Ouch. I wonder how would the responses will be, in such a situation. The fair might as well be closed if things keeps on like this.

Not really, they just realized that with all the big name and popular manga out of the equation that not nearly as many people would attend the TAF as they hoped, so they're cutting back on the size of their exhibits, to tailor to the new, smaller, crowd.

The enterprise that exhibits includes "There is no exhibit" enterprise.
The consequence changes to which basis the major publishing house compromises.

So either the industry dies and Japan takes a huge economic blow, or they get their artistic freedom back. I know which one I am hoping for.

If the industry dies we'll all have to get new hobbies and unless you only like FPS, don't expect gaming to hold you over much as if it comes from Japan, it may be banned. Not to mention the extreme loss of revenue that can never be recovered for 50 years plus if ever. Also, the loss of international curiosity and support that'll never recover.

There really needs to be at least a 70% exhibitor loss before Summer then Ishihara will be under too much pressure and drop this bill entirely.

I'm surprised they haven't canceled the event. The attendance is going to be pathetic since most of the big names pulled out.

Because canceling and making NO money is a brilliant idea.

Might be a stupid question but......is Ishihara really so blind that he won't see the negative effects that this might produce on Japan? or is he living in his own dream world or something?

God, I hope this will happen. Getting a huge loss in one year is definitely worth it to revive the industry (Well, it's not like it's dead). But 40% gone now makes it seem possible for 70% before the summer >:3

He's not only blind, but he's living in this dream world, that he has governors' seat forever and otakus are gone from the world.

I'm still not convinced that the loss will be enough to pressure anything. I don't know what percent of Japan's GDP the anime industry accounts for, but I'm under the impression that it's 1% or lower. If the industry does die, wouldn't the effect be so small that it's insignificant?

That's why I'm gonna continue being pessimistic until something bigger happens.
