| According to MyCom Journal, a new anime series of Appleseed was announced to start in the Spring of 2011. It's a 13 episode CGI anime series titled "Appleseed XIII" and there is no direct relation to Appleseed (2004) and Appleseed Saga Ex Machina. A new story of Deunan and Briareos will be told. | sorry for so many edits. 1. Production I.G is credited as a contract studio (制作協力). The main studio is Jinnis Animation Studio, who produced Fireball. The main staff are from I.G. So it's not wrong to call it their work. 2. It's not confirmed that this series will be aired on TV. The announcement only says "展開 release" in Spring 2011. |

| Interesting choice of director. Hamana Takayuki going to be doing a Shimbou for the 5-6 weeks that this overlaps with Moshidora. As for the series itself, I might as well take a look at it just because the past few seasons have been devoid of genuinely serious anime, but I'm not the biggest Shirrow fan out there, so I'm not expecting that much from it. EDIT: A new OVA with a May release date would make more sense, looking at the overlap with Moshidora that would happen otherwise. |

| Didn't Production IG say a while ago that they were returning to an old popular franchise? People thought it would be more Ghost in the Shell. Guess it was actually Appleseed. Which, I'll admit, is a little bit of a dissapointment. But hey, better Appleseed than another LN adaptation about traps |

| So basically Shirow is gonna have nothing to do with this again? Well all abroad the terrible train wreck that was Ex Machina. Production IG has been fucking up his work to much lately, and they are doing CG for a series, yep that's gonna look like shit. I've yet to see the Japanese pull off a series with decent CG. |
