KyoAni couldn't have possibly been so out of ideas for a music-based slice of life outro that they honestly had to make something which is an obvious "Hey, that looked cool, we can emulate that."

Replacing jazz with rock doesn't change the fact that they basically copied a significantly lower rating shows intro. Song's good though.

The only similarity I can see is girls with hoodies and spraypaint.

Troll harder.

What's your point ? Just because Mio used a spray can in the ending ? Besides that ,they are completely different.

That's the entire point of both openings/endings.

Hoodies and spraypaint. So, it's also exactly like the first Bleach OP? Um... no.

Of course not, the editing is nothing alike.

These two examples, however...

Oh, it's alright. I am paying a bit more attention to what I've posted than the girls themselves though.

You have to look past the loli sometimes.

Well, I guess the sky shots, continuous camera angles from below, colour desyncing/defocusing effects, and constant walking shots from the side/below don't count for much, do they?

No, I meant the issue in question. Not the thread. And since I apparently care, what exactly does this thread hope to achieve? Are we supposed to start hating the song now or what?

I guess OP wants us to reflect on the contemporary anime industry in juxtapose with that of the past's.

The light that shines from your post, it is too bright! The wonderfully educated response is amazing.

Anyways, yes, something to that effect.

I fail to see much connection. Defocusing effects are hardly used in exclusively these two examples in OPs and EDs with decent animation quality. I didn't see particularly many cases of playing with the saturation value in the Manabi Straight OP. There aren't also many walking shots in the MSOP, and extremely few with the consistent walking and following camera which give a very unique feel.

Also, just because it amused me, the totals of the shots from high, low, and mid-angle in each are as follows:

Manabi Straight OP

  • High-angle : 19 shots.
  • Mid-angle : 7 shots.
  • Low-angle : 13 shots.

K-ON!! 2nd ED

  • High-angle : 3 shots.
  • Mid-angle : 38 shots. (approx, I admit to being partially uncertain on the count near the start but I'm within (+/-)2 at least.)
  • Low-angle : 9 shots.

Obvious different bias is obvious, and even more so taking percentages. (Which I'll let you estimate.) And K-ON had pretty much all low-angles facing the sky, where MS had a number that weren't.

Seems to me any correlation between the primary angles used is only apparent to you. MS is taking a more interesting approach with the use of high and low angles which promote odd perceptions of what is being viewed, where K-ON is being much more direct, facing the viewer and communicating (metaphorically) to them.

Overall: nice try, 3/10.

Try harder. Maybe with K_ON!! not on your favourites list next time.

Obvious bias is obvious.
