It was a nice read, despite it being nothing too special. I liked how there was an ex-ace in Team D and also how one of them ended up being a really good batter, he just stopped being good because of bad eyesight, lol. That's actually pretty unique, I think. The story was definitely very shounen. Being a Shounen Jump fan since he was young, Kishi really understands the essence of the shounen genre. That's what made this a good read, imo. I can also understand how people felt that this was boring or unoriginal.
