| I only listen to music when reading books. I watch tv when reading manga. Weird, but I just sit there on the couch while my dad's watching tv, I'm reading. Background noise, I can't deal with silence…>.>; Most of the time. |

| I also have to have some kind of noise in the background when I read anything, anywhere from the sound of my teacher talking about something in school (I do most of my reading during class (only got yelled at once, lol) but I can't do that anymore since I am out of highschool) all the way to music or the TV. Without background noise, I just get bored and do other things, as Aokaado said. |

I listen to music often if I'm browsing the net, reading manga, driving, etc. but if I'm trying to do anything else I have to be careful about what sort of music I choose. At work, for instance, music always distracts me unless it's purely instrumental. Lately I'm stuck on Muse's new album. |

I listen to music when i`m drawing, not reading. If i`m reading my LOVELESS, i don`t want anyone talking to me & no doubt stupid MUSIC distracting me! But if i`m reading an actual book, i`ll find some classical music. But for a novel, never manga. |

| I usually try to listen to music from the anime series to get me into the manga a bit more. If I don't have music from the series, I usually listen to some japanese/anime songs I have in a playlist. Let's me concentrate and gets me into the act when reading. |
| I don't think I ever listened to music while reading manga. But I listen to it when I write so doing that while reading manga would be good. As long as it fits the mood. And if I did it would a anime soundtrack. |

| I always have some sort of music going when I'm reading. Music never bothered me unless it really out there compared to the manga/book. I rarely use vocal music. I got a bunch of background sound from various sources. I usually choose one folder and let it rip. If I choose the right songs and at the right moment for any kind of reading, the experience will become ten times better. The most recent example is with the Haruhi novel on volume 4. Really made my day. |

| haha this thread is so cute i love all the "i can't listen to music when i read manga or else i can't concentrate!" replies i find that so weird, i mean i've done it before, but silence isn't something i find enjoyable. if i'm gonna read manga in silence, i'd much rather enjoy it outside in good weather (but not really in the city) else i have to have some kind of music playing |
| I need music to concentrate on the manga. I just can't seem to focus on the manga when there's silence. I don't know why but.. well, with music it's just so lively. (: But there is a limit of music genre I listen to. If it's upbeat and loud, I lose concentration on reading so I listen to slow, sentimental ones. ^^ |
