| It's started, but it's underwhelming. If there's going to be a fight, let's fight already. All this "close up of the eyes" crap is annoying me. Hawk Eye's eyes, Ace's eyes, snake princess's eyes, etc, etc, etc, etc. FIGHT! |

| not just the pacing, but the animation has also been bad, which makes this war much less epic than it should be. Really disappointing so far, it can only get better. |

Aokiji is just as powerful in neutralizing the Gura Gura powers.. Still want to see more of Whitebeard! Its like a Royal Rumble in wrestling.. so many superstars in one episode! Brilliant! :-D |

| Aokiji and Mihawk are easily my favorites |
| Well, that's one way to start a war. The first move is to crack the air and create a tsunami. The second is to freeze that tsunami and as to not fall into the sea freeze the entire bay. The confidence of the Whitebeard side when that occurred made me think that was the goal all along, to create a strong foothold to fight on. Plus, Whitebeard may be the strongest on his side but Aokiji is on the same level as two others and we don't know how strong the warlords all are all things considered. So, I think it was very intentional to start the war so outrageously. We can only go up from here. We've heard, 'win or lose there will a lot of death in this upcoming war' and its filled with familiar faces so it got me worrying if we're actually going to have some characters we know die for once. Although it came off a little awkward with the 'we told you to go' speech it felt like it was a way for the Whitebeard pirates to say "you're one of us and we'll take responsibility for you". It was sweet. They are such a family! And more than that, the people here for Whitebeard instead of Ace are also willing to die for Whitebeard, it's powerful in that way. A cool element of this war that I hadn't thought so clearly of until the end of the episode was how even people on the same side will be fighting on different agenda's. Hancock doesn't want to help the gov, Moria wants to defeat strong warriors to make them zombies, and we saw in the 'capricious Hawk-Eye" that he's testing his own skills against the strongest man on the sea to see the difference between them. That's not even considering Luffy's group of Whitebeard assassinators, war stoppers, Ace savers and guys who happen to have come along... I have to admit the reaction shots were too much for me this episode. By the eyecatch I had to question what even happened so far. It got better though! Side note away from the war, I love how Mr. 3 has slowly realized how dumb Buggy is. They still get along like brothers with scenes like Mr. 3 on Buggy's shoulders but he's quickly seen through Buggy's facade of ingenuity. |
| Whitebeard creating colossal tidal waves that towered over Marineford as a demonstration of his horrific powers was truly something to behold and it was almost just as intimidating to see Aokiji completely counter his attack and freeze the entire immediate vicinity just as quickly too! With an opponent this absurdly powerful, it wasn't surprising that even someone like Mihawk was compelled enough to join in on the fun. And to think that this was just the beginning! |
