Sounds like House of 5 Leaves all over again I hope it's more interesting instead of "I watch this for the OST and visuals" ![]() |

Well that's a surprise. A very good surprise, I would hope. Reminds me that I need to find where in my house I stuck this manga. |

Historical/Seinen. Haven't had one of these lately (except for House of Five Leaves). |

I wonder why they're still trying to make anime out of these series. It was proved so many times that a series will not sell if it don't have mecha, ecchi or moe. It's not that I mind it, I like seinen shows, and this one looks interesting as well. I just think it's strange that they're still trying. |

Well the synopsis is rather confusing but since its historical, samurai and seineni might watch... |

I wonder if this tea anime will be the highlight of the spring 2011 season? Well, I guess that depends on how Appleseed XIII and Moshidora turn out, but I will be following this for sure. |

TreF said: It's also worth pointing out that the left pic has more seinen in it anime than the right one. Eureka Seven, Gundam and Gurren Lagann are shounen and Natsume Yuujinchou is a shoujo, leaving 4 seinen anime in the right pic (DMC, Mushishi, Mononoke and Stand Alone Complex).viral_hun said: I wonder why they're still trying to make anime out of these series. I just think it's strange that they're still trying. Derp. ![]() Yeah, God forbid someone actually makes something not for profit, but for creative and artistic purposes. The other pic has Hanamaru Youchien, Momoiro Sisters, Kanamemo, Chu-Bra!! and the Sacred Blacksmith, 6 anime which are all "seinen" (read as targeted at hardcore otaku) The remaining 4 are Natsu no Arashi (a shounen that actually got pretty good critical reception, even by SHAFT skeptics) Akazukin Chacha (a shoujo from the pre-DVD era of the 90's), Mahou Tsukai Tai (god knows what demographic that's aimed that, but it started just as DVD players were started to be produced) and some generic harem that I can't identify that has a 50/50 chance of being seinen (with the other 50 for it being shounen) Tl;DR that chart shows that cartoons aimed at children sell better than cartoons aimed at adults, unless they were hyped by a popular prequel (Mononoke had the Bakeneko arc of Ayakashi, Stand Alone Complex had the GitS movie) or have a (persumably) popular manga to adapt from (DMC, Mushishi, possibly Hyougemono), which is what we knew all along. Now get me the DVD figures for original, non-otaku, adult-orientated anime like Serial Experiments Lain, Haibane Renmei, Paranoia Agent, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 etc, and then we will talk. |

Cool wall of text, but we aren't taking into account target demographic, but simply if a show contains ecchi and/or moe elements. Shows on the right do not, and they did sell well. |
