I really loved it! a properly ending for a great anime.
I just felt really sad when Raito is closing his eyes and he sees the figure of L in front of him...

How can you guys say Light is awesome :<

I don't.. I stopped liking light ever since he tricked rem into killing L. Damn him!

I really liked Light while I was reading the manga, but during the anime it just seemed as though every other episode he went "Oh no, I underestimated him!" or "Arg, he got me!" only to think up some last-minute scheme to save the (his) day.

It's not the last-minute schemes that bother me - they were brilliant. Light just kept underestimating his enemies, especially Near and Mello during the second arc. In my mind, it wasn't Near that beat Light. Light let himself be beaten :/

i liked the episode but i really wanted Light to win. I can't believe that stupid brat Near won. I'm soooooooooooooooooo disappointed! the moment when he is dying and he sees L in front of him was kind of sweet. I didn't expect Misa committing suicide either. Damn you Matsuda!

I think when Light saw L's figure.. it was saddening.. but that just shows they were both defeated =/

When it comes down to it, it was all Mikami's fault it all failed. Either he shouldn't have gone to that bank, even though he knew he was followed or he should've had a page of the death note with him at all times (like Light).

If he didn't go to the bank, people might have known about the death note Mikami had with him was a fake, but they couldn't have known where the real death note was, thus phailing Near's plan.

......oh well >.>

Mikami.. what a traitor. He wanted to serve his so called "kami", and he ended up messing it all up. But then again, he shouldn't have such a strict routine because it's easy to become suspicious. *sigh* ah well. He's dead, light is dead.. everything's over.. =/

I agree. It would have been a better ending if Light had won. Still I kinda like this ending eventhough he died. I still place this anime as the best that I have ever seen.

I'd like to take this time to link this topic-http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=322&show=0 the death note manga topic.

Xinil and I had quite a lengthy discussion about the ending here, so read it and respond if you wish. (the manga and anime ending were close enough)

Anyway, seems like they tried to save Lights dignity in the anime compared to the manga. In the manga he died pathetically in front of everyone while begging for his life. Chances are he probably soiled himself as well. ;P

Although I was very much tempted to refute the ending and say it sucked and Light should have won, I realized that this was the way it had to be. In the end, Light had to wake up from his childish dream and realize that a man cannot be a god. I Think it worked very much the same for people watching DN as well. Your inner imaginative side hopes for Light to finally destroy Near and reign over world, but then brutal reality shakes you from your dream, leaving you irritated.

In regard to Light losing himself and generally going totally insane: He had fought SO hard for 6 years just to get to that final day when he could finally achieve his ONLY goal in life, and that little child (clearly inferior to L) grabbed it away from him. How would YOU feel if someone stole YOUR life?

Finally I thought Light's final moment of solitude was a perfect way for him to die. He was always quiet man, and so he should have died in peace, reflecting/regretting, whatever was going through his mind.

Hmm kind of reminds me of a song... "I tried so far and got so far, but in the end, it doesn't even matter."

BTW: yeah, Mikami had like 45 gallons of blood shooting out of him, wtf lol.

You know, I really wanted Light to win, but if he did, the ending would be like crap becuase you would be like ok... now what? And for those who said it sucked, I feel sad for you, because you guys are too immature. Everyone knew this wasn't going to last, or other wise the series would go on forever. Plus, the tragic fall of Light was perfect, because in a sense, the new world he wanted started to fall apart because he got too lost up in it. I have to admit that when I was watching it, I was a little dissapointed, but upon reflection, I feel that the ending would have been total crap any other way.

And also, I want to know if anyone besides me thinks that Light will become a shinigami, becuase the dn users dont go to heaven or hell, so they probably go the the underworld or whatever, with the shinigamis. Hence, all shinigamis were dn users. Just my thoughts. And another funny thought, what were death notes like 2,000 years ago? Probably Death Scrolls lol. Ok, I type too much. Bye. And woot for DN, its defintely on my top one list right now.

I agree with you, I loved the ending. Honestly.. death note couldn't go on anymore or it would become so tedious. But it's weird that it's over... I'm so used to anticipating a little wait for the next episode..

That's a good thought actually, he probably will become a shinigami.. since people who are death note users go to "nothingness" instead of heaven or hell. Who knows?

That was the first thing I thought of scince Ryuk mentioned it in the first volume...
I kind of hoped to see Light waking up in the Shinigami realm, feeling slightly bored, and with two DeathNotes...That would make the ending so much more brilliant XD

The final episode was too easy to guess, but I kinda understand why its that ending. And I liked this episode, until when Ryuk started to talk, then I loved it! :D

But i rly expected a dramatic ending scene, something like Raito closing his eyes and a slideshow of the most impostant moments of the last episodes. Maybe with Near talking "I would never be able to do this without Mello, neither without Giovanni, Lester, Matt... and you. But In the end, i definitely won." i know he says something pretty similiar before, but it would have made the ending scene more dramatic. ;_;

Well guess what guys. There will be one more Death Note Episode! I forgot if it was a special or what not but keep your eyes open. It's said to be coming out sometime in August.

And like I said, it will show what happened with the remaining charaters. :)
