Seriously Char is the only one who makes this show awsome~ His submarine is just epic~
I liked the battle. I never knew that Gundam is effective in underwater~

Wow, that lady in red could not have been more obviously suspicious, yet the entire White Base crew continue to be extremely dense. This show. *sigh*

And any hopes that Amuro's death would be a turning point in the show were dashed almost as soon as those hopes arose.

Eeeek, Char~ Please have more Char.

White Base was better on its own. I sort of distrust Santa as their direct superior. :s Silly, inefficient G-men herding these children around.

Kai couldn't possibly leave. D: He's amusingly sarcastic and whiny.

I know you'll probably never read this but, Bright said it would damage the docks, I think?

Anyway, it's only when you get to see Char again that you realize he really is the heart of the show. You gotta love that guy <3

Char definitely needed to come back. Those Goggs MS are ugly as hell but they put up a good fight.

Another amazing episode :D

So the red hair girl was spy for Zeon posing as a civilian.

Surprise Amuro wasn't impress by her, then again she isn't exactly a looker :P

So everyone now becomes a soldier. Sayla seems to be getting better at piloting, same with Amuro and others ^^

The Goggs look scary, but got owned pretty badly by Amuro :P

Shame we have to wait for the next episode for Char, but it's worth the wait ^^

Can't wait for more episodes!!

I'm liking all of these new mobile suit models. It gives the show a bit more visual spice, even though the previous mass-produced monotony made sense from a pre-Gundam military standpoint. Zeon seems to be going the route of specialized roles at the moment, though.

Mobile suits seem to be becoming more and more like superweapons, as Revil noted.

I'm not sure what to think of this new spy yet.

Really dig the Goggs, it was one of my favorite models to assemble and it's cool to see them in moving action, ugly color scheme and all!

I like Revil, he's sensible and seems to have a good sense of things and yet also knows how to exert command.

Char's back, I didn't miss him while Ramba Ral was around but his absence was getting to be a drag through the past coupes episodes.

The arms race begins, but Zeon flaw in certain reasoning on Gundam, and the narration explains it very well. Good fight, the Zeon's spy, reminded me of those during World War II, especially for the tools he used, you step back in time.

It was ridiculous that Amuro took the fight to the water, but it all worked out. It's also crazy how many variations of the G Armor there are.

32 kills total

Char barely had an appearance and that's all people comment on.

Well, not much happened in this episode other than that I guess. They introduced the spy, some new mobile suit concept Zeon is working on and had another battle.

All of you guys are like "OH YES CHAR CHAR CHAR!" not regarding how shoehorned and pointless his appearance in this episode was, lol.

We basically have been with Amuro this entire time, watching him grow as a person, and now the antagonist from the beginning is back and all I can feel about him is meh.

It's intriguing how the Gundam's shield is repaired in each episode, despite being either heavily damaged or split in two in the previous episode. Ah, I guess we'll never know how is that possible.

Finally a comment about "mass produced" fed suits. Why do Zeons get all kinds of designs, yet feds buy theirs from walmart? Not sure how much more I can take of Frau saying "Amuro" a bajillion times. Glad to see Zeon get rekt. White base owns, and that crew is top. Char probably would have made a difference at Odessa Day, but now he's back now. Kind of, although he was pointless in this last one. He's such a fickle character, moving from one motivation to the next.

@laughterjones Zeon had several "mobile suit/armor making" companies competiting for the army's purchase. From this spawned the variety of prototypes and models you can see during the One Year War.

Aha, you're nice with Char, I was seeing him more like jumping from one to the other. ^^ (and this goes on up to the last episode)

We as an audience knew that Amuro was more than likely going to be fine. If we wanted to have a death scare, it would have been more emotionally effective if it were another character. We would have been more likely to feel the adorable relief that Bright did ourselves. But I almost don't think that matters. After a first watch, we would know if the character would survive or not so in the end what matters is the execution of the moment. And I really liked it. It was a somber tone, it captured both the relief that enemy fire has stopped and the fear of what it cost. Finally having the communications link and the tension on the character's shoulders dispersing was a sweet way to show the crew's care for one another.

As for Char, I didn't understand exactly why his pride was mentioned twice at first. He sacrificed Garma, that's what made him lose his rank, it was a willing decision. But then I realized his pride was probably hurt because of the amount of times White Base and Gundam defended against and evaded him. It gives the Amuro/Char rivalry more weight, as both of these boys feel a personal desire to trump the other.

Yes! Char is back. Looks like that redhead girl is going to be relevant in this mini-arc, a Zeon spy huh. Those Goggs have a creepy design.

No idea about thinking Amuro 'died' underwater, he survived worse situations.

All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.

It's just plain weird seeing the White Base in Norn Iron, not least because the red-headed spy's Japanese is totally unaccented. A good battle, showing that the crew are meshing well without losing the entirely believable internal conflicts. I do have one question;

What the hell does Char want? Having wounded pride as a motivation seems a bit trivial for a man who gleefully threw his fellow officer under the bus for the sin of being of a higher social class. I am not yet seeing the awesome, although in fairness I'm comparing him to Reinhard-sama.

Oh, and the multiple suit designs, competing for resources, seems like a call-back to the approach of Nazi Germany in the latter part of WW2. Once the war turned against them, vast resources were thrown into "Wunderwaffe" or "miracle weapons", with the idea that if any of them worked, they could win the war. These projects were unreliable (Panther tank) and too little too late (XXI Submarine) at best, and flights of fancy at worst, like the Panzer VIII Maus superheavy tank and the frankly bonkers Sonnengewehr orbital mirror.

For an episode called Char's Return, he really didn't have much screentime. But I guess it wasn't a lie either, haha. Hope we'll see him in action next episode.

Other than that, not much going on except some more Gundam action with the new G-Bull, which was neat. Don't care much about the spy storyline.

Awesome to see some underwater ships and suits. These suits look rad. Zeon making mobile suits should prove interesting. Absolutely thrilled to see Char.

It'd be better if the kids just stayed off of White Base and out of danger but I get where Fraw is coming from as they're orphans and she's now obliged to serve on White Base.

"Come on listen to you Fraw Bow you're beginning to talk like Sayla!" after she just realized she has to be in the military, Amuro is pretty much awful to her and she's too sweet for him putting up with his BS sometimes. She is supposed to talk in military terms and professional. I would like Amuro to just show her some respect.

Another brilliant episode.

exactly this. what, he just up and left, with little fuss and amuro gave him his toolbox as a parting gift amicably? proving that the military deeming them as knowing too much valuable information being dangerous enough to threat to lock them up for a year, with kai's involvement with a zeon spy immediately after quitting? alright then...
