Observing from the trailer at http://www.hagaren-movie.net/ , it does appear that the art style is reminiscent of the 2003 version. Could easily be a side story of the 2003 as this would be incoherent with the brotherhood story, what do you think?

There's really nothing left to do for the 2003 series. This will take place within the Brotherhood continuity, mark my words.

Also, don't be thrown off by the trailer. Remember that in the first teaser for Conqueror of Shamballa, we got that bit with Ed and Al fighting the guy in the castle that turned out to be a flashback. So for all we know, this could still be a sequel to Brotherhood and not a "midquel".

From the looks of things it certainly seems to be in the style of the 2003 series, so theres a very real possibility that its a side story.

In any case, I've lost all hope for this movie after watching the trailer. I was hopeful up until the latter half...

From the looks of it, it seems that Ed may have his outfit from the last part of the first series. so i'll give it a shot.

This movie is a seaquel of the first FMA movie (The Conqueror of Shambala)
is not linked with FMA Brotherhood.

Though it makes no sense in any way, I would put the movie (or rather the trailer) to the 2003 version.

Maybe it is a crossover of both versions!

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a relation between both. The new characters definite seem to fit the 2003 more than Brotherhood.

I personally hope they do because it doesn't seem like Brotherhood at all in terms of story.

A new series, from zero.

FMA is turning into a anime RPG where you have different routes to take. Who's the bad guy this time ? Your typical end boss who wants to take over the world just for the sake of being evil or a 1000 years old witch who wants to live forever

It can't be a squeal to Shamballa as Al is in his armor. The real sign if it is from Brotherhood or 2003 would be if Al can use Alchemy using his hands.

I thought the concept was for it to take place in Xing set after because Edward is looking for a way to do alchemy...or at least that is what I heard...

Well it is mentioned in the synopsis that it will take place in the west. It is interesting for them to explore the other countries around Amestris... But I really really hope that it will put up a breathtaking experience... Please Murata, give us something amazing.

I saw it this weekend. It's basically a filler episode for FMA Brotherhood. Takes place around episode 20 or so. It was pretty good. The plot had the usual filler episode weaknesses but other than that it was enjoyable.
