Imazaki Itsuki, the storyboard writer of Rio: Rainbow Gate! Episode 2, complained in his twitter that the episode didn't make any sense. He altered the scenario in his storyboard but the aired episode was mostly reverted to the original script.

itsuki_Imazaki: Ah, episode 2 of Rio has already started. I'm worried about it...
itsuki_Imazaki: Looks like it's mostly reverted to the original scenario.
itsuki_Imazaki: It doesn't make any sense in that direction.
itsuki_Imazaki: What the hell is this? I'm virtually not responsible for this.
itsuki_Imazaki: Stop using my storyboard sporadically...

In the conventional production process of anime episodes, a scenario writer writes the initial script, a storyboard writer makes the storyboard based on the script, and the episode director produces the animation sequence.

Oh good! That way the anime will have some direction instead of just a fan service for Rio's (AWWWW!) hot body.

I actually like that the show is pure nonsense, this is an anime that's only good when nonsensical so stop complaining and think.

Is the episode out? Maybe I'll watch it when I wake up and then let's see how incomprehensible it is. I just tried the first episode but I didn't like it very much.
Not even Rio's body might save it if episode 2 really is incomprehensible.

Any bets that every post from here will say 'incomprehensible'?

No, and it's fine being that way as long as the battles and fanservice are good.

Well, it wasn't very comprehensible to begin with. Hahaa, so they might as well continue what they're doing.

No publicity like bad publicity. Now I want to watch this and find out just how little sense it makes. (There, I didn't say "incom—" ha!)

I wonder if he was just whining or if it's all a ploy... Hearing how bad Mars of Destruction was made me want to watch it, after all.
Not that I have yet, anyway...
