I'm from Mexico City, which is located in Mexico (stating the obvious is an specialty of mine).

As you may know we are fighting a "war against organized crime" which is at a stalemate, since most of the government is the organized crime (you know corrupt politicians and bureaucrats), election year is coming (2012) and since this a three-party system country, parties struggle for power not for people. It is known fact that almost all our former presidents and people of importance either continue ruling from the shadows or flee the country.

An anime could be made about this. . .

I live in Nebraska in the United States. Woo for boring midwest. This state lives off of its college american football team.

Interesting facts:
Kool-Aid was invented by Edwin Perkins in 1927 in Hastings. He changed his soft drink syrup, Fruit Smack, into a powder to make it easier to ship.
The Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha has the world's biggest indoor rain forest exhibit.
It is illegal to go whale fishing in Nebraska.
On football game days, Memorial Stadium has the 3rd largest population in the state.
The 911 system of emergency communications, now used nationwide, was developed and first used in Lincoln, Nebraska.
In Blue Hill, Nebraska, no female wearing a "hat that would scare a timid person” can be seen eating onions in public.

I'm from York in the UK

Interesting facts about UK:
Population: 61.9 million (UN, 2010)
Area: 242,514 sq km (93,638 sq miles)
Ethnicity: white (of which English 83.6%, Scottish 8.6%, Welsh 4.9%, Northern Irish 2.9%) 92.1%, black 2%, Indian 1.8%, Pakistani 1.3%, mixed 1.2%, other 1.6% (2001 census)
Nowhere in Britain is more than 74½ miles from the sea.

Strange UK Laws:
1. Dying is illegal in the Houses of Parliaments.
2. Placing a postage stamp bearing the monarch’s head upside down on an envelope is considered as act of treason.
3. It is illegal for two adult men to have sex in the same house as a third person.
4. It is an executable offense to allow your pet to mate with a pet of the royal house without permission.
4. The Library Offences Act of 1898 makes it illegal to gamble in a library.
5. In 1647 the English Parliament abolished Christmas. (It was later repealed)

York Facts:
York has a population of 185,000
4 million visitors a year spend £291m in York, creating 9,279 jobs
It used to be that you were allowed, on Sundays, to shoot a scotsman from the city walls, but only with a bow and arrow and only if you had been born within the walls!
Also, there is a really small street called Whip-ma-Whop-ma-Gate, only just longer than it is wide. It used to be that if your wife was unfaithful when drunk, you could take her there and beat her sober.
Doing either now would get you arrested pretty quickly!

I'm from São Paulo, Brazil.
The country whose religion is Soccer, and well, Carnival (Which I really dislike by the way...)
Brazil is the largest country in South America. It is the world's fifth largest country, both by geographical area and by population with over 190 million people.

Well, interesting facts about Brazil, hmm...
Everyone MUST vote at the election (it's obrigatory here)
We don't Write Brazil with a Z (instead we Write it with a S)
The Japanese culture have a LOT fans here, many of them with more than 18 years old.

I'm gonna take advantage of this topic to ask, (I always wanted to...)
What do you Guys know about Brazil?
(It's just curiosity...)

What do I know about Brazil? It's one of the four main developing countries (part of the BRIC economic group), national football team is good, the anti-deforestisation police are under-equipped and under-staffed compared to the organised gangs they are going against, high rate of teen pregnancy (compared to, say, South Korea, but very low compared to the UK)

I'm from smack dab in the middle of Indiana.

Pretty boring here, and you usually get the crap kicked out of you if you tell anyone you like anime/manga, which sadly means hiding it for the most part.

uhh...fun Indiana facts...

By law you have to bathe at least once a year.
It is unlawful to have sex in any position other than the missionary position.
My favorite...by law if you see a horse on the road you are about to pass in your vehicle, you are to dismember your car into pieces and hide them off the road...as to not spook the horse.

This always seems nuts to me! Here in the UK, we have this image of the US as the land of the free. Hell, you kicked our asses 200~250 years ago for the right to liberty of expression! And yet it seems anyone who doesn't live in one of the big coastal cities has to put up with really oppressive bullshit!

What happened to the American dream that's in all the movies we import over here? Did it die after the civil war? Or was it only an illusion to begin with?

huashuah, Well I know that they are under-armed and under-organized, and I'm glad that someone outside the country cares for that, but hey, money speaks louder than IBAMA (The Brazilian Institute of Envoronment and Renewable resources). Really? UK, have a rate of teen pregnancy higher than Brazil? God dammit, now, this is new to me.

Yeah, I watched a really good documentary series about a former officer/survival expert who just sailed up the Amazon, meeting and living with all the tribes he met, and looked at the social and economic effects national and world policy was having on them. There was an entire episode devoted to deforestation!

And as for the teen pregnancy thing, it's crazy but for the most part, the first world has the highest rates with the third world the lowest, and the developing world (such as Brazil) is in the middle!

I don't know why, but several different organisations agree on this point (ONS, WHO etc etc) so I guess I'll believe them!
