Alas, Hiromu Arakawa had decided to put an extra to FMA after it ended on June 11. And of course, the anticipation was high demand, itself.

This one-shot was released on Sept 11 exactly, 4 months after FMA ended. The story is time focus back on Al, Ed, and Winry in Resembool. Read and find out. I just love it, it's the perfect 'slice of life'

That was good, and it did feel weird watching Al and his armor next to each other.

Still I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, and the ending scene was nice.

Ah thank you.
Although I thought it was cute. I feel like it lost some of the charm of the original FullMetal.

well that explains what happened to the armor

Okay, this suddenly made me happy.
Just a bunch of nothing, with some of my favorite characters, couldn't get much better.

That is so like Al to give up his second body so that others in need can use it. A great way to tie up that loose end.

What a good use of Al's head. It was nice of what Al decided to use his previous body for. I couldn't think of anything else besides that than putting it up for display in his room.

Nice little story though.

Kind of pointless, and surprisingly short. Arakawa could've at least shown the other characters. No Roy and Riza, at the very least?

Agreed. It was nice and all, but didn't Winry and Ed have kids? Where are they?

^Well the story is finished already after all, so pretty much anything coming after would be deemed as "unnecessary".

not really, there are many side stories that might be enjoyable to read. Lets say for example, a side story about Ling after he returns to his homeland. That may for example have conflict, battles, sorrow and then happy conclusion.

This story pretty much had nothing but happy conclusion and was kind of a waste of time. Did not really add anything worth mentioning to the original ending. So at least in my book a very bland and unnecessary chapter. It would have been more interesting to see their kids and their progress with the alchemy research for example.

Well, i think this chapter focused on the part when they just came home. If you look at Al, he's still kinda thin, so my guess would be that it's right after they've returned home.

I think it was fine, not good nor bad. Slightly heartwarming but pathetically pointless. It might be a one shot with random characters.

On the other hand I wasn't waiting for this at all, so I had no expectation whatsoever. And, I must say, it was fine.

Kind of just a random chapter. Nothing really happened in this chapter except them scrapping Al's old body so I have no opinion tbh.

Nice little addition. I like the fact that it is best for the armor to become something else rather that collecting dust. It would be cool if Al's armor can be Ed's automail leg!

Isn't it also your memories for the 2nd point, unless you're comparing it to the first TV show (another scale, other themes) that has a little tempo / direction incident when it redirects itself? Because the 2009 show is the same thing as the manga but with time/tempo mismanagement, a brutal introduction scrapping too much (of course the initial travel could be made shorter, but there are limits when reducing the introctory phase of a story), and despite its eagerness on cutting things in the beginning, it retained the manga's final segment in all its problematic stretched length.

In FMAB, they left out the arc where they find the girl with the metal legs, since that was a filler arc and we did not see the girl in the manga ever again. Music in FMAB was really well done and made the scene much better, and the animation was top notch as well. FMAB gave us one of the best scenes just at episode 2, which the FMA manga took 23 chapters to give us.

The manga should have ended when Winry jumps on Ed & Alphonse and says "Welcome Home". Everything past this point was unnecessary.

Decent nice little epilogue of Al dismantling his armor for automail which is bitttersweet,
but what I love best of this epilogue is seeing Hohenheim talking to Trisha in the after life.

I prefer this over what Brotherhood did, even though they're both good,
but it's nicer to see Trisha again learning about what Hohenheim last did with his two sons, and talking about failing their promises.
Her of dying before him, and he of not growing old and dying with his sons.
