Haha, I did kind of get some DtB vibes, too. It also felt like Starry Sky. Plus the president reminded me of the one in Star Driver, and the engine fragments reminded me of the konpeito in Kobato.
I thought the animation was rather impressive for such a short show. I wanted to see more of Minato, though. Not sure how I feel about Subaru blocking a giant fireball with her body, either. Nonetheless, it was fun to watch.

Ah ok. Well the Ep1 is only 6:05 long, so it's very short, so in a way, the Ep4 can be considered like the last part of ep1 since 4 of these ep1s would be a total of 24:20 which is like the length of 1 episode, lol.
But still to discuss the Ep4 part before it airs seems weird as it is...
It already aired >_> It's on the website called Anime Season English subbed- I just watch #1, 2, 3 & 4 all of which are aprox. 6 Minutes long and the 4th segment had an ending where as the others didn't- it seems like it should be listed as 4 parts to episode 1 in my opinion- however, it said each 6 minutes was an episode... it's confusing. But really cute.
Eh. I generally like Gainax quite a bit, but this was just meh. Art/animation was on par, but otherwise I just didn't give a damn what was going on. I'll just tell myself it's all Subaru's fault and pretend it never happened.
Aw man!!! I want more! D: I totally would not mind watching a longer remake of this series. It had plot potential! And I can't believe this is to advertise a car I didn't even realize it was a car advertisement( I don't know about car company names) until I read it here on the summary and I was "wha O-o? "
I liked it, it was pretty good for the short time they were given. Although really, you can't even tell that this is sponsored by a car company at all; not like Subaru is an uncommon name or anything. Fun 20-so minutes, I'd probably watch it if it were to ever come out in a full series. Not to mention the animation (and the concept art at the end of the ending song) was pretty awesome.
(Enter obligatory complaint about great plot holes and average plotline here.)
For me, the great animation and art doesn't make up for the lack of story and character depth. Why? Because I think this should be a longer project. I know they did this for commercials... but... that doesn't excuse the fact that it left out a lot.
I loved it. LOVED IT! The art was beautiful- I love celestial themed anime. I want more. More pretty art. More Minato. More Aoi. Didn't really care all that much for Subaru. Or the length of the series. It would've done nicely with 30 minute episodes, like normal. I hope that it eventually gets fleshed out someday.
The ED was cute, and catchy, too.
This was actually intresting.... thought it would be your normal little girl transform in to magical girl show... well it was, but because it was so rushed there weren't any elements that would make the anime worse. Also the president was supercute :)
I did also liked there magical staffs... it could do longer, but then you get all the cheesy not fun stuff so I liked this the way it were. Also unique story :D stars lol ... fits the logo of subaru and ofc her name. would give it a overall 8/10 ...
The episode self was lovely as it had a powerfull fireball, a girl who would want to protect something and a lovely ending :)
In the end when the bad-boy (cant remember his name) give the girl his sweater, i was kinda confused. o.O Thay acted like thay where lovers or somethings.
Did I miss something here?? o.o
Anyway, I would like to see more. It was really cute.
“I have a girl I love named Sakura. Well actually, it’s one-sided on my part. Sakura is totally in love with a guy named Sasuke. She tries so hard, chasing after him and trying to win his love. When she’s at it, her smile is the cutest thing. There’s no explaining it. Before I realized it, I was in love with her. I would never try to force her to love me. I’d be no different from that guy just now if I did. So I made up my mind. In the same way that Sakura tries so hard to win Sasuke over, I’m going to do my best to win Sakura over.” -NARUSAKU FOREVER!
These four episodes alone are fail (story-wise, at least,) but they DO make me want to watch more fleshed out versions of the characters in a Magical Girl\Slice of Life. Set in an astronomy club. After the little alien goes home.
Fully generic and unsurprisingly rushed to the point of bare coherency. The generic nature probably saved it a little in that second respect, actually, since you could fill in the blanks with all the other series that pulled the same stuff.
On the other hand, it was only a single episode, so it's not like I feel like I lost much, and the animation was quite pretty at points, making it some decent mindless fun. Not enough for me to understand the multiple requests for more, but there are worse ways to spend 24 minutes.
I am left with one big unanswered question, though... how the hell does this sell cars!? Can you seriously make a profit this way? Do some tiny visual callbacks and a name really make a connection that motivates someone's decision on something as expensive a purchase as a car? Hell, they spend more time on how Subaru is pathetic and slow than on her ending "I'm a star" power boost. I really want to know if this works out for them and if it is successful why.
