....

Now, I am ready to listen to what Julian has to say to Reinhard!!

The endless debate between fans and haters. At one point, after spending a lot of time on MAL, you just realize it's totally pointless.

Shivers and shrugs: This is what I'm feeling at the moment, I can't believe all that bloodshed they have been through, a tear came when I saw Schenkopp diying.

I'm speechless at the moment.

Epic and sad. Some amazing heroes died: Schenkopp, Merkatz, Mashengo. It seems that Reinhard will be the last one to go...

Indeed, Louis Mashengo left with a line as epic as any other in this show, "Humans can't go against their fate."

*salutes*

After him, followed two manly men of overwhelming manliness, Willibald Joachim von Merkatz and Walter von Schenkopp.

Merkatz ultimately died in the way he wanted, at his Kaiser's hands.

*salutes*

Unfortunately, the same could not be said for Schenkopp, though he died while ripping though those guards like paper. It's sad to know that he'll never be able to attend his daughter's wedding nor be there to become a grandfather.

*salutes*

That aside, it's doubly saddening to know that Reinhard is suffering from what appears to be an incurable disease, in that sense, he'll be following Yang by not living his ideal end by falling in battle. This just goes to reinforce the idea that nothing goes truly as planned, whether it be in battle or elsewhere.

Now, to see what fruits Julian's efforts have brought...

Amazing.

Some amazing characters have been killed. Mashengo and his "Humans cannot go against their fate" catch phrase will be one of my favorites from LoGH.

Basically summed up what I was thinking...They couldn't have survived for another two episodes!? =(

YouTube - I post all my gameplay (Kingdom Hearts, so far) videos here (mostly boss fights), I am currently running through Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix on Proud Mode. I am aiming to catalogue all boss fights in 1080p HD using PCSX2 to emulate and Fraps to record. Give my videos a watch and some constructive criticism. Thanks.

Damn, too many deaths in this episode :(
Mashengo, Merkatz and Schenkopp, I don't even know for which one I grieve the most. Julian will not be happy about this too...
But I'm glad Poplan survived, it would have been too much if everyone on Brunhild besides Julian died.
Also I think I have an idea what Julian wants to offer to Rainhard, but I'll keep quiet and wait how it turns out.

Weird I always thought thoses suits are invulnerable coz they shots always repelled but this time they all died. That makes the previous Rosenritter battles even more unrealistic...

What a tragedic episode, but yet so fascinating.
First Merkatz death, then Mashengo offered his life to protect Julian.
Then most of the remaining Rosen Ritters lost their lives. They give time to the empire-defecting people to say a few words of how they were happy of their life and their death, like they give it to imperial admirals. I don't remember this kind of thing for FPA apart from Bucock, but maybe my memory fails after so many episodes.

Julian was right from the start when he understood that he had to prove that democracy was worth by shedding blood, and it's funny to see that Mittermeyer only seemed to understand it, when his kaiser asked him to let Julian come at the cost of his own efforts and bravery.

are they out of their mind?
yeah kill everyone, how convenient, now it feels like i'm watching Clannad all over again xD(orzel bait /end)

no i was kidding :p...but seriously,first Merkats,then the black guy...and afterwards Schenkopp???

I only cared much from the FPA people from Brunhild for Julian,Poplan and Schenkopp...couldn't they have let all of them live? :(

and Lohengramm ofcourse he was sitting like a damn spoiled kid waiting for Julian there...that's it,i want him dead...may space aids kill him ^^
although in the same time i don't want him dead because the kid will have to grow up without a father :\...i really don't know

5/5,and this was the 2nd best episode from all lotgh IMO,i wonder why so few replies
