yeah, i already have Macross Frontier OST vol. 1 which has 2 versions of Aimo.

We'll never know, we'll just wait and see.

I'm pretty sure I know which direction the series is going in terms of the romantic aspect (overall plot.. who knows with Kawamori...) If they continue to make Ranka get jealous of Alto and Sheryl for the next 10 episodes I can see even die hard Ranka fans getting sick of her... they will change the dynamics between the 3 and it will happen soon.

Kawamori prefers strong women like Sheryl, everything he's done in the last 25 years shows that. It's also easier to write a good losers ending for Ranka than it is to write a good losers ending for Sheryl. Last 9 months I haven't missed a single prediction when it comes to anime/manga romance and I doubt Sheryl and Zero (Vampire Knight) are going to break that streak.

and thus I invoke the MST3K Mantra for you and myself:

"It's just an anime, I really should relax."

Very valid points, but I have the feeling something different may happen this time. While I don't see Ranka being a valid love interest (too much little sister syndrome really) I'm not sure we'll see Alto get with Sheryl either. It may be unresolved, or to be all fancy and modernised maybe it can be a yaoi pairing. A lot more shows are more open to that these days too. =p But seriously, I suspect neither will 'win' at the moment. But we have to wait and see I suppose.

It very well could end unresolved depending on if they have plans to make another tv series, ova or movie.

YAAAAAAA :D:D:D:D Watched it twice.

I'll ignore the fight scene quality. Which looked a bit like it was made from flash scratch.

I actually loved this episode, even though I've never watched Macross Zero. (I probably will eventually, but I bet I'll hate it.) The show-within-a-show (well, really movie-within-a-show) aspect was really nice.

This one really reminded you of how complicated the love triangle (...took me three tries to spell that word >_<) between Alto, Sheryl, and Ranka really is. Take Alto out of the equation and there's a sempai/kouhai aspect, as someone already said, but I can't help wondering if eventually there won't be room for two idols of Sheryl's level and there will be a competition between them because of that. (I'd hate that, but it is possible.) This is probably one of the few love triangles I've seen in an anime where the character everyone is interested in is actually more boring to me than the other two characters. Seriously Alto could just go away and I bet there'd still be enough chemistry to make the Sheryl/Ranka relationship (no not THAT kind of relationship...though there IS a doujin out already... :D) fun to watch.

Also....Alto is now permanently Alto-hime to me, unless he does something ridiculously bad-ass.

Which he will have to do, as a prerequisite to a Macross series protagonist.

Cool episode, brought back fond memories of Zero. Ranka is kawaii!

someone once said in a true tears ep discussion thread about who the lead guy ends up with: the first girl you see in the op(in this case: sheryl). LOL. it has been pretty true 9 times out of 10(ok that was just an expression and i don't have the numbers to back that up silly people XD)

anyway, i do believe in what that person said, judging from what ive seen/remember from all the shows ive watched

*edit: that doesn't stop me from rooting for the ones i like to end up with the guy lol(go ranka!)

Excellent episode, now Ranka will be a star too ! I loved when Sheryl kissed Alto :)

Amazing episode. Aimo is so beautiful, and Ranka is full of win.

This episode had a very nice touch to it. A connection to the past in addition to story progression. Don't see episodes like that very often.
