Also, I think it's wearing sunglasses.

An anime-original BONES anime is never a bad thing.

Bones need to stop messing around with mecha series ... they're never that great at it ... Eureka 7 is overrated -.-

and this new mecha look like crap (according to the official site)

on a 2nd look... the script writer does have a very nice resume (NGE, RahXephon, etc. for those that are mecha related) ... may have to hold my breath on this one

It has been a while since I've seen a new mecha design, I like.

Every single mecha show I've seen by bones was great, definitely watching this.

lol you know what I'm talking about.

Screw mechas. Animated GOSICK already, god damn it.

Actually BONES has 4 sub-studio to animate different titles, much like Sunrise & Production I.G did to their anime.

Studio A:Heroman
Studio B:GOSICK (probably)
Studio C:Star Driver (cue Igarashi directing this)
Studio D:Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood

My bet is GOSICK & Star Driver will be aired next Fall season (but the latter maybe aired in Winter if they planned for 24+ episode).

Since Igarashi (Director of Ouran) & Enokido(Script-writer of NGE,FLCL&RahXephon) involved,i'm sure this will be good.

Yeah, "Shining Tact" doesn't really make any sense. Sounds like a weapon in Pretty Cure :P

I'm sure it's supposed to be Takuto.

Not true. It's written with katakana, thus it's supposed to be a non-Japanese name. Yes it would be pronounced as "Takuto", but still romanized as "Tact".

That's speculation at best. Until they come out with a proper romanised name, I think we'll keep Takuto, since there are plenty of other possibilities, Tacto, Takt, Takto, Tacuto, and probably some others.

And no, katakana does not necessarily mean the name is supposed to be non-Japanese, Haruhi's name is written in katakana and she's as Japanese as they come. Sometimes it's just used to be different or cool.

Of course, I may have missed something very obvious but that's ok, this won't be coming out for a while so we have time to fix.

And don't even expect the 'official' romanization to be constant. See Real Mayer: リアル (I think) has been transliterated Real, Re-l, or Rill Mayar or Mayer. Then there's those really weird official spellings, mostly R/L relted (Kallen/Karen, see).

Shit. My first thought reading that was: "Shining Tact, Shining Fact, Shining Fart..."

Apparently it's リル・メイヤー, and the Re-l romanisation is based on an anime episode which has both Re-l and Real on-screen, go figure.

As for Kallen, I like to believe both names are acceptable, Kallen Stadtfeld vs. Kouzuki Karen. I still call her Kallen but...

Worst case scenario, we wait for a license ^^

I was going to respond "someone needs to watch RahXephon", and then I checked your list and saw that you gave it a 10. Clearly they're capable of making a mecha show you like, then. (Admittedly, this doesn't look very RahXephon-like, but we've barely seen anything yet.)

Anyway, I'd normally say "it's BONES, so it'll obviously be good", but after Heroman I'm not so sure anymore. Still, I'll definitely be checking this out.

Bones has apparently found an equation that works for them. Y'know, sometimes throw something different into the mix, like kid=mecha.

Oh yeah, I remember that. Yeah, that was alright. Kinda boring when there wasn't fighting. But I thought the fights were fantastic.

Anyway, I've relatively liked every BONES production so I'll look forward to this too.

As many others I am also used to instant love anything produced by BONES, but after Heroman (that I didn't like quite a lot) I am skeptical.

I did like X'amd however, but mostly for the action and stuff... having a third show so similar coming out don't excite me that much anymore.

I am utterly amazed at how Heroman has pretty much single handedly dragged Bones name through the dirt for everyone.

God forbid everyone started hating on Gainax for making He is my Master. Or Madhouse for making Stitch, which is probably a more apt comparison to Heroman

Bones has never made a good series that was not a manga adaptation, and whether or not they have made a good series at all is up for debate. While it is pretty hilarious how negatively they have been viewed after Heroman they still deserve to be knocked down a few pegs for consistently being crap from a writing standpoint despite their typically good animation.

Now that shows again how subjective those viewpoints are, because I think their anime original shows are much better than anything they did as an adaption. Rahxephon, Kurau, Darker than Black, Eureka 7, X'amd...even Tokyo Magnitude was at least good.
And I think many people just missed the point of what Heroman was trying to be...not that it is that much of a great show, but it acchieves what it wants to do, even if that is being cheesy.

Well, it could also be Shining Tact as in Shining Baton (because タクト (Takuto) is the Japanese version of the word 'baton')...who knows, maybe music will play a role in it. Yeah, nobody knows...

The mecha is more like a French Swordsmen imho. Think "Three Musketeers" & you had a mecha based from that.
