So I'm thinking about putting up some kind of comparison section. That way we can discuss who did the best on whatever series. I'd also like to know if a certain group provides acceptable quality. Thoughts, ideas, suggestions on this? |

I would think the main points to compair would be: Video quality Subtitle accuracy (More or less how it 'feels' in the English language) Subtitle visual quality possibly: consistency over several releases and then an overall grade on the series thus far. Maybe a voting system of 1-10 for each category... |

Another important thing is some Japanese terms or inside jokes. Is there an explaination some where in the sub that tells me about it so it makes sense to me? |

Would we not be accused of copying off Anime-Planet with this idea? I'm pretty sure they're the only ones with this. Or at least, not use the same words. |

Anime-Planet has one forum where people post about groups in threads and series. This is much more elaborate and detailed. If anything it would be more similar to AniDB's. |

Ah, that's right. AniDB also had that fansub commenting and rating thing. I forgot about that (cause I never use it, whenever I need to use it for a decision there never is any comments). I misunderstood when I first read this thread actually, when FQC comes up I kept thinking of a forum like A-P or something. Now that I think about it, you want to make a section like.. review on subs, right? Sounds really good. :D |

I like the sub review idea. It's just great to know WHY people give fansub groups a high/low score. Like if someone gives a group 7 instead of 9 because of bad typesetting and yellow subs. In my head I see something like this: Video quality (1-10) Sound quality (1-10) Typesetting (1-10) Translation (1-10) Language (1-10) (Karaoke) (1-10) Format(s): (mkv, ogm++) Notes: (Y/N, quality vote 1-3 or something) And with a field to leave a comment behind each category and overall |

If anyone uses the AniDB fansub rating technique, what do/don't you like about it? |

I think it's not that good, because it only gives a good picture of what the subs are like after 20-30+ votes. |

Yeah, I dislike how you can't get anything until there is a certain amount of votes. Cause then normally, no rating is ever displayed when I need it. That, and it's just a commenting system. Some people don't exactly put the most helpful comments. Having a review-like system would be helpful as it sort of forces people to comment or at least rate the different aspects of the sub I want to see (eg. I could care less about the typesetting, I would be more interested in what the person has to say or at the very least what they rate the translation and language). In the AniDB system.. we get general comments a lot of the time. |
