----------------------------------------
Great episode that was quite consistent with the original light novel in terms of overall atmosphere and the artwork. However, if you are planning to read the light novel series in the future, I highly suggest you to watch this after finishing the light novel (well, the U.S. translation has just begun and it will take a number of years to finish translating the series...), since the animation contains major spoilers.

It is subbed now by Taco.

I thought it was pretty good. The art is amazing, but I expect nothing less from Production IG. I can't wait to see the next episode when there will be more of an interaction between Konoha and Touko.

So are literature girls like...supernatural or something? Why can they only survive off of eating books?

Pretty good episode. The Hatsukoi OVA felt a bit random, so this was definitely a pleasent surprise. Now I'm looking forward to the remaining two OVAs and of course, the movie.

The ending was nice. I can relate to her happiness of reading books, although I have no idea what she's talking about when she's comparing different tastes...

Pretty good first episode. The character design is kind of similar to CLAMP, with the eyes and their characters' figures. Music and voice acting was great. Miyano Mamoru and Kana Hanazawa, two of my favorite seiyuus, did a good job here. It felt kinda short though. Looking forward to the next episode and the movie. I might try the other OVA now ^^

Ahhhhhh~

I just can't help but fall in love with Touko's cuteness.
The premise is quite clever and I love how she imagines these books, experiencing them along the way.

That was really, really good. Everything from the art to the voice acting and the premise of the story etc... Very interesting.
Loved the part when she was walking home after having read the book for the first time.

I really loved it. And I actually came to it via the review in your blog, stevewiess01, so thanks :).

BTW, what was the big spoiler only revealed at the end of the light novels? I just read the synopsis of the 2009 OVA and it basically had all the stuff from this one I'd think might only be revealed late ron in the book ... So what is it?

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the movie. If it is as awesome as the OVA I can imagine it being licensed, at least either in the US or in Europe. Because book-lovers can be found all around the world :).

Gonna watch the earlier OVA now, as I fell in love with Touko, shes such a wonderfully happy-go-lucky literature-loving girl :).

To answer your question...

Basically, the OVA is aimed at the fans in Japan who have already finished the Bungaku Shojo novel.

I've only read the first volume of the light novel, but even so, I didn't mind the spoilery elements in here. The atmosphere, colors, animation are all exactly how I pictured it would be -- really warm and cozy. Touko sounds adorable~

An epic start...

like the anime and the light novel, though the anime contain major spoiler :(
by the way, there is another group called monokage subbed this anime, their subs are better than taco :), but the graphic is not really good compared to taco :(
I collect both releases though :D
my vote are between 4 and 5 actually, but I chose 5 atm.

I really liked the first episode. I've never heard of this before and found this anime by coincidence. I don't now why this anime is so un-popular,many major/popular voice actors are in this show like: Kana Hanazawa, Aya Hirano, Nana Mizuki, Miyu Arino, Mamoru Miyano.

You will appreciate this episode more if you watch the movie. Actually you should watch the movie, or read the light novel before watching Memoire.

1st episode of Memoir focus on Touko ....

2nd episode will be focus on ...Miu Asakura

3rd Episode will be foucus on ....Nanase Kotobuki

All 3 stories(should be happen at the same time), is prequel to the Bungaku Shoujo series

For those wanna read sequel to the OVA, there is also manga version of Bungaku Shoujo (find it at MF)

Movie of this = Volume 5 of the Bungaku Shoujo
So actually, OVA is not direct pre-quel to the Movie.

~For those think this is spoiler for Vol8
I read it already....not really full spoiler ......it just 1 small part of the 'confession'

Quite a nice episode, the story seems quite enjoyable with a tender touch to it, the OP and ED are also quite suiting to the global feel and style of it. I'll be first watching this before the movie so let's see how these 3 ova's will bring us!
