spirited away i remember just randomly picking it out at blockbuster cuz i remember it won an oscar for best animated movie, and i wanted to see why it was so good and i ended up loving it and then i watched princess mononoke and after that iv been into anime and manga ever since
my first Ghibli film was Spirited Away. i loved it because of the drama, the relationships, the animation...everything! it just blew me away & made me really wanna watch the other films. now i own them all on DVD!!
Nausicaa when I was eight years old in 1988. I watched it probably three times a week after that and shared it with every friend I knew, even the daycare I went to! Bless my mom for buying it for me at the grocery store ^_^
My first Studio Ghibli film was Whisper of the Heart! I liked it because i thought it was a cute story and it was way different from any other film i had seen also because i related alot to Shizuku in the matter that she likes read ^^
The first SG movie I saw was Kiki's Delivery Service! :D I remember creating a broom from pine cone straw and a stick, after watching the movie and trying to fly xDD Miss kindergarden times (not really) >_< XD I always detested taking naps during the day :P
Princess Mononoke. Rented it on VHS from my local video store when I was still pretty new to anime, it was one of the few titles they had that wasn't "Adults Only" in the anime section, and was a pretty new release at the time.
I believe it was Spirited Away. I watched it in the cinema yearsago. I really liked the story, and so my parents bought the VHS and I kept watching it over and over again. I have it on my computer now that the VHS player is broken, and I still keep watching it ^^
DragonsWhip said: Spirited Away. It was always on television when I had somewhere to go so that I never could see the whole movie
That's pretty much what happened to me. I immediately fell in love with the overall atmosphere of the movie, and decided to buy Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle and Cat Returns. Even though I didn't know how the Spirited Away begun or ended or wasn't sure if I was going to like the other movies. And then I proceed to buy all of Ghibli's movies on DVD. I'm now waiting for Ponyo to be released on dvd here.
So I'm not sure what to answer. Spirited Away was the first one I saw parts of, but My Neighbour Totoro was the first one I watched from beginning to end.
