I liked Show All. I had over 200 things in my list and I've never lagged..

Now going to my list brings me to a blank page, and I'm forced to pick "Reading"/"Watching," it doesn't default to it.

Edit: Why don't you make it so the default link to your list (from your profile, sig, etc) is only the currently watching/reading list, and leave the option to Show All at the top? So users only access it when they need to and not every single time they look at their list.

I have the same situation. When I click on anyone's manga list, including my own, first/main page that shows up is empty, but I can view individual sections if I click on them. This should probably be reported as a bug, but It's obviously related to this update.

I haven't tried to update any of my anime recently, so I don't know if I'm having this problem or not, but have you checked to make sure that the anime is set to "ask to discuss an episode...?"

Also, I understand the change since I've noticed definite loading lag when trying to view my anime list on some occasions, but I still think there should be a show all tab, even if it's not the default.
Edit: or at least an option to show the full list stats at the bottom of each page for those that just seem to care about that.

I'm with some of the other people here. I like seeing my grand total rise as I update my list.

This is kinda bullshit.
:<

For me to view someones page I now have to load five different things to look at their whole list, instead of one thing.

Please give us the OPTION to have View All?

Now it just shrinks as you complete a series.
Wheeee.

Also...this is just my thought. I'm no computer expert or anything.

But having the servers load something medium size instead of loading six smaller things seems like it would be less strain and stress.

And one last bitching complaint...

Loading each of those six things just took me around a minute instead of the two seconds it took before.

Mod edit: Merged multiple posts.

Loading a few different pages each time you want a complete list of what you've watched will lower the server load when compared to viewing a bigger, single page? Doubt it. I have 224 entries completed, and am thus loading a page just for 24 entries. Plus, I opt in to not display the .header_title (use pictures instead) so a move would be good. You can't display 2 categories when you first view the page now: used to have both Currently Watching and On-Hold, now I have to wait for another page to load to view On-Hold. List preferences concerning these are moot now? I understand not letting the full list load when first viewing the list, but two should be acceptable.

Oh, and I want my grand totals back.

i think this should allow us to choose what we see when we go to the list -> allow us to see combinations of "currently watching" "on-hold" "completed" and "plan to watch"
i personally don't need to always see my list of completed anime, but it would be really nice to be able to see my currently watching, on-hold, and plan-to-watch all in one place

Oh great.... now ctrl+f don't work anymore. I mean, now we must do it like 6 times for each thing we want to search in someone's animelist....

And the reordening by column was not meant to be used when you are in the second page... worse yet if it is the second page of a 3 page list.

And now we have to keep walking back and foward in the tabs and pages, instead of just scrolling a single already loaded page... I don't know if it will be so good for the server...

And I also endorse all the aforementied complaints. Needless to say, I did not like the worsening of the service... but it is still too good to flee from... I'm powerless....

i guess this is related: the show i'm rewatching isn't showing up in my currently watching anymore.
I do not like this either. It does show up under the Completed page, but that's a bit tedious.

/agreed, please change back so that the anime we are rewatching show on the currently watching page...

Instead of pagination, what if you removed the links on each anime entry? Wouldn't that fasten the loading process by a lot? They're kind of useless, to be honest AND we get to keep our beloved Show All option.

Don't think of it as pages, think of it in terms of the number of entries. The surrounding code for each page requires minimal server time but there are maybe 10 different things that need to be downloaded from MySQL tables for each entry in your list. So instead of loading 5000 things for show all, you only load a maximum of 2000 at a time and in most cases, a lot, lot less. So worst case scenario, server load will be almost identical, best case scenario, a lot less.

Also, how often do people look at anything besides the watching/reading and maybe the on-hold part of their list... Maybe once a week? I know I almost never do.

Not liking this new style.

Bring back the old one, or at least make pagination optional. I can appreciate there's a toll on MAL's servers, but there has to be a less obtrusive way to fix it.

All this user hoop jumping and unsearchability just so one large page doesn't have to load (usually once)? This update was a big step backwards.

Don't mind it. But can you at least let it show or have the option for it to show 'Currently Watching' and 'On-Hold' (and maybe the 'Plan to Watch' list)? Almost all my on-hold anime are stuff I am fansubbing, so it keeps me reminded what I have to work on. Otherwise, I'm afraid I'll be even lazier to work on things...

You say that as if it happens all the time. I have been using MAL on a daily basis for almost a year now. The server does NOT 'keep going down'.

Tag links on user lists are malfunctioning. They only bring up the Currently Watching page.

Yeah, my list is definitely set to ask to discuss an episode. I don't know what the problem is.

I am not being selfish in saying that something that took literally two seconds before now takes me a minute or longer to do.

Thats called a valid complaint about a service.

Time to upgrade to HTML5. If it's just code, you need to just upgrade the version of the coding system. If it's too much work, hire someone to do it. As for money? Request Donations. I don't mind chipping in. Either that or the option will be upgrading server, which I don't think is an option for MAL.
