I quite liked it. The wing scene was indeed bloody, but the impact wouldn't have carried over if it wasn't. Lovely beginning.

Damn the Haibane have it hard. They have to go through childbirth-like pain within a day of being "born". Yikes.

The characters are already endearing... Hope this stays interesting.

Yes, and those fluidic shells are reminiscent of embryos in a way. This is in itself an allegorical series consisting of this sort of symbolism, and more. The animation was beautifully executed, as was the corresponding soundtrack. It was reminiscent more of a film than a series.

That was very interesting. The story is all about angels. I am not sure what can I expect from this show. However, it looks like this is going to be a short promising ride for me.

So these Haibane (Charcoal Feathers), once born are unaware of their own names or pasts? Sounds normal since one doesn't have such memories being born. Apparently, they lead normal lives, work, go to school, etc.

It seems that one of their sacred laws involves not ever leaving their town, with the justification being that even if you ever found your family, that they would be unable to recognize you.

So everyone born here is an amnesiac? Sounds good and bad. Good if the last place you were was a terrible place. Not so much the case if vice versa.

I rather enjoyed the first episode. It has that nice, carefree feel that I enjoy in most slice-of-life shows.

Hopefully, I'll understand why the place Rakka and Reki are in is called Old Home.

Very interesting indeed. My only problem so far is that everyone except Reki and Rakka annoyed the hell out of me every time they opened their mouth. I hope there turns out to be more likable and interesting characters than just the two. It was just one episode, of course, the others might very well be great and all once we get to know them a bit more, this is just the impression I've gotten so far.

Felt the same way but I got over it by the 5th ep. Or maybe they just stopped being annoying.

Wow, the episode was full of emotions.
From being scared, to calmness and curiousness and later being answered and confused. After that it turned scary and cruel, but in the end it was a huge relief that everyone went fine.

Great episode.

I found it very interesting, to say the least. The entire episode was filled with meaningful symbolism, compelling and deep. Haibane have to endure the agony to fully grow and live.

It seems really promising.

Well, that was beautiful.

To die and then not being able to remember your own name or your old life, it's kind of scary to think about. When Reki was explaining how they don't know what their purpose is, and how they can't leave, etc, I could just cry for them.

I like how they make the Halos like waffles or something, lol. And them having to wire the Halo in order to make it stay made me laugh.

I can tell I'm going to love this series.

When you rewatch episode 1, there are certain phrases that become more significant.

Also, when Reki is cleaning Rakka's wings, it seems as though she's handling them a little too carefully for...something that you who have not finished the series need to see to find out.
A good author leaves the audience enough material to be satisfied with, yet yearning for more.

She's falling...she's falling...she's falling from the sky. Wow, what a way to start off the series.

The way those wings popped out of Rakka was wow..just wow, must of been fucking painful just by looking at it. Wonderful first episode, 5/5.

The first few minutes started me off slightly confused and put off by the angelic themes. I thought it was going to be some pointlessly weird angel anime. Then when they showed her inside the cocoon and I started to become interested.

... then the wing scene came. Wow, that was freaking amazing. Dark and bloody, but amazing how much detail was put into it. It seemed as realistic as such a fictional thing can get.

Then once the mysterious and slightly ominous backstory was set up in the conversation between Reki and Rakka while she was cleaning her bloody wings, I was pretty much hooked.

This looks like its going to be a great series.
Some parts of this post may be exaggerated.

I just started this. I think the animation is simply beautiful, and the music is atmospheric too.

The wing scene was simply gruesome, and the detail amazing.

I've taken a liking to Reki already, she is quickly established as the responsible badass sister type.
