Heh, I didn't think I would like this series when I first started watching, but... I can't stop now. I love it o.o

5 more episodes... I wish Simoun-fans would hurry up and sub the rest ;_;

ship design is very unique, as are the offensive attacks. I find the characters very enjoyable to watch. The story is quite interesting and has the 'just one more' effect on me. It's really hard to say why I like, but I'd really have to say that the story so far is what's kept me into it. I'm not saying it's the best Anime that I've seen, but I enjoy watching it and I love when I start watching something I don't think I'm going to like and it turns out I love it, great discovery =P

I've only watched the first two episodes so far and it doesn't look that interesting yet, however I must admit the background art is pretty awesome. I'll continue watching it though mainly because I've heard the very, extremely, spectacularly good parts are yet to come ;Db

It's a killer waiting... I've got 1-23 and I've watched up to 22, but I'm holding off until 24-26 come out to continue...

I just finished it. Great stuff. I did wait till it was all fansubbed and then some. Should've finished it earlier.
Limone x Dominura was my favorite pair with Aaeru x Neviril a close second.

You should continue watching it.
I felt the same way as you did.
Watched the first episodes and wasn't that impressed at all.
Trust me, it gets incredibly awesome after episode 7.

I thought episodes 1-3 were pretty bad. The only reason I continued watching was because I already had eps 4-10 downloaded. Luckily, the series got really good at that point and I blazed through the last like 20 episodes in 2 days. ^^

Just keep at it and you won't be disappointed.

I totally love this show.
I must admit, like most people, I wasn't that impressed by the first couple of episodes. But I continued watching it and I got addicted =P It's a really great show with a lot of drama and character developments. I recommend it to anyone who likes drama!

i absolutely loved this anime. Especially the ending, 'cause it kind of made it all worth it.
i loved the characters, and the pairs and just the story basically, plus i would've stopped watching it if it was more mecha-involved. But this was an amazing anime, with a lot of great music.
i'd recommend it to everyone.

I am currently watching it (still at the first few episodes) but I don't get the mindset of the characters, especially the main character.

Isn't she a little bit TOO eager to kill the enemies? She is a typical soldier, that joined this because she wants to follow orders. Basically, she is putting responsibilities to others....(i.e. She doesn't have to think, just follow orders) Worse, some of the sybillae consider piloting a Simoun as a "holy" task and kill the enemy without even blinking an eye, as if it is a game. Worse again, they are wondered by the "beauty" of the Ri Maajon, which always results in annihilating all the enemies...(Unless Ri Maajon has other purposes than killing people later in this series, I really doubt if I should continue this series at all) And they're CHILDREN, getting excited and happy and fulfilled after what? KILLING other people....Neviril is blaming herself because she looked into the eyes of the enemy and hesitated to killed him, resulted in the death of her pair thorugh an accident. Also, instead of being tormented by the face of the enemy she killed, she is instead tormented by the guilt she felt of hesitating to kill the enemy. What is the message of the story? Never pity the enemy?

Isn't this a bit too fascist? I agree that the enemy shows no mercy equally and are clearly a militarian state, but at least show some emotions there.... The sybillae are like what?....brainwashed soldiers/priestesses..... And what exactly are they protecting? Why don't we see their cities?

I know it's a bit early to ask those questions and it's a good idea to FINISH the series first before making comments but I am quite puzzled by the direction this series is heading towards...I may change my idea once I go deeper into it...

EDIT: It gets better from ep. 8 on....

I can't answer this without some spoilers so click at your own risk:

We do see their cities, eventually.

Heh, indeed it does.

Still I was a bit disappointed. The cast is simply too large to be fully developed leaving most of the sybillae with little character development which was a shame.

well in times of peace, you use a sword for decoration, in time of war, you use it to stab.

its pretty evident that even the people do not know what these machines are or what they were built for. when they were threatened, the found that they could use them to defend themselves.

as far as i can an tell, the motional state of these priestesses is slightly different than what you would expect from a person of their age. possibly because they are all the same gender.

you never really think about the enemy you need to kill, but rather the friend you lost.

I watched 2 episodes and then dropped it. and I told everyone it was one of the worst anime I had ever seen. but one day, I decided to pick it up again and found out that it was a pretty awesome anime. I'm so ashamed of myself for dropping it so quickly ;_;

by far the best yuri anime I have ever seen

i finally finished it...i kinda skipped ahead to be honest. the show is kinda hard to follow at times. but if you manage to watch at least half of it, you might get one thing out of it. i could see how people would give up so soon, its not your standard anime.

I did finally watch and finish Simoun after hearing all the word of mouth praise for this show. To be honest, it didn't meet my expectations, but then high expectations are rarely met. I found it to be enjoyable in parts (especially Mamiina's arc), but I left with a feeling that this series still could have been much better in terms of story. I guess it's the sci-fi purist within me. Anytime you involve a story with time travel, you get to the thorny issue of time paradox.
As to what other people have said about the show's start, I do agree I was loosing my attention after the first episode (which I really liked), but it was only with episode 8 where I really thought the series was dramatic enough for me to go to the end.

So hang on a second, I'm like 4 episodes in right now, and have planned on continuing it until I have completed it . . . but would someone explain the heterochromia moment Aer has in episode 4, when she tells Remone to get away while she cuts off the dudes hands??? Cause I find it odd that no one questioned it, so I was wondering if maybe it was a HUGE animator mistake or something . . . I mean, how you miss something like that . . . but anyways, if someone could explain I would be grateful!

so this just ocurred to me, but the language the Argentums or Plumbish is actually japanese spoken backwards, has anyone else noticed this, would have made so much more sense sometimes

Edit: it's rather the audio played backward, you can hear a stuttering in the audio track :p

I saw it some time ago, but I was disapointed. Though it's certainly interesting with its themes, they could have gone further with them, and despite being kind of unique in it's own way it didn't feel like anything special. Also the "male" characters were all so ugly. I don't regret watching it though.

Well guys, I just finished watch it.

Indeed, the series starts to get really interesting after episode 13… But there are a lot of plot holes because of the side stories bad developed. The series had its high moments, and the end made me feel sad – that’s a good thing, if we feel something the story is somewhat good, right?

On the top of all the problems is the awful CG, that looks like a bad collage, and a lot of scenes where the characters are poorly drawn without proportion.

I think is an anime worth watch once. But I must admit that if I wasn’t kind bored I would never had keep watching after the first 3 or 4 episodes.

What plot holes? And I felt as if it was a bittersweet ending rather than a happy one, it's hard to explain. Depends on the spectator's point of view.

And yeah, the goddamn awful CGI annoyed me and always will. No matter if it's really cheap like Simoun's or high budget like in Last Exile, it just looks bad.

I was heavily bored more than halfway through, was worth finishing it regardless and rewatching it as well.

Well, think that because there are so much characters somethings remained a bit shallow: relation between Alti and Kaimu, the progression of the relation between Neviril and Aaeru, I felt the final choice of Floe was there just to shock us, maybe the final choice of Yun could have been better explained, and the beggining of the serie was very confusing.

Although, the relation between Morinas and Waporif was well worked, it wasn't the main subject but had space enough to a good development. And the stories of Oshina, and Dominura and Limone, have added a good dose of unsolved mistery.

But that's just my opinion about that...Maybe I will even rewatch it sometime.

Well, Alti and Kaimu overcame the taboo that was the sinful night they spent with each other and ended up living together, both as women and as friends. Aeru and Neviril's case is a mystery, since no one really knows where did they go and if they went to the past or future. Though I'm heavily driven to think that they went to the past, as Limone saw something flying in the sky in the last episode.

If they wanted to shock me with Floe's choice, well... they succeeded. I wasn't expecting that at all, it was really different and overwhelming. Yun didn't have anywhere to go, nobody to rely on and no particular goal in life, she firmly stated that she hated war and that she doesn't want to contribute negatively to it. In the end, she found the place where she finally felt that she'd fit in, accepting her fate as it is.

I rewatched it once and I'm probably rewatching it again someday.
