Somehow the characters might feel kinda clinche but in times they are important for its main story. Not to mention,Fractale arc was crisp but not as detailed as other slice of life anime such as Aria.So the animation for Fractale is top notch for a 2011 anime.

This episode was better then last weeks episode it also explained a bit more.
The setting is still great and gives a very nice feeling towards this Anime, it also makes for a relaxing atmosphere.

It explains what's wrong with there technology why it was developed and the problems it creates, people are free to do what they want and it seems they just turned lazy because of that rule.
If you can't even be bothered to live in the same house as your children any more, it creates a rather sad society.

Yeah, a little bit like the second one.

Anyway, for now I think this is the best anime this season. Entertaining, quite hilarious, beautiful art and interesting OP's and ED's, all in one :D
Also, interesting to see what fallowed next to the manga(that which we can read). Noted as well that Fractale goes on Friday. Can't wait for the next episode.

Finding the pacing a bit slow, still don't really know what to expect of this anime. Also really loving the animation, shame the art isn't as good as in the manga,

Great episode, there's really something to this series with its fantastic backgrounds, nice music and weird characterization. I now see how it could be a Denno Coil meets Nadia. This second ep was much, much better than the first and guess what ? It actually made sense !

Nessa, voiced by Hanazawa Kana with Kobato-like tone, was so lovely! XD
Definitely. Kana-chan <3

Nessa was a nice touch to the show. How did she not knock Clain over when she jumped into his arms? Must be because she's a Doppel or something like that. Anyone else think Nessa (or the broach) might be that "Key to the World" the violet-haired woman was talking about?

And my God, that trio (specifically the blonde girl) is SO annoying. They can disappear anytime. Really. I thought they'd be kind of random and funny in the beginning, but she somehow really managed to push my buttons in this episode. D:

Anyways, I'm enjoying this show. I love how nice the animation is.

Edit: Lol@AnimeCrazy having this listed as "Fructose" instead of Fractale. XD

I was thinking the exact same thing about Nessa perhaps being the key to the world. That would be pretty interesting to see.
I also agree with you about the trio. I thought they'd be like the stupid bad guys and all, but now they're just really annoying. Hoping they'll fizzle away as the show goes on...

Cute episode and I can't wait to see more Nessa! She was so cute! ><

A plot revealed this early means... yawn...

Hopefully, it will trend to some variation of morlocks and eloi when you least expect it...

Chilling is the comment that the doppels might not be the true representation of the person...

Fun episode, although all they did was go in a circle really. They got to show more of the world and introduce some more characters so its fun. Usually by the 3rd episode, the central plot device is revealed (especially in a 11 episode season one would hope) so next week might give an accurate representation of what will unfold in the series. Either that or this really is some sort of slice of life O.o

Interesting, Nessa causes everything she touches to go haywire lol and she can teleport to places when your not looking! As for the episode, pretty neat I don't think the plot will develop until mayb next episode or 4 because these episodes r probably introducing the new characters and atmosphere of the anime. I like it so far though, its very mild paced.

You would think that the director, after putting his reputation on the line, would produce something that has more than nice visuals to it.

It's another episode that left me in a weird state. I totally like it. But I don't understand the reason why. It feels boring, slow, too Ghibli-yet-not-Ghibli, and completely out of this world. But probably exactly this weirdness somehow sums into something that touches

If I were to sum it up in one short sentence, I'd say: Matrix+Higashi no Eden filmed by Miyazaki.
And I really like how noitaminA guys manage to find such amazing and unique stories and ways of speaking about the social problems like hikikomori.. I might be wrong though.. but so far Fractale seems to be the show that tries to depict the possible outcomes of the above-mentioned phenomenon (which especially troubles the Japanese society these days).

Looking forward to ep3

I even like the pacing of it too.

I only have one problem, well not really a problem, (more like worried?), the lightheartedness feels kinda deceiving, it feels like something bad or sad or both is going to happen...

What I'm hoping for is that this show will include Clain and Nessa going on an adventure. Would be epic!

I found it kind of boring, I wanted a little more that hinted at the plot, I still don’t see what the whole point is. Enri and her goons annoy me, really.

I keep thinking the characters designs are quite out-of-place in contrast to the marvelous backdrop art. While I do think it gives it part of the ‘movie’ feeling, it’s a letdown at how weak it is.

I’m hoping they don’t include “ecchi” in the category… I suspect, seeing as any kind of references are being mentioned too much.
I think, then procrastinate.
Therefore, I am.

Ah, I'm loving this - it has such a nostalgic Ghibli-esque feeling. Actually it feels like a mixture of Nausicaä, Nadia and - strangely - a bit of Grandia, the RPG classic.

The animation is far above standard, I'm sad it's not getting more recognition for simply how *much* is really animated instead of using cop-out methods.

Soundtrack is suiting and well-orchestrated, bringing out the movie-like feeling so many mentioned.

Most of all - while I admit the pacing of the story is a tad bit slow in this episode, the story itself has loads of potential for a truly epic adventure. I just hope Nessa and Klain get moving soon to find Phryne.

As it is now, it seems set to be a tale of human interaction, communication and what defines humanity. At least that's my early forecast.

I only have one word to describe this episode, ''beautiful''. For those who aren't enjoying the pace at which this anime is going, I would like you to think about the consequences of it going by at the rate of most modern day anime. That being either way too fast, fast to the point where everything is sloppy, or just so fast you don't get the privilege of enjoying what's right in front of you. So the pace, to me, is perfect. I'd rather have it slow and information, then to have it fast and unethical. Either way, I'm enjoying every second of this anime as it actually ''has'' a story, so far. I still don't understand everything that might be going on, but I look forward to these questions being answered later. Looking forward to the next!

If there is one thing to say about this series is its wonderful world immersion. Animes that generally immerse you in their universes are very good. The environment is spectacular and the OP is amazing. It makes me think of long journey to take around the world. No matter how I look at this anime I was so longing for something that reminded of "Nadia and The Secret Of Blue Water" Glad to have found and like many other people said already Nessa is adorable from every angle in the spoiler
I would adopt her as my sister anytime.

As the actual episode itself, I rather dumbfounded at the appearance of the Priestess and her role. One thing for sure she mentions that Phryne stole something like the key to the world. That is rather interesting already. There were some rather interesting world aspects such as this guy's system to listen to music but I wonder why it went haywire when Clain touched the monitor? A rather strange little doppel but it was heartwarming to see Nessa laughing over it. Nessa's powers are mysterious, whenever she touches something it either activates itself or things go wild like with the sun parasols. Poor Clain to have his bike in pieces, was a while since I saw that IRL.

Enri and her henchmen literally is what reminds me so much of Nadia. Of all things their motive for revenge was funny. The main boss does remind of someone but not sure who from other animes. What is rather interesting is that humanity in this world considers doppels as robots on who to dump the human's workload. From the looks of this it seems Nessa might be one of the new doppels you can touch, which apparently is sold as a sex slave (would it wonderful to have the same thing IRL, ah the many possibilities of loli taboos and anime characters coming as a real person to you).

Another interesting thing is this, which suggests freedom comes at mutual deep understanding between each other. A rather interesting philosophy that if applied now would solve lots of misunderstandings and wars. Furthermore I find it this baffling, that there is no trust upon people to live together as a sign itself or mistrust. Really confuses me philosophically but that's what technology in the future of a perfect Utopia (as Wasabi mentioned) may lead to. Internet is the sole proof that something like this is already happening. Anyways best series since a long time of this kind. I will preauthorize seeing it quicker now. I really enjoyed this episode more than the first one.

I really REALLY like this series so far ! Clain = Major Adorable, as well as Nessa (:
Yes, I find Enri and the other two slightly annoying due to their attitudes (and the fact that she was all over her brother. Weird o.O), but I aslo think that the way the do things is pretty entertaining.

My only problem ? Well, it says that Fractale only has 11 episodes, so I hope that the series starts to move faster, since it seems (and I COULD be wrong, don't hold me to this) that all of the 'main' characters have been introduced. So hopefully the actual plot begins to unfold in episode 3 ^^

It still has this Ghibli-esque, movie-like feel to it. The pacing, while a bit slow, seems perfectly suited for this work. But at the same time, this makes the end of the episode feel abrupt and premature. Provided Fractale ends up being something worthwhile to rewatch, I'd love to marathon it - or at least watch it in big chunks.
