Uhm.. Did you not understand the show at all? The whole reason they didn't want to get "Obliterated" was because they were afraid of what they might become after REBIRTH! The concept of reincarnation! Did you not catch that in the first episode when Yuri and the members of the gang were ranting about it!? "You might become a barnacle." Does that ring any bells? The reason of what happened after the credits was them reborn into their next life. Fate just happened to bring Kanade and Otonashi back together as she was humming "My Song" leaning against a wall in the city. If you remember Yuri's speech, in episode 12, when she was an NPC, she was ranting about how in the next life, it wouldn't be entirely her life, it would be someone else's life. Did you not pay attention at all? It seems that you watched this show with earplugs in your ears, or a terrible english sub (if you watched it in Japanese). In all seriousness though, are you too young to understand this show, or something? It all was fairly obvious stuff. I don't know why a lot of people don't quite comprehend the ending. I understood it the first time seeing it! >.<

It's nice to know that they ended up meeting again in the epilogue, but I feel like it was out of place and kinda ruined the scene before the credits. I was full on ugly crying during the graduation scene, breaks my heart to see such amazing friends have to leave each other. I wish they could have been together forever, alas, if they did, the series wouldn't leave such an impact on me.

I don't like how AT ALL how a lot of characters in the SSS didn't get proper goodbyes and backstories told -- 13 episodes simply was not enough. They were all intriguing and very likable characters, it's simply a shame that they where shafted.

Anyway, overall, the series gets an 8/10. I really enjoyed watching this, liked it more than I thought I would. AMAZING cast of characters that unfortunately were not able to shine to their full potential due to the low episode count. Story was great, but rushed; setting was also great. Eye candy everywhere. I hear Angel Beats is being made into a VN, hopefully that fleshes out... well, everything more, and is one day adapted into a longer series like Kanon (2006) was. Despite being rushed, this show managed to touch my heart, and got me attached to its characters, so I think that says something. VERY flawed, but I'm glad I watched Angel Beats.

Well it's over....and I have mixed feelings about the ending.

The good was Otonashi's closing speech and Naoi's farewell speech, when he debuted I did not like his character and thought he was a pointless addition but he was one of my favourites by the end with the whole uke thing going on lol

I also liked the music it was very well done.

Kanade having Otonashi's heart he donated after his death was a really nice touch and her regret was a unique one.

The credits showing the cast in reverse disappearing was a nice touch

The bad was NO FAREWELLS FOR THE SUPPORTING CAST. This is a biggie, a show that prides itself with such a huge cast sporting the whole rainbow in their hair colours, really all that time spent singing and Hinata dicking around in the hall could've easily been distributed for the other characters. Also a complaint for the series as a whole, but the supporting cast should've been more developed in a style like LOST, each episode focusing on one character, their regret how they died etc. would've been way more interesting. I mean how the hell did TK die and what regrets did he have lol

Otonashi and Kanade confessing to each other that scene was a buzzkill animation and the dialogue was really retarded there.

Too many things unexplained, or just downright plot holes. An obvious one being why is Kanade in the world before Otonashi when she clearly died AFTER him (since he donated his heart to her). And how come she got to have all that "Handu Sonic" crap if she was just a regular girl like everyone else?

Overall 6/10 in my book. Could've been so so much more.

I gave it an 8/10

What!? They got reincarnated? o.o I normally move on when the ending song starts, so I didn't get to see the epilogue. Anyways, that scene when Kanade said her goodbyes wasn't all that sad for me since I was kind of annoyed by Otonashi's voice, so the epilogue did not really ruin anything for me.

Like everyone else, I wish this series could have been longer to get to know more of the characters' backstories.

I love Key series, they are very emotional. Angel Beats was a good mix of comedy and drama. Episode 10 and 13 are heartbreaking. I recommend you to watch the 'another epilogue' of episode 13. It's just two minutes and it's better then the 10 seconds epilogue in this episode.
I don't know if to give a 9 or a 10, but I really loved this series.
Otonashi, Hinata, Kanade, Yurippe, Yui and TK were great. I'll miss them.
I hope for a VN adaptation.

The only issue is the lack of explanations for some parts, but I don't care too much.

Reaction To The End Of Angel Beats

Overall, Angel Beats! was pretty good, though it needs more episodes in my opinion. So much was left out, like how Kanade got a new heart but died young anyway. :/

I love the ending song (Brave Song by Tada Aoi) it fits the anime. I also love Iwasawa's song (My Song) as well.

Must admit the opening song is pretty good.

Oh yes and there is the huge gap between the part when Kanade left Otonashi and the very last seconds of the Ep. when Otonashi recognizes Kanade humming the song. If they do another season based on that I would really love it because it would fill the void.

10/10 man, I have never cried so hard in my LIFE, let alone for an anime! But watching the Operation High Tension special episode immediately after boosted my spirits :D
It was hilarious!

Okay, to clear this up for you, In the end theme, it's hinted that Otonashi LEAVES that world, by the order in which everyone disappears. In the end it was just him and Kanade, and then even she disappears, shortly after, he follows. Then, the next clip is her reincarnation humming "My Song", a song which her soul could not forget. Otonashi's reincarnation hears this, stops and immediately turns to halt her. Can't let destiny slip away now huh? Then the rest is left to the imagination. Did that help clear things up? :3

It was a decent ending for me, really liked it. At first you would think it would turn out to be some happy ending but the part where kanade was telling Yuzuru what she wanted and all the crying was pretty emotional.
It wasn't that confusing at all it was pretty simple in the end, they meet in another life after they reincarnated. In the end I kind of found it to be quite sad but then watching the special after that, I was happy to see everyone back.
Still a great Series
9/10

It could be that they don't show up immediately. Or that Angel Beats world time is not linked to real world time.

^this right here is good enough answer for me! thanks

Wow. If I had to describe the entire of this series in one word, I think this best describes it. The ending was amazing. The love scene between Otanashi and Yuri was completely shocking. At that point in the story anything was possible. But I guess that goes for most anime's endings. Unfortunately, all great things must come to and end, and Angel Beats is definitely no exception. I just wish the anime producers extended the anime to at least a second season.

I joined this forum for only this topic and to submit this. The whole world in which they found themselves was in of itself a paradox. The fact that otinasha arrived in the world after kinada was there proves it. Time of death had no implication of when you would find yourself in that world. There are clues in the series to point out that it is a circular paradox. I also personally believe that within the circular paradox that otinasha was the one to create the angel player code so he could become an NPC and move on. He fit the description of a man who feel deeply in love and the girl he loved moved on and couldn't live without her. The one who programmed the reset for when times that a bug appeared, ppl with amnesia. Maybe its a stretch but for me it really completes the series all that more for me, and yes im a 23 year old guy and i shed a few tears in the end ;).

This was the first thing I thought when she said that she had his heart.

I think after Otonashi died, he was lost in translation before he went to Purgatory. Kanade lived her life until she died, and went straight there. And after that I think Otonashi finally appeared.
