Just started The Dark Half by Stephen King a few days ago. I've been working my way rather slowly but surely through King's entire collection of works in no particular order since around 2008 and this is my 32nd book of his. This one was clearly inspired by events in his own life which I think is noteworthy along with the connections it has with other King books, something rather common in his books actually. |

Heh funny, currently finishing the same book. Not very impressed with it though. After that I'll probably start A prayer for Owen Meany. Also still desperately waiting for the 3 book edition dutch translation of 1Q84. The curious case of the dog has some truly gut wrenching scenes. The style of writing can get pretty monotonous but when it works it really leaves an impact. Modified by Riiken, 06-22-12, 4:30 AM |

Beetle in the Anthill by the Strugatsky brothers, it's a sci-fi novel with a lot of mystery, just like the previous Strugatsky book that I read a while ago, Snail on the Slope, thought without the surreal, and maybe not that philosophical either. So far it's an excellent book, that keeps you guessing. |

I'm not much of a reader but picked up A Child Called It a few weeks ago and nearly finished it. It's the most shocking book I'v ever read, the things people are actually capable of are pretty scary. ----------------------------- ![]() |

Birdy by William Wharton. I can honestly recommend it; it's both honest and absurd at the same time, and easy to relate to. After this I'm planning to read After Many a Summer Dies the Swan, by Huxley. |

I am reading a few books at the moment, but right now I'm re-reading the Count of Monte Cristo. I also plan on re-reading Les Miserables, since that movie is coming out soon. :D (super excited) |

catch-22, a classic "Being a fan of something is like having a penis. It's normal to have one and it's nice to be proud of it. But for the love of god, don't pull it out in public and don't wave it in other's faces." |

I've seriously been trying to get through 1Q84 for a year. It's really good, it's just been a difficult read for me, for some reason. So I've been reading Fight Club and the Game of Thrones book series lately. They're both perfect on screen, and they're both perfect in print. |

Just finished reading The Trial today and I'm not quite sure what I think of it. I found the discussion in the Cathedral really did help consider the POV of those sitting on the court, but the number of unexplained things really was quite frustrating. Yes, I know that this was intentional to put us in the shoes of Josef K, but that doesn't mean I can't find it frustrating. :P ![]() |

'American Psycho' Most violent, erotic and funny I've read. Sort of disturbing in some parts. Patrick Bateman is a wall street yuppie that is a narcissus and psychotic sadist. It's a satire of a book that was adapted into a movie that was performed by Christian Bale. (It's known for being controversial because of the violence on women) He gets crazier and funnier. A very big drainer when he talks about his routines or his favourite music or person. Modified by Kairei, 06-24-12, 9:38 AM |

DJIzzyIzzyHitler said: catch-22, a classic I really want to read that one! I'm currently reading The Hobbit. I started reading it when I was younger but was bored so I gave up on it. Now I can hardly keep the book down! After I finish the series I think I'll read The Time Traveler's Wife. |

DJIzzyIzzyHitler said: catch-22, a classic ^^Best opening line in American literature^^ I have returned to the gruesome, no, grueling world of the Malazan Empire, and I don't know why. Book 4, House of Chains. If anyone is familiar with the Books of the Fallen, can you give me a reason to continue? There are about 114 books in this series and Erickson is just a terrible fucking writer, jeez, like Hemingway as a fanfic-calibre Glenn Cook ape. Describe something one goddamn time, I dare you, I double dog dare you motherfucker. :p |

I'm reading Demian by Herman Hesse. I love his books so much. Every book I've read so far was a masterpiece. The only thing you can rely on is that you can't rely on anything. |

A Storm of Swords. I read them regularly until this third book. Now it's a chore. Next time I'll pick something shorter. |
